  1. I was there, and it's possible (but in my opinion unlikely because Davis was in the PSU corner) that I missed a very early handshake because there was a lot of discussion in the stands at the time and my head may have been turned away. But I can say for sure that Kilkeary was not on the mat any time close to when Davis had his arm raised and Davis did the mime handshake with a pretend Kilkeary.
  2. The post match handshake was fun. Davis shook hands with an imaginary Kilkaery since the real one didn't bother.
  3. Whoa - didn't expect Pico to rack up additional forum fantasy match victories. His longevity is unmatched. Most impressive! Looking forward to seeing whether or not he continues the streak in 2025.
  4. I responded to Fishbane before I saw your post. Thanks for refreshing my memory about this controversy. Transfering was a win - win for Jenkins and PSU. Not at all fair to be counted as one of Cael's errors in my opinion.
  5. IMHO when evaluating whether or not to recruit over someone looking at the future upside (entire career) of the two wresters is the way to go, so you're right, our criteria differs off the bat. Since PSU won in 2011 it is hard for me to say Cael was wrong. Your arguments are plausible - but for me only for one year and only if some assumptions are made. ~ Why was Bubba asked to leave the team? My understanding (and I have no inside information) is that the real reason Bubba left PSU was that he broke team rules. What team rules? Cael and Bubba have different versions of what transpired. If team rules were broken and Bubba was challenging the coaching staff would awarding Bubba the spot at 157 been the right LT move? ~ Would Taylor have stayed if he was compelled to go to 167? If he was winning in the room? As a RS freshman was Taylor ready for the move up? In final anaylsis, I can't argue with results. Cael won in 2011 and built a foundation for a strong run in years after. You may be right but its a bridge too far for me.
  6. I would take Talyor's and Deans's contributions to PSU over Bubba and Beard. Beard has the opportunity to build a case this season. But Bubba over Taylor's two titles, four finals, tournament bonus points and post graduations contribution to the RTC? One match may have ending well for Bubba's revenge fantasy but does not rise close to being a recuiting error! Cael's judgement was spot on in these instances.
  7. Depends on the level of Brand's base of opoerations relative to Cael for issuing statements. If Brand's operates out of hell, as as implied by some on this forum, then prossibly not. Unless Mormans occupy a lower level of hell then Hawkeyes. After I die I'll fully expolore hell and post some answers provided I can go low enought to find Cinnanbon and hack his computer. Post could be at any time soon because I'm a boomer.
  8. Well the Brands quote from the article is “I know one thing — we’ve got a lot of guys upstairs who are ready to go because of what happened, ..." The assumption that they are drilling was aspirational and soley mine. They may actually be upstairs logged onto a gambling site as far as I know.
  9. The best news in this article is that a lot of Tom's guys are upstairs drilling.
  10. he has a future playing a Lord of The Rings Dwarf character in a remake
  11. I'm fine with Jason Nolf being number two in the United States at 74 kg behind Kyle Dake (not my favorite wrestler). But hopefully Nolf gets even better.
  12. Yes and I actually considered this when I did my thought experiment. Curious who would make or evade a pick as well.
  13. Interesting counterpoint. Here's a truth-teller poll, if your daughter asked your advice regarding four possibilities, which would one would you advise her to marry? A) Downey B) AJ C) DeSanto D) Brooks For me its D) and (based on my limited exposure) I'd be happy for her. Not even close.
  14. For mentioning a disgraced FB coach in a wrestling thread you've won the spot of ultimate Heel team fanboy. Congrats.
  15. Pitt knocking off OSU East is an impressive program step up for sure. Are they a sleeping giant?
  16. I'm a believer
  17. He needs to go metric to have international success
  18. When Tommy asked the most important question of her life, there may be times his wife believes she gave the wrong answer.
  19. this opens up possibilities. As FS fans have no appreciation for a good ride, negative riding time could be introduced to placate them - so if the stall offender rides for 4 minutes and 43 seconds the bottom guy accumulates 4.43 points as the match progresses. If that doesn't put a stake in mat wrestling you can add penalty points to the opposing teams score; e.g. log(4.3) = 0.64640372622. Or if that isn't enough introduce an identity cosine -4.43 penalty as follows: cos-4.43 = sin (π/2 – 4.43) = sin -2.8592036732051 reduction of the top riding colonizer team score or = sin (π/2 + 4.43) = sin 6.0007963267949 add to ride stalling oppressed team score maybe we could add a vanna white type dial spin to select different penalty systems - that would not only make dual meets more sexy but also make it more confusing like FS in the sense that in FS fans watch a sequence and think that the score is x and y only to have the score actually be announced as a and b. Then an expert will explain why the scoring was actually ax and y-b because the refs got it wrong causing the coaches to undress or throw a chair. The fans of course go home and post to what grows to become a multi-page that never dies unless a moderator induced mercy killing is invoked. Sure, my solution isn't perfect but it's a start.
  20. https://spotify.link/EMD0H2ZXzDb for those of us who are not all knowing, all seeing about the freestyle world ... I thought this podcast was helpful building some background about the cast of players.
  21. Should I ever run across a normal Penn State fan I will ask
  22. Where is the separated at birth thread?
  23. Hiking/camping/outdoors at State College is just fine actually for both winter and summer activities. The one positive thing it lacks that the west coast has in abundance is an ocean. So boating, fishing, swimming in nature is limited to its plentiful lakes and rivers. Or you can drive the 4 1/2 hours to the ocean and spend a weekend as many (not me, I have too much to do locally) do. So it's not a fatal flaw.
  24. How much revenue sharing exists with research grants? Do the "have-nots" get much in hand-me-downs from the "have-a-lots""? How much sharing really exists? I don't know much about the research world other than a vague impression that it varies wildly between that of adding value and being worthless political pork. How does a school like Carnegie Mellon get so much when it is not part of an alliance like Ivy League, B10 etc? Does the CMU example mean that being a part of an alliance is not the critical factor in getting $$$? Many questions here.
