  1. The most impressive thing about Barr is his ability to use his brain to perfectly manage a match.
  2. If PSU's staff could coach up Cassar enough to beat him I have to think Kerk (who is better than Cassar) could at least make it interesting. And as i said before, if Kerk gets on top in the 3rd he might be able to put a ride on him.
  3. I keep thinking that somebody might ride him.
  4. The kids who don't know the rules are actually kind of funny. The only problem with it is if a casual/non-wrestling fan were to hear them they'd actually know less about the sport than if they muted it.
  5. Sealey lost a squeaker in TB 2-1 to Ferrari who everybody talks about as the next big thing. If you give me two guys who are basically equal in HS and one goes to PSU and the other to Iowa I'm taking the PSU guy to have a better career 10 out of 10.
  6. ESPN is able to post lineups and scores from EPL games even though they don't broadcast them. Flo/Track are supposed to be bringing wrestling to the masses and there are a grand total of two college events happening this weekend. All they had to do was call somebody and get the brackets.
  7. Once again the powers that be are doing everything they can to keep fans in the dark. None of this makes any sense, Flo owns Track so why not just use one site for brackets and put somebody in charge who is at least marginally capable?
  8. Henckel has been wearing PSU headgear. Busiello used to wear their singlet in offseason tourneys...
  9. Wrestling is the only sport that puts an effort into making it hard on fans to watch it. Other than Nationals and conference tournaments they keep schedules under wraps. How many times are people on message boards asking when the next round begins or if consolations will run concurrent with the championship round? It's almost impossible to have an event streamed without some kind of issue. Best case scenario is that the stream works but if it does you can bet the farm that the clock/scores won't be shown for at least half of it. If the powers that be had their way we wouldn't even get schedules, they'd just have meets randomly and the only people who would know about them would be the coaches and teams. And then there's the secrecy around players changing weights and injuries. I love PSU but I'll never understand Cael's need for holding back any and all information. Does he actually think that announcing Brooks was moving to 197 in preseason would have hurt him?
  10. It's so hard to predict how much they'll grow but it's not crazy to think they could line up Blaze at 141, Forest at 149 and Bassett at 157. Assuming Jax and Bo take redshirts they should have those spots ready for them. SVN has three years left and so does Facundo. The guy I'm worried about not getting a shot is Sealey which is the epitome of a first-world problem.
  11. Generational Talent- At least one member of every PSU recruiting class every year
  12. If this is the lineup how many finalists do you see? How many champs? Who are you 100% sure can't make the finals? (I've put a +,- or = next to each weight with my prediction on how they'll score at nationals compared to 2024) Lilledahl+ Davis/Nagao+ Bartlett= Van Ness= Haines/Mesenbrink+ Haines/Mesenbrink+ Facundo- Barr+ Starocci= Kerkvleit+ I feel like adding Barr/Lilledahl will make up for the points you lose with Brooks. I also feel like Kerk will be more dominant as will Haines and Mesenbrink. So that's six weights in which they'll score more, one where they score less and three where they'll score the same. Am I nuts? I also think it would be disappointing if they don't put seven in the finals.
  13. They're going to be better next season.
  14. Likely finalists: Brooks, Kerk, Starocci and Levi. Very good shot: Mesenbrink (no KOT, Carr or Hamiti) Nobody would be surprised: Bartlett, Davis I mean, it's possible: Bernie I'd probably still take the under but damn if they don't have a good shot at 7 and an outside shot at 8.
  15. I think what PSU does at 133 will be very telling. Nagao was supposed to be an incoming stud and just hasn't been able to put it together. I still feel like it wouldn't be a shock to see him finish as high as 3rd but I could also see him struggle to make the podium. If he doesn't get it done in KC does Davis bump so LL can go next year?
  16. Steen/Howard Shunk/Howard Evans Kasak Forfeit/Matt Lee? Bearclaw Facundo Barr Cochran/Fricchione Fricchione/Cochran
  17. Why not just alert the ref before the match starts? Just say "FYI, whenever I'm getting taken down it's because I'm injured."
  18. You're right, nobody has ever come back to win a match when they were losing 4-3 and pushing the action.
  19. What an accomplishment! They ducked at 125, beat unranked guys at 133 and 141 and then cried themselves to a victory at 149. Iowa wrestling is teaching today's youth to avoid tough matchups and then cheat to win if you're in trouble. It's no wonder they're dropping in the rankings and getting out-recruited.
  20. If he'd had locked up any kind of pinning combination Rathjen would cry like a baby to get a stoppage.
  21. Rathjen's injury went away just after the restart but he was somehow limping again after the final whistle. It's almost like Iowa is softer than ten-ply and either duck or cry to preserve their seeds.
  22. Desanto injury to Rathjen, Iowa always gets hurt as they're being taken down.
  23. They'd have to really want that 3rd place trophy
  24. You can smell the fear coming from Iowa.
  25. I was disappointed they brought Uncle Fester back.
