Not disagreeing , I meant how quick the fans turn on and talk negatively about athletes , I know Aragona lost his love for the sport,I don’t blame anyone for him leaving , I still don’t think 40 yr fans should be trashing the kids I’m from NJ and I like Rutgers bc I always root for NJ kids before anything else , I also like goodale , I competed against him in HS , had friends go wrestle for him in college ,then a couple kids I’ve coached went to wrestle for him , I think he’s a great guy and coach.. my point is this Alvarez situation is more than just meets the eye

I think the relationship with the coaches have been strained with all the issues with him at 133 the past 2 seasons , but I feel last year was on the coaching staff for even attempting to have him make a weight after he tried and failed the year before , obviously blame falls on Alvarez but Seabass for back to back off seasons said he was going 133 then said screw it and went 141 causing Alvarez to make the cut ,and rumor was Goodale wasn’t going to let anyone challenge Mike van brill at 149 for his last year so Alvarez only option was 133 again or redshirt…I think him leaving was the best for both sides bc Alvarez didn’t seem committed to Rutgers and the coaches really botched some stuff with him the past 2 years and seem to lost his trust , hopefully both find some success apart
-
Right now he would get manhandled but they can put him on the Derek white cowboy bulk job and by next year I think he could be legit , he’s pretty tall and apparently he’s never been a big weight room guy so if they can get him on a solid everyday plan he can make big gains
-
The difference is he didn’t miss weight , they didn’t give him a chance to make it , bc like I said before there has been some issues with the coaching staff
-
Maybe fix is really dropping to 125, then young could go 133 where he belongs , and Alvarez going 141…from what I heard Alvarez issue at Rutgers this year wasn’t so much the weight cut , it was a disconnect or issues with the coaches that boiled over and led to what alot of Rutgers fans and people are saying is a lack of dedication to the sport
-
No they are not better off with oliveri lol oliveri is solid and might develop into an AA but Alvarez has high AA, finalist potential…crazy how fast Rutgers fan base turns on guys , the way Aragona was trashed last year and Alvarez this year, they left “your” team , get over it …and if you are gonna trash an athlete at least have the facts right …he didn’t quit after he missed weight he quit after he showed 5 pounds over on match day ( which wrestlers have been doing for a long time) and the coaches were pissed and told him he wasn’t wrestling

Better 4-timer: Spencer Lee or Kyle Dake?
Antitroll2828 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
His utter domination of molinaro is almost impressive at beating Taylor in 2 close matches , not many people could dominate him like that , dake could have rode molinaro til he dyed of starvation if he wanted -
Ok. State is the rumor

You are talking about one match from 3 years ago , since that match Seabass is 42-4 , with loses to Tariq Wilson and Cole matthews and his best wins are 2 one point Ws over Red and 3-2 over Woods taking 4th and 3rd at ncaas and 3rd and 6th at big tens he also med forfeited 3 matches …RBY is 43-0 , beating fix 2x , Desanto 4x , McGee 2x, finishing 1st at ncaas and big tens 2x , and I believe he’s only been take down 1 time since the Seabass match up …since 2020 rby cleared jumped to another level, maybe 2 and Seabass is basically the same guy he was when he beat spencer lee at 125 ….rby is the far superior wrestler , one match up 3 years ago doesn’t change that
-
Rivera stalled to beat Lee? In the big 10s rivera has down 3-0 going into the 3rd came back scored 4 points while lee did nothing , then went to OT bc lee had a riding time point and Rivera took him down again …pretty hard to “stall” when you are down 3-0 and then get 3 straight takedowns
-
Are you trolling ? Bc Dake joined already lol

Antitroll2828 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
He did just beat an NCAA finalist the other day not exactly avoiding competition -
Schutlz only beat stefanik 3-2 this year only a 6 point swing
-
Glory beats Courtney 8-3
-
Princeton takes it too ASU winning 7 matches in a 24-14 W
-
That was Spencer’s healthiest season
-
Pitt also just got blasted by WVU last week , very up and down team this year
-
You are right …Suriano beat lee in super 32 finals when he was freshman and lee was in 8th grade , then lee came back the next year and beat Suriano in the finals
-
Suriano beat him in HS it was the off season though

Dean wasn’t a regular run of the mill portal guy…the ivy cancelled a whole season , had whispers that might do it again and I believe dean wasn’t a big fan of the ridiculous Covid and vax polices of Cornell and NY , he literally walked on at penn state with no scholarship $$ or guarantee of a spot ..I’m sure dean would’ve preferred to finish school at Cornell in a perfect world

Why is it amusing coming from him?
-
Rutgers 197 has been in and out of the line up , 141 just left the team but they have a NQ coming out of Redshirt to replace him , and 165 still isn’t decided yet ..and Boone the Hwt injury defaulted out of his last match against rider after taking a mean headbutt…125, 133 , 184 are their biggest strengths every other weight is young and inconsistent

Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight
Antitroll2828 replied to flyingcement's topic in College Wrestling
Minnow currently running a hit campaign on Alvarez ,trying to be Goodales full time propagandist…saw on his twitter that allegedly Alvarez missed weight 10 plus times which doesn’t seem correct, also after 3 times thats probably on the coaches and apparently he “cost Rutgers valuable post season points” which idk what the hell that means ..like did Rutgers finish 9th in the big 10 instead of 8th? Or 27th at ncaas instead of 25th? Valuable postseason team points lmao I had to take a picture of the thread it’s so amusing either way if you have an athlete miss weight 10x you are a s**t coach bc it’s obviously after 3/4 times that the athlete shouldn’t even be attempting it …what do you even say as a coaching staff after the 7th time “ don’t worry Sammy you’ll make it this time , just another 2 hrs in the sauna and keep spiting” -
Penn state does it too but it you have to move a full year prior to college to establish residency in pa , but the Lee family and Nevilles, all moved to happy valley prior to enrollment

Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight
Antitroll2828 replied to flyingcement's topic in College Wrestling
He didn’t get a chance to wrestle MVB , Goodale loves the van brills , mike lost the wrestle off to white last year and they stuck with MVB ,…Seabass transferring in then saying he would go 133 back to back years only to end up going 141 really screwed Alvarez, the first season at 133 it what it is ,but the fact the Rutgers coach’s had him try and make it again last season is insane , Alvarez has a redshirt available but instead had him cutting insane amounts of weight then threatened to kick him off the team for not making it …the whole situation is sad and a waste of High AA talent …obviously a lot of blame is on Sammy but Rutgers coaches have some egg on their face too , they haven’t done much right since with Alvarez since the day Seabass transferred in
