In your opinion, how many of the 70+ D1 Wrestling Programs opt IN ? Will the National Tourney only include opt ins ? If so, what do the opt outs do for post season ? Let’s say only 5 of the Big 12 Wrestling Programs opt in, do you only schedule those teams in consideration of Allocation Criteria ?

Yes, I remember this thread/analysis but can’t provides any more details. 3 to 5 yrs ago IIRC.

Agree that firing is not going to happen. He deserves to exit on his terms. But … it’s NOT been “1 down year”. The past 2 seasons have been disappointing and really hard to watch. I have been a fan & supporter of the Program before Smith even arrived … really admire what he has built … but something tells me things aren’t going to significantly improve going forward. Hope I am wrong.

This would help. Seeds are a reflection of Coaches Rankings which are a reflection of Media Rankings which are a reflection of previous Season results. At least not issue a Ranking until Jan. 1 which would include CKLV, Midlands, & Salute plus other tourneys & duals.

My 22nd Tournament this year. My Rankings differ slightly from yours : 1. Session 3 (far & away the best IMO as the QF are always just on fire) 2. Session 4 (easily the 2nd best with SF & blood - huge points round) 3. Session 6 (THE culmination but a ton of pageantry & wasted time for 10 matches) 4. Session 1 (just because of the anticipation of having waited a year & it finally being here) 5. Session 5 (All American matches but usually worn out being Day 3) 6. Session 2 (the excitement of session 1 gone with anticipation of Friday's QF)

Any wrestler who abandoned their previous Program via the Transfer Portal.

Is Peterson healthy enough to make any kind of run ? He mff to 6th place after getting hurt in the QF.

Per Intermat Rankings, four (4) Top 10 ranked wrestlers had their Allocation stolen. #4 Trumble, #5 Norman, #9 Knox, & #10 Moore. Is there anything unique about this Qualifier that makes highly ranked wrestlers more susceptible to under-performing ? Just seems odd.

3 Qualifiers for CSB. Kudos for them. Can’t remember the last time they had 3. Always rooting for the smaller Programs during this era of Transfer Portals/NIL !

I have always been a fan of “True 2nd” for Allocations of 2. Does anyone know if IVY will be doing that for this 1st Tourney ?

Williams with a total of 6 Takedowns vs none against Lamer & Stiles. Very impressive ! Could make some real noise in Philly.

Hawks doesn't have the required 15 matches for an RPI. As such he did not receive an Allocation. Both Robin & Neitenbach received B12 Allocations. Note sure why Hawks wasn't sent to a Last Chance qualifier to get a few more matches ?

Wondered this as well. Thought he might be descending down to 125 with Diak being out … but guess not.

Maybe its the B12 dual record vs Big 12 "Tourney entrants" only ? If so, any "ducks" or "backups" used for load managed/sick/injured wrestlers wouldn't count as a Win ?

OToole also has dual wins vs N.Iowa & Iowa State Not sure why it shows 1-0 ?

Wow, have NOT heard that name in awhile. Wasn't he the official of the Churella vs Hendricks Final ? I was there 20 some years ago and the arena was going crazy !

Ok. I remember it being “common knowledge” that they would complete in the MAC. Whatever, your right. Now that we have that established … updates ?

Any updates ? This will be the 4th MAC Program “recently” axed following E. Michigan, Old Dominion, & Lindenwood. It “Feels” like others could soon follow. Hope to be wrong, but concerned for many Programs in the MAC, SoCon, P12, & EIWA.
