  1. this opens up possibilities. As FS fans have no appreciation for a good ride, negative riding time could be introduced to placate them - so if the stall offender rides for 4 minutes and 43 seconds the bottom guy accumulates 4.43 points as the match progresses. If that doesn't put a stake in mat wrestling you can add penalty points to the opposing teams score; e.g. log(4.3) = 0.64640372622. Or if that isn't enough introduce an identity cosine -4.43 penalty as follows: cos-4.43 = sin (π/2 – 4.43) = sin -2.8592036732051 reduction of the top riding colonizer team score or = sin (π/2 + 4.43) = sin 6.0007963267949 add to ride stalling oppressed team score maybe we could add a vanna white type dial spin to select different penalty systems - that would not only make dual meets more sexy but also make it more confusing like FS in the sense that in FS fans watch a sequence and think that the score is x and y only to have the score actually be announced as a and b. Then an expert will explain why the scoring was actually ax and y-b because the refs got it wrong causing the coaches to undress or throw a chair. The fans of course go home and post to what grows to become a multi-page that never dies unless a moderator induced mercy killing is invoked. Sure, my solution isn't perfect but it's a start.
  2. https://spotify.link/EMD0H2ZXzDb for those of us who are not all knowing, all seeing about the freestyle world ... I thought this podcast was helpful building some background about the cast of players.
  3. Should I ever run across a normal Penn State fan I will ask
  4. Hiking/camping/outdoors at State College is just fine actually for both winter and summer activities. The one positive thing it lacks that the west coast has in abundance is an ocean. So boating, fishing, swimming in nature is limited to its plentiful lakes and rivers. Or you can drive the 4 1/2 hours to the ocean and spend a weekend as many (not me, I have too much to do locally) do. So it's not a fatal flaw.
  5. How much revenue sharing exists with research grants? Do the "have-nots" get much in hand-me-downs from the "have-a-lots""? How much sharing really exists? I don't know much about the research world other than a vague impression that it varies wildly between that of adding value and being worthless political pork. How does a school like Carnegie Mellon get so much when it is not part of an alliance like Ivy League, B10 etc? Does the CMU example mean that being a part of an alliance is not the critical factor in getting $$$? Many questions here.

  7. Jimmy (pronouns pinfall/loan default) suffers grievously from fan dysphoria because he identifies as a PSU fan while having an Iowa chromosome. Most of us cannot imagine what it is like for orange supremacists to pressure Jimmy to conform when all he really wants is to have fun. He is one stunningly brave bun. This is an affirmative action issue. The Supreme Court willing, it is high time that we have a trans-fan moderator head up a forum. Only through acceptance and tolerance can we hope to grow the sport.
  8. Gary Busy and Jack Black are too old
  9. "Rather, the issue was that wrestlers untrained in handling such weapons were placed into advanced-level military training exercises." Huh? Could someone explain what I'm missing here? Were they fighting with pugil sticks? Good for Perry getting a settlement but this sentence ..?? Pugil Sticks are used in BASIC training. As a Marine I was taught a slash, a smash and a thrust. We then proceeded to slash, smash and thrust (mostly wild whacking) each other. Nothing "advanced-level" about it. It was fun. I'm guessing that cavemen did this without any training. Nothing about those BASIC training 3 techniques would prevent injury from a faulty equipment issue in this basic-level military training exercise. The issue (IMHO) was world class athletes stressing faulty equipment. See below link. Notice at 8 second mark the marine using an open face mask. Hopefully these have been retired and replaced. https://www.google.com/search?q=pugil+sticks+marines&rlz=1CAKDUD_enUS890&oq=pugil+sticks&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i512l9.6659j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:2b5ffb15,vid:wqbNFfyUVpQ Sorry for the old guy vet rant. Get off my lawn.
  10. Some in the wrestling world are worth following. Quentin Wight is one worth following - anybody have other suggestions and examples? Here is a reply from Wright:
  11. Wow. I just heard that MInnow has posted that all the children at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital are transferring to Penn State Health Children's Hospital in Hersey if any Ferrari's join the Hawkeye program. Bob Nicolis can't understand it but we all know its about Ferrari, Thon money and being repeatedly woken up during football games.
  12. My sources tell me that an irate forum poster, outraged over non-payment of a gambling debt, took Jimmy out just as he was stepping out of an Ann Arbor bakery. A letter signed by 100 former intelligence officials has been published which states that, subsequent to Jimmy's demise, Pastry posts have all the markings of a foreign disinformation scheme targeted to divide and confuse PSU and Iowa wrestling fans and thereby to weaken America. According to experts, a self aware AI developed by UM scientists and processing in a Wuhan China virus lab could very well be the source.
  13. The King Pin started young. Legend has it that he used a cradle as an infant to pin his own diapers.
  14. Grant knew how to apply superior strength to maintain the initiative against defense, stalls and counters. That was his genius. No other cracked the code against Lee. If Lee had not entered the portal he may have developed an effective offensive game, but he made his choice and was effectively countered on his two offensive thrusts.
  15. I rank Lee below General Grant even though Lee was funky in scrambles and a real bugger to take down.
  16. Max absolutely made the best decision for himself. The portal tipped the scale from school to athlete. Kudo's to him for not succumbing to pressure and sacrificing a year to COVID hysteria. Link to Max Dean's Letter
  17. Isn't it great that we live in a country where Brooks was free to say what he did, network wasn't afraid to broadcast what he said, and we can therefore exchange opinions regarding what he said. Free speech and freedom of the press in action. I love it when a plan comes together
