Na just done with the grind of competing ,he even mentioned his senior yr of college he might not wrestle freestyle at all and just jump into coaching as that’s his long term goal , I think it was more others pushing him to keep competing for a few years and he gave it a cycle and now it’s time to move on to admin stuff

The reason he opted for Mexico is because he didn’t want to waste years trying to make a team , he wanted to give his Olympic dream a shot then go into fighting he has been training with Dominick Cruz for years now

how many of them are more distinguished wrestlers then the man they are replacing and from the state ? Oklahoma state wanted to replace a legend with a legend and no offense to Scott , Espo and Perry but none of them are on the level of smith and Taylor …Logan is already levels above Tom

Penn state does not get anywhere the level of support that the football team gets , they view themselves as a football school for whatever reason and even the football team is miles and miles behind in terms of NIL when compared to Ohio state , Michigan and sec schools they are still a football school..penn states support outside of hiring Cael came around the time of the first 3 peat while penn state football was trying to build back still from the ncaa death sentence so they needed to embrace the only national champs in the school i always assumed Logan would be the next Ohio state coach , he’s on the staff , 4x ncaa champ , world champ , from Ohio. I feel if he wants the job it’s his . I see Synder mentioned a lot but he wants to wrestle until hes 40 and I don’t think that plan has changed , honestly I can see him wrestling another 10 years until Cael retires then him replacing Cael , they are alot more similar in personalities then almost any of the PSU guys . Dake definitely isn’t taking a backseat to administers , he was pretty out spoken about the Cornell bureaucrats back in 2020, he would need to be with an AD with a similar viewpoint on the world and that’s asking for alot with all that Dake believes ..curious to see what Dake does after the Olympics, his father meant everything to him and his wrestling, he mentioned it like they were always taking this journey together , I could see him taking a break from wrestling after he retires I think most assume JB is going to be a great head coach but i think he’s more suited to maybe running an RTC or OTC . He would recruit great at first but he’s not really a friendly guy and idk if he could handle not winning at program for 2-3 years . He would need a scenario where he’s stepping into an instant winning situation bc I think with any prolonged losing athletes and coaches would probably start to sour on his attitude , I don’t think people realize how arrogant he really is so I don’t think he would handle a booster or admin telling him how to do his job very well. If he stepped into iowa to replace brands I could see it working but him replacing manning ? Yearly underachievers with a low budget RTC in the middle of nowhere ? I think that would eventually turn ugly

St Paris has a few in coaching Steibler at Ohio state , Brascetta at Maryland , Heil was coaching until this most recent Olympic run I think he ll be back in a D1 room sooner then later , NATO was on the duke staff until 2 years ago I know he has his own academy but good chance he jumps back In at some point

Lee gave an interview before Olympic trials saying he’s probably going to try and make a world team next year then retire and become a lawyer like his father , RBY is probably going right into MMA after Olympics he’s been training with Dominick Cruz for years now ..Synder wants to wrestle until he’s 40

head coach at rising ACC school, then top assistant at ok state , then starting over as head coach at an underwhelming ivy-less EIWA school all in a 3 yr span when you’ve had nothing but success in that time frame , that has to be tough , I’d be feeling real bitter if I was Coleman Scott right now

I doubt he wants to come home to be an assistant and Penn state , Pitt , lock haven and Lehigh are pretty set with coaches so what is he going to coach Franklin and Marshall? Bloomsburg?

Word on the Oklahoma state forum and around the wrestling world is that he was verbally promised bc they couldn’t legally promise him and he was all set to take over but DT called ok state when smith retired and that changed the entire plan

Weirdness ? Coleman Scott is probably burning every piece of Oklahoma state clothing that he owns right now . He sold his house left a pretty good head coaching position and moved his family across the country with promises he was the next head coach , now one way or the other he’s out of a job , how many years will he have to wait til another job even on the UNC level presents itself?

Had no idea Brooks Black was fighting , I thought he would be a world beater in college ,I guess injuries really slowed him down though but i definitely will keep a look out for him on the fighting scene

Strickenberger might be moving up to 133 he’s pretty tall and that cut was really difficult towards the end of the season and maddox has had a losing record all 5 years he’s been in school and has no notable wins and not really any good loses either so no guarantee he sees the line up either way

He said they have Bo Nickal .. I pointed out they have an American top team gym right in happy valley and like 8 different guys training to fight in some capacity

Anthony Cassar is also fighting and is undefeated, and I’m pretty sure Nickal is part owner of the American top team gym they built in state college . Kerk, Nolf and Starocci all have expressed desire to go into fighting at some point too so I’d say Illinois will have to battle it out with Penn State for the wrestling Mecca of mma training

He is still younger then everyone on the Olympic team except brooks , he can step back into training tomorrow and by next year the spot is his

Wrestlestat has 2023 listed as his redshirt at the navy prep school, last season he was listed as an injured RS Freshman so I don’t think he can sit ..maybe Babin didn’t have many options bc I believe he’s a grad student, either way seems Pitts first 3 weight classes will be all NJ guys

He doesn’t have explosive offense , he had 3/4 loses his senior year at 144 and got completely controlled by a freshman in the state finals , all of those things don’t usually translate to big 10 success, Rutgers has a lot of guys in the room at 141-157 that I don’t think Nini ever beats most of them , and the original poster had Nini starting at 157 in 2025 and if that’s the case it’s a disaster scenario for Rutgers

Nini is probably never going to be 157 and might never break the lineup , Harer could be a career 157 and Gibson is never going to be a 141 , if he’s beating Peterson or Shawver then one of them would likely just transfer as grad students .None of the 3 are ever going to be 141s unfortunately I could see Oliveri staying 141 and possibly a guy like Fongaro eventually breaking in at 149 or vice versa

Koll kept Leeth and maybe some other coaches when he got to Stanford and he kept Tony Ramos at UNC

I believe Matt Dernlan stayed on at penn state for 2 years when Cael came in

Probably going to be tough to find someone for the job , the school just canceled in person learning for the rest of the year because of safety issues bc of the non stop protests on campus and you definitely aren’t going to be able to recruit any Jewish wrestlers there
