  1. He didn't AA last season.. I will say he looks like a force this year, but to act like having a better seed isn't a bigger gain than giving Smith a shot at an upset during the regular season is just unfair. The current seeding system rewards this kind of thing. We saw it with Miller ducking Blaze, and now Ramos not wrestling Smith. Until there is a reason to wrestle, we'll see coaches make the decision that best suits their wrestler's end goals.. best seed for B1Gs/Nationals.
  2. I'm not trying to be rude, but please stop comparing your local high school wrestling in the 70s to D1 wrestling in 2025..
  3. Literally the case here, bud.
  4. I have mixed feelings on the issue. There is a lot of pressure (from media and fans) on Iowa and their role in college wrestling when they already take on arguably two of the biggest out of conference duals with Oklahoma State and Iowa State (as you mentioned). Obviously UNI and Iowa would be good for the sport, especially considering the in-state rivalry, but it's not Iowa's job to wrestle every top program in the country. PSU wrestles essentially nobody outside of the conference schedule and they don't receive nearly the criticism of Iowa.. Cael just gets credit for creating a schedule that helps his athletes peak for March.
  5. Just curious where everyone falls. Ono is obviously the furthest person from a villain possible, but he is taking on America's own Spencer Lee. I'm curious where people fall as far as who/what they are rooting for from this match. Regardless, it's an obvious W for wrestling, but what are you hoping for tomorrow night? For the record, I am picking option 5. I have always rooted for Spencer, especially after having his career so hampered with injuries. I also think Ono is an unbelievable talent and seems to be just the nicest, most pure hearted kid I've ever seen in the sport. Maybe a boring answer, but I just can't pick between two amazing wrestlers/people.
  6. One of the biggest highlights of each regular season without a doubt.
  7. I would expect a surprise somewhere, but that is was it will be.. a surprise.
  8. The topic is greatest 1x champs. Going 2, 1, 3, 2 as well his competitiveness at the senior level makes him deserving of being in the conversation. Perry won some nasty brackets, and Tyler Caldwell is in the conversation of the best to never win an NCAA titles.
  9. Dustin Plott seems to be doing alright after his shoulder issues.
  10. I agree. I don't think there is a single toss-up in the dual. But.. I think OKST vs Iowa in Carver could provoke some chaos. Will it be in your favor?
  11. Ethan Oakley having a sneaky good season.
  12. I think your wording could use some help. But the answer is no. I'm more confident that Mesenbrink wins NCAAs this year than Gable does.
  13. Or you could just relax.
  14. Are you talking about when teams would setup an iPad and live stream an entire dual from a single angle? Those were absolutely terrible. I'll gladly pay an extra $25 dollars a month from November to March for an actual production team to stream the duals.
  15. 125: 25/28 Max Gallagher (PENN) over 8/8 Dean Peterson (RU) by dec., 5-4; Penn leads, 3-0 Look out Vegas, here comes wrestlestat.
  16. Keck went in for the bro hug at the end of the match and Starocci wasn't having it.
  17. I would actually question that. He could easily make the argument that he used this year to show that he can keep his nose clean and would be a more active participant on a more competitive roster next year. I'm not saying that I think he foregoes the post season, but I am saying I won't be all that surprised if he does. And there could very well be conversations going on behind the scenes as we speak.
  18. You gonna split him like a wish bone too?
  19. I think you're missing the difference between a young man who was training to win the peak event for a wrestler, vs a guy who left the sport to chase WWE and the NFL. When it comes down to talent, there is no question where Gable falls, but I think it's fair to question how much of his heart and soul is going into training and how bad he will want it if he has to go to deep waters. I think it's fairly clear that no one is predicting an upset, but if he loses, it is more likely that he isn't as invested as he was previously and that the gas tank could be a reason.
  20. Hammer, he was just saying that he thinks there is a good chance he doesn't wrestle again this season.
  21. Can't lose if you don't compete. He keeps himself out of trouble this year, his potential to be an NCAA champ is still in tact, and he gets some money to show up and compete somewhere next year..
  22. I'll join the waiting list as well.
  23. @bnwtwg is a freak in the (spread)sheets.
  24. I'd accept message board Nephew and Grandson.
  25. I'm trying to stay in good graces of Uncle @MPhillips. I don't want to be lumped in with the rest of "those" in the back.
