  1. All ya'll complaining about Tulsa still obviously went to Tulsa for the wrong reasons. I spent 4/3ths of it fitshaced and even I enjoyed every aspect of it... especially the sprinkle that was Parris demoralizing Kerkvliet.
  2. As a Non-PSU and major Facundo fan, even I am excited at the opportunity to see Messenbrink there. I also recall you saying what you said and what you're saying you said is what I recall you saying you said.
  3. Hey! Someone else said you were Mrs. Haines! I actually asked if you were, to be clear. When you refrained from answering I assumed that whoever it was that said you were was 125% correct.
  4. I think it is a requirement at this point. Please do.
  5. I think Ayala could win it all, honestly. I think Arnold absolutely could contend for AA at 174, but peak is in the 5-8 range, depending on draw (and injuries I suppose). He could also go 0-2. At 184 I just don't think he is grown enough for it, yet. Teske could AA and I wouldn't be surprised. It would be very draw dependent, though. There are a lot of solid guys coming back next year.
  6. Shit. I concede.
  7. Valid. Still awaiting your proof by example, btw.
  8. GSP is 5'10" with a 78" wingspan. It is a reason he was uber successful. Jon Jones is 6'4" with a 84" wingspan. He is no Sean Sherk, fosho.
  9. Is that why Sean Sherk could only dead lift 135lbs RAW?
  10. There is reason for this. The best man up is a national title contender, that is why. At Iowa? Neither of the weights you mentioned have high contender probabilities. R12 aspirations instead of R16 aspirations would not be a reason. You bet your ass, though, that if Franklin were to cement himself as the starter and Focus was able to transfer in 2nd semester that Focus would then get the nod. That is a mighty hypocritical philosophical take.
  11. Who has been larger since or during his NCAA title? Name a single NCAA wrestler that has wrestled 197 that is larger during the last three years. The only person that I can think of that made him look 'average' was when he wrestled 97 KG against Honis. And he still wasn't small compared to Honis. Honis (who makes Snyder look small) was just simply a full-sized 97 KG (16lbs heavier) guy.
  12. Amine, who was heavier than Truax at NCAAs, was dwarfed by him. He also was considerably larger than Nino. He was not small at 197. I think you are grossly overestimating most 197lbers actual sizes.
  13. Your post ignores a lot of common logic/knowledge. Ever hear of David Taylor, for example? Try googling him. It might clarify the reasoning as to why he is not beating these Worlds/Olympics medalists at Worlds or the Olympics.
  14. You could split this in to eras. John Smith/Dave Schultz could be the end of one Era or the beginning of the next. Wrestling Pre-1991 and after were quite different.
  15. He is upwards over 230 right now. You think he wants to shrink back down to 197 and risk lowering his deadlift?
  16. My takes on your OP in BOLD UNDERLINE. My opinion is that their peak performance team would be Brands dropping to 157 and Arnold at 174. Chittum just has not impressed in a couple of years. He reminds me of a smaller version of Taylor Massa. He dominated so easily for so long until he got big and ran in to some other strong kids who also were good. I am okay being wrong. I do think that the better Iowa is, the better the state of wrestling in the USofA.
  17. Per Minnow, 141 is where Cannon wants to go? I, personally, wouldn't mind Ragusin or Cannon going up. It's a PUSH to me.
  18. Also, McHenry is in the portal (unfortunately). https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6131952-kurt-mchenry-releases-top-5-schools-list His top five, in alphabetical order, was Cornell, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, and Stanford. Cornell - Ungar, Edge Ungar - Diakomihalis, Edge Diakomihalis - If healthy - Milani (RS?), Edge McHenry Michigan - DeAugustino, Edge DeUagustino - If healthy - McHenry, PUSH - Horwath, Edge Horwath (Very high on this guy) North Carolina - Moore, Edge McHenry - Hunt, Edge McHenry - Guanajuato/Tocci (RS?), Edge McHenry Penn State - Howard, Edge Howard - If healthy - Steen, Edge McHenry - Davis (RS?), Edge Davis (Very high on this guy) Stanford - Provo, PUSH (Provo has three years left, so edge him?) - Richter, Edge McHenry - Chundi, Edge McHenry I think, if he is looking at the same five again the more likely options are North Carolina to start or Penn State as a security blanket (as in he doesn't expect to start). Before you say "Oh but he is leaving Michigan because he is being recruited over." That may be true, that doesn't mean he expects to start wherever he goes or ends up. It means he wants a fair chance to prove himself, and he might be able to do that with Penn State. Doubt it, but possible. All this said, we could see him go the Decatur route and dominate D2 (to be clear - he would dominate D2). He could also go the MAC/SOCON route and I think he would do excellent there. In any case, I hope he does well and ends up winning some matches at NCAAs the next year or two.
  19. So now he is quoting me, a deplorable?
  20. I think something else is in order, yes... Gold - Bye to Best of Three. Medalist (including Gold from a different weight) - Bye to Semifinals if the Challenge Tournament.
  21. Also, gents... Cannon has two years left of eligibility.
  22. Woodley was there this year but couldn't work something out with his transfer. He even completed his alpha. He had mentioned he was trying to get some sort of waiver, but I doubt it. Walters will still get five (5) goes at varsity action, much like Rogers. I am happy to hear that about Jenkins. He weighed in at 221 at the only tournament he wrestled this season so I hope he is on that Parris plan.
  23. I lied. He is seeded 3rd. Johnny D is seeded 2nd. Rivera is seeded 1st. Gomez is unseeded.
