  2. I have been wondering this same thing for several years now.
  3. Seems like the smaller Conferences are alreday doing this (SoCon, MAC, EIWA). However, it doesn't seem to happen much or not at all in P5 Conferences.
  4. Number 21 for me. This will hopefully prove to be a much better venue than the last time KC hosted (Kemper Arena in 2003).
  5. Good post and agree with your points ! However, Caputo was Harvard & Clemsen was in HS here during Smith's tenure. A far as Missouri kids leaving to AA elsewhere, I believe this is the full list. Not saying that all these wrestlers were interested in Mizzou or would have been good fits for the Program. B. Lowe – Oak Grove / Minnesota L. Caputo – Blue Springs / Harvard A. Clemsen – Moberly / Edinboro Z. Bailey – Oak Park / Oklahoma R. Mango – Whitfield / Stanford N. Lester – Eureka / Oklahoma C. Brewer – Oak Park / Oklahoma B. Stauffer - Neosho / Arizona St. C. Lance – Nixa / Nebraska
  6. Change anything ? IMO, the biggest benefit would be the Regular Season (i.e. Duals) becoming more meaningful which I believe we would all welcome.
  7. Agree that this is likely a big part of Teams participating in fewer Tornaments. Maybe more Tournaments need to be structured like CKLV where only rostered wrestlers compete and only ONE wrestler per weight class per team are allowed.
  8. Agree. Soldier Salute was a deeper Tournament than the Southern Scuffle. The # of participating Top 20 ranked wrestlers (per Intermat @ time of Tourney) : CKLV : 92 Midlands : 35 Soldier Salute : 20 Southern Scuffle : 14 Scuffle numbers were down by roughly half as compared to last season, Midlands were about the same, & CKLV was considerably higher. I do not have numbers for last seasons Soldier Salute. CKLV is now clearly the best "In Season" Tournament as it had more Top 20 Ranked wrestlers (92) than Midlands, Soldier Salute, & Southern Scuffle COMBINED (69).
  9. These are the “realities” of the current D1 Wrestling landscape & need to be considered/understood before criticizing small, mid, & non-Big 10 D1 Programs.
  10. This. Like placing Top 4 wasn’t already difficult enough … especially in light of recent obstacles/challenges presented by the Transfer Portal & NIL. This really stinks and just didn’t need to be done.
  11. Changing a MD from 8 to 10 points and the TF from 15 to 20 would most accurately reflect the same level of “dominance” with the new scoring. 10 & 20 would even be easier numbers for the casual fan to understand & remember.
  12. Any info regarding attempts to somehow keep/fund the Program ?
  13. After building their Program through the years to finally transition to D1 … then this. This really blows for the State of Missouri & Wrestling in general. Super disappointing.
  14. How many of these matchups are actually #1 vs #2 (via any ranking) ? Your point is not valid as this event is nowhere close to being a #1 vs #2 event and hasn’t been for awhile.
  15. Not sure I would categorize a 650-700 mile trip from Stephenville TX to either Kearney or Columbia (MO) as being “within driving distance”. Lol.
  16. Agree. Have always thought the same. It’s almost like you are “over-rewarding” the winner who couldn’t win outright in 7 minutes (or) “over-penalizing” the loser who was competitive enough to put the match into sv or tb.
  17. Started in Illinois, finished in Missouri @ CBC High School.
  18. @ 157, a case could be made for Vinny Zerban (N. Colorado / CBC HS) who was 4-2 & R12 @ NCAA this past season.
  19. It was a great forum for Missouri HS Wrestling. I did the Rankings on that site for several years & it created a lot of discussion. Too bad it dried up.
  20. Disagree. There is a difference between “constructive criticism” & complaining about everything.
  21. 2. Changing first MFF to a loss. A step in the right direction. Call it a L-Forf to distinguish it from L-ID. But a LOSS on the record which affects NCAA Seeding. Hopefully this will decrease mff’s. 3. Reducing the scoring for consolation bracket (no specifics though). I have never understood why Advancement points are reduced by half in Consolations but not Bonus points. ZERO logic to this. IMO, BOTH of these changes would be positive for the sport.
  22. When are the Teams announced for the upcoming Collegiate Duals ?
  23. This It’s great for PSU, Iowa, & other high profile programs. Not so sure if it’s good for the other 60 or so that are losing their best wrestlers.
