Hidlay destroyed Beard.
-
I would like to point this out, per Wrestlestat... 2023 - #6 Ohio State over #9 Michigan 23 - 15 2022 - #3 Michigan over #13 Ohio State 29 - 8 2021 - #7 Michigan over #11 Ohio State 18 - 16 2020 - #21 Michigan and #3 Ohio State Did Not Compete 2019 - #4 Michigan over #5 Ohio State 19 - 17 2018 - #2 Ohio State over #3 Michigan 18 - 15 2017 - #17 Michigan and #2 Ohio State Did Not Compete 2016 - #11 Michigan over #3 Ohio State 21 - 11 2015 - #5 Ohio State over #14 Michigan 25 - 15 2014 - #9 Michigan over #10 Ohio State 18 - 17 Of the eight times they have wrestled in the last ten years, only once has the lower rated (R A T E D) team won. Ohio State would have been favored in four to Michigan's four, however Michigan holds a 5W-3L record in those eight duals and the higher rated, or favorite, is 7W-1L in that same span. Michigan is currently 'ranked' #8 and Ohio State is 'ranked' #11. I felt my breakdown was rather unbiased for how biased I could have been and it has Michigan comfortably winning, still. Mind you, were Ohio State able to flip 149, 165, 174, 184, and 285 I would be surprised... but I wouldn't be surprised to see them flip a couple/few of them. They are tough matches and it is a rivalry dual.

Doesn't count. Davis is a Michigander, too. Edit: McCrone might be the only 'kid' who looks younger than Davis in the B1G...
-
He'll tech the guy who also showed very little effort on the weekend and just got dismantled by Hamiti? I think it's more likely we see Mantanona for Michigan or Chase for the Ohio State before we see Amine and Hepner wrestle this weekend. Something was off with one or both of them.
-
Feldman had to take almost an entire year off the mat. This is basically his True Frosh season and he is doing it after a lengthy layoff.

125 I think DeAuggie has just too much 'old' in him for McCrone to handle. Not a very good style matchup for McCrone. The score might seem close, but I think DeAuggie wins a controlled 8-3 or 8-6 Decision type match where he gets the RT, but gives up a late TD. UofM 3-0 133 Man, oh man... I know Ragusin has that DAWG in him, but I don't like how he matches up with Bouzakis. I think Bouzakis has the horsepower to make it a long night for Ragusin and so long as he avoids the big move I think he takes it. I'll give Ragusin the opening takedown, but Bouzakis wins the TD battle 3-1 and comes out on top via Decision 11-5 with a takedown with about 30 seconds and a rideout to secure RT. Tied 3-3 141 Another matchup that I am particularly concerned for the UofM gent. I think Mendez picks him apart to a tune of a 13-2 or 16-3 Major. Add a point for RT if you like. tOSU 7-3 149 I think if D'Emilio can keep this close he might be able to chase him down in the 3rd. I don't think he'll do it, though. Gomez hits a bit 7 pointer in the first and goes in to the 2nd with a 10-1 lead and a cushy 45 second RT advantage. It ends up being too much of a sprint for D-Emilio and while get gets two stalling points in the third, he drops a 12-9 Decision to Gomez. tOSU 7-6 157 I think this ends up being a typical 4-1 Lewan match over Wilcox. No explanation needed. UofM 9-7 at the break. 165 Neither looked particularly good this last weekend. Amine looked lethargic and I have a feeling we see Mantanona here. I also think he comes out with a bang and beats Hepner. Wrestlestat agrees to a Decision tune of 11-9. Let's go with that. UofM 12-7 174 I think Griffith knows the game a little better at this point and wins a 4-2 Decision with an early counter takedown off Welsh. If It's Walker here, it'll be a similar score the other way. UofM 15-7 184 This would be a good match for Rogotzke to shed his shirt, if that is the plan. I don't think it is and I think we end up seeing Gavin Bell here (I believe the rumors are that Shumate and Hoffman are dinged up yeah?). If Bell is too heavy (if he weighed in over 186.8 in his 197lb match last weekend he won't be able to wrestle 184 this weekend), it could be Carter Chase we see here. I think Bullock gets a Major on Bell, though. Will be worse against Chase. 16-6 Major. UofM 19-7 197 I am hoping we see Rogers here again. I am not sure he beats Geog, but it is a toss-up. Wrestlestat calls it a one point match. Sure. 5-4 Decision. RT for Geog might happen, too. UofM 19-10 285 I think Davison is just too much for Feldman right now and ends up taking the Takedown battle comfortably 4-0. Add in riding time and it is 13-3/14-4 type match. Just a bad matchup right now for Feldman. UofM 23-10 Michigan wins.

Tank is back at 97 KG. Chamizo up to 79 KG. Micic up at 74 KG. Finesilver as the 86 KG guy and the gun guy at 92 KG for Israel. Like 15 Americans at 65 KG.

These rankings are trash in so many areas...
-
We agree it was a mistake. It still happened, though. I won't believe it can't happen because it absolutely could.

How many matches did Joe Smith win in 2018-19 at 165 prior to taking the spot from Chandler Rogers after their wrestleoff?
-
Kind of my point, isn't it? Smith doesn't do that, though. Results are results to him. Unless he has changed suddenly.
-
Not really the point. Williams beat him in competition. They wrestle at a school that has used wrestleoffs to determine who goes at the end if the season, if they are both NQ caliber gents. Obviously you know they train together.
-
He might be wrestling real well right now, but he didn't when it mattered at NCAAs last year. He failed to place whereas Elam brough homr 3rd. Elam hasn't lost this year (yet). Buchanan beat Elam last time they wrestled, so he gets the benefit of the doubt there. Whereas we might predict Beard beats one and/or both, that is not how rankings work. Rankings work off actual results not projected results or current momentum. Beard is 'rated' as #3 by Wrestlestat because it is not a ranking service.
-
Why not? He beat Teague in competition. Also, I did say IF.
-
You say "No way." with Smith having a history of trusting the wrestleoff. If Williams were to go up and beat Teague (again) then why would he not get the nod?
-
If Alvarez has cemented himself over Williams, then might we see Williams at 157? He defeated Teague this year.
-
He got destroyed by Hidlay. His #7 ranking reflects that.

I would say Cornell at 184 has to be mentioned. -

Well you're not just an idiot, but a broke one. Thank you for being wrong again, West Coast Dan The Man. Also... picking on a 'so-called' 3rd grader gets you off there, bud? Gross. -
The guy is a gem.

Because it is true, mate.

Michigan PSU, sorry couldn't find old topic.

Aside for Lewan, Amine, and to some extent Griffith, I like how the gents have wrestled. Davison and DeAuggie didn't give up when they could easily have done so. -

Davis should have been the #1 already. He beat the guy who beat the guy.
