    this list is a mess. For example, anyone know John Smith from Ball State that went 6,2,1,1 at any combination of weight classes? I did find a John Smith from Ball State who placed 6th in 1973, I think the rest of those finishes are for some other guy named John Smith and they somehow got thrown together.

    Quentin Wright was seeded 9th and 2nd the two years he won it = 5.5 Mark Branch was seeded 1st one year and unseeded the other year he won. There were 12 seeds that year + 1 = 13, 29 in bracket = 21 for him if I am following your math for that year = average of 11 seed. anyone who won multiple with one being unseeded I think will skew this pretty heavily... I'd be surprised if there is a 3x champ with higher average that Rosholt.

    Larry Quisel wrestled 9 x in 1999. Lost in 1st rd, dropped into consolation pig tail, won 8 straight to get 3rd. So I guess max matches could have been 36 but a lot of craziness would have to line up just right.

    Can't look right now but think John Fisher/Michigan is close to that or maybe more. he did have a pig tail or two along the way to help with match count. mid to late 80s at 134.
