Anyone else find it crazy Max Dean 197 ncaa champ is wrestling Evan wick a 3x placer at 165 ..these 2 had 30 pounds in between them just 2 seasons ago

That’s wild that I don’t remember that , I always liked watching duca wrestle from his paulsboro days , just figured he peaked in high school like most paulsboro wrestlers I didn’t realize all these shenanigans went on…random but he just got inducted in the south Jersey hall of fame the end of last year

Indiana has definitely had success with Jersey guys in the past , Fongaro had a great year , I really thought he could beat Vombaur and push to AA , and you can’t forget about the legend Taylor Walsh and his wild style

I think it goes beyond that , seems to be something personal with that beef. I saw a post where Corby said none of Stutz best guys like him or speak to him (which might be true I have no idea) but I know that Mike Dessino (RIP) loved the guy so I’m not sure who Corby is referring too. Maybe Matt Moley ? Rich Perry? Some buffalo guys? I haven’t seen any athlete talk negative about stutzman before but who really knows

Rune Lawerence will probably start right away at 197 for West Virginia, 4x Pa state champ 145-7 career record and should be an upgrade right off the bat 197 for WV

Gilman completely changed it up once he got to happy valley , watch his flo film he did after he got there, he was walking around in flip flops going to the coffee shops

Not disagreeing with your take on Gilman I just meant he might stop wrestling and start climbing mountains or end up a hippie living in the desert or something else wild and unexpected bc he is just a different kind of cat then most of your average high level guys

They announced the coaching staff and that they are all good to move ahead and start competing yesterday , that’s why I decided to make a post about it

I feel like I read or heard an interview where McKenna said he was going to the Wharton school of business when he started training at penn RTC so he probably has a big $$ job waiting I don’t think he goes into college coaching in any full time capacity, Gilman is a weird dude idk if he goes into coaching

Felician University In Bergen County is starting Men and Womens programs this upcoming season , they will be the only D2 program in the state A one time teammate of mine Dale Fava who spent some time at lock haven before becoming a multi time D3 qualifier for Del Val has been named head coach this week. Fava was the real deal back in the day and lost to Jordan Burroughs in OT in the state semifinals Burroughs senior yr , I also watched him pin Pat Mineo in under a minute once lol Fred Santaite a NJ state champ and multiple time NQ for Boston ( you may remember when he knocked off Nickerson the first night of ncaa many years ago ) has been named the assistant coach all and all great news, located in a very talent rich area and coached by local guys I would expect them to hit the ground running and am excited to see what the future holds.

Well shawver and Peterson both have 2 years and no redshirts remaining , is it a definite he would start right away over either of them assuming he’s 125/133

Some Iowa fans believe Caliendo can go 157 and was apparently the lightest out of Franek, Kennedy and himself to start the year so in that world Kennedy would slide in at 165, if Iowa has big hopes for next season they kind of need Caliendo to go 157

Agreed , I became a fan when he was in high school during those years when Bergen catholic had about 10-12 D1 wrestlers in the lineup and him just a tiny group 1 school kid and he would wrestle Griffith tough and beat foca like 4x in one season , guy is a real competitor

I heard during the season he was getting healthy and was planning on using his last season and he was listed on last years roster as a graduate student and inj RS . I figured he’d make one more run of it but I can’t much info on him at the moment, I’m gonna do some digging

Mike O’Malley will be back at Drexel for his super sr year, he took an inj RS this season but was R12 2 years a few years back losing 5-2 to Kemmerer and was NQ the next season but hurt his shoulder late in the year and flamed out at Eiwa and ncaas , over a full year to recover he could be an AA threat , he’s another guy Bergen county guy that’s like 10-0 in his career against Foca

He turned 20 2 months before ncaas

Ryan talks all high and mighty but the amount of shenanigans that happened with bringing in McKenna is worse then all this Michigan NIL money, not to mention Tashon Campbell announced he was transferring to Ohio state literally the day after ncaas a few years back

Kittatinny is still competing every year for group titles ,Valenti high school coach Gill is still there in his 40 or 50 something year but they don’t have the top level talent they used too, maybe they have a placer every other year or so, no state champs since Valenti brother in 08 and he’s also the last D1 AA from Kitt , He AAed for Virginia in 11 or 12

Philly has gotten substantially worse since 2011 and the surrounding areas have been hit with a crime wave since 2020 and it keeps pushing out further out ,me and the mrs used to go to Philly every fall for years until 2021 then it wasn’t worth it . I plan on going to ncaas next year but intend on staying NJ and just driving to the arena everyday , and I say that as someone who grew up and worked in shitty areas my whole life and has a CC permit in PA. The ncaa being so close for the first time since 2016 is literally the only thing that could get me to go to Philly nowadays
