Suriano beat him in HS it was the off season though

Dean wasn’t a regular run of the mill portal guy…the ivy cancelled a whole season , had whispers that might do it again and I believe dean wasn’t a big fan of the ridiculous Covid and vax polices of Cornell and NY , he literally walked on at penn state with no scholarship $$ or guarantee of a spot ..I’m sure dean would’ve preferred to finish school at Cornell in a perfect world
-
Why is it amusing coming from him?

Rutgers 197 has been in and out of the line up , 141 just left the team but they have a NQ coming out of Redshirt to replace him , and 165 still isn’t decided yet ..and Boone the Hwt injury defaulted out of his last match against rider after taking a mean headbutt…125, 133 , 184 are their biggest strengths every other weight is young and inconsistent

Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight
Antitroll2828 replied to flyingcement's topic in College Wrestling
Minnow currently running a hit campaign on Alvarez ,trying to be Goodales full time propagandist…saw on his twitter that allegedly Alvarez missed weight 10 plus times which doesn’t seem correct, also after 3 times thats probably on the coaches and apparently he “cost Rutgers valuable post season points” which idk what the hell that means ..like did Rutgers finish 9th in the big 10 instead of 8th? Or 27th at ncaas instead of 25th? Valuable postseason team points lmao I had to take a picture of the thread it’s so amusing either way if you have an athlete miss weight 10x you are a s**t coach bc it’s obviously after 3/4 times that the athlete shouldn’t even be attempting it …what do you even say as a coaching staff after the 7th time “ don’t worry Sammy you’ll make it this time , just another 2 hrs in the sauna and keep spiting” -
Penn state does it too but it you have to move a full year prior to college to establish residency in pa , but the Lee family and Nevilles, all moved to happy valley prior to enrollment

Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight
Antitroll2828 replied to flyingcement's topic in College Wrestling
He didn’t get a chance to wrestle MVB , Goodale loves the van brills , mike lost the wrestle off to white last year and they stuck with MVB ,…Seabass transferring in then saying he would go 133 back to back years only to end up going 141 really screwed Alvarez, the first season at 133 it what it is ,but the fact the Rutgers coach’s had him try and make it again last season is insane , Alvarez has a redshirt available but instead had him cutting insane amounts of weight then threatened to kick him off the team for not making it …the whole situation is sad and a waste of High AA talent …obviously a lot of blame is on Sammy but Rutgers coaches have some egg on their face too , they haven’t done much right since with Alvarez since the day Seabass transferred in -
This is the softest wrestling thread in the history of both wrestling and threads

Why wouldn’t Kerk be favored ? You are basing this off of one match 3 years ago when kerk was undersized with bad staph and wrestled for 2 weeks going into big tens? ..Schultz just lost to a true freshman who he outweighed by 50 60 pounds and A.J Nevilles
-
Kerk literally beat Cassioppi already this year

Who remembers the Iowa is fun too era?
Antitroll2828 replied to headshuck's topic in College Wrestling
All the nevills are still at penn state though , Seth just wrestled in team duals and is on the football team too , nick trains at the NLWC -
Your entire argument is penn state should have turned away a 2x AA ,ncaa finalist who walked on with no recruitment and no scholarship money for beard, bc he has more eligibility? even though beard has never truely looked like a title contender and Dean literally beat him multiple times in wrestles off and then won an ncaa title …beard is in his 5th year out of high school and has placed 7th one time and has the same amount of loses as dean this year , heck the biggest win of his career is over Dean , a 2 pt win in his home gym in mid December in a match he had every reason to really get up for , plus there has been talk of brooks eventually moving up to 197 , which could happen next season so I doubt penn state is sweating beard leaving
-
Beard also got a chance against Schultz and completely gassed and gave up 4 stalling points and lost
-
Beard and dean wrestled twice last season
-
No not his brother , don’t think they are related , Seth went to apple valley in Minnesota, Caleb is from Wisconsin I think
-
He only beat stefanik (a bulked up 174 pounder ) 3-2 the round before
-
Both guys were really good on top and point scorers , Carter would really step it up every march
-
I think I liked more comments on this thread then I have in years on the forum , you guys are great

Appreciate the optimism that we are gonna witness history , but spencer has wrestled twice maybe in 12 months and yianni already lost one match and went to OT in another and seems like he’s over the whole college/ folk style thing , I believe that if yianni didn’t have a chance at being a 4xer he wouldn’t have even come back this year combine that with a very hungry and pretty deep weight guess we ll see how it goes ….. fun fact about Dan hodge sometime in the early 80s he ran into a group of recon marines in a bar/ restaurant type place while on vacation , a few of the guys wrestled themselves, so they knew who he was and went and talked to him , shook his hand, but the biggest of the group was a guy about 6’4 270 pounds , he instantly challenged hodge to a wrestling match , hodge laughed it off and said no but the guy persisted and eventually later on hodge agrees but tells the guy he’s not going to hold back , long story short they wrestled for about 10 seconds and hodge doubled him so hard the guy chipped his elbow on the ground and broke 2 ribs and instantly gave up , add insult to injury the big guy got disciplined by the marines for what they considered an injury sustained in a bar fight

Honestly 157 is wide open and couldn’t be shocked to see Coleman make a run to the finals , he’s as good as anyone else at the weight , and Ramos is real tough , I think they both break through this season

Neweruser69's Early Season Hot Takes
Antitroll2828 replied to neweruser69's topic in College Wrestling
Agree with the rest of these, if O’Conner gets right health wise I think he wins a 2nd..Bartlett could win or he could lose by 1 in the quarters and then blood round and not AA , he’s been more aggressive lately hopefully that keeps up -

Everyone is going to talk about carr and o toole all season and then Griffith is gonna beat them both and win OW at ncaas , his match with otoole last year was razor thin and carr wrestles alot of close low scoring matches with top guys I think that works against him with Griffith -
Aaron Brooks was 100% pinned by Marcus Coleman
Antitroll2828 replied to BaldAt23's topic in College Wrestling
This thread is wild…mostly people complaining that penn state fans aren’t upset enough about brooks losing a dec dual? ..seriously that one poster was having a stroke bc the penn state forums weren’t upset enough about the lose , no honest person compares Hawkeye report with any other teams forum, the PSU forums are just filled with a bunch of homers like every other teams , meanwhile Hawkeye report is like the Alex jones forum for wrestling …all types of conspiracies about anyone good not at Iowa on steroids , or the secret penn state / Cael bank accounts , the forum reads like satire half the time ….y’all are crazy sometimes ….anyway shout to Coleman for beating a multiple time champ , hopefully that boasted his confidence and we see a new Coleman the rest of the season -
Ramos made the R12 up a weight last year and Coleman just needs to stay healthy , he has multiple wins over Robb, Lewan, knocked off guys like berge and young in his career…both of these guys could be on podium this year
