  1. Thanks for posting this. Am I thinking of this right - total number 14,225/33 = 431, then divide by 10 weight classes so is this data for 43 years? Pretty impressive! Any chance to cut this down to like the last 15 years and recast?
  2. Do you know if the coaches poll will be released after the portal closes?
  3. He is what he is, but what I found really crazy was the lack of praise for his brother. He mentioned no one could touch him except for his brother and then he said he was the best Ferrari. The new Iowa facility is huge, but I don't think it is big enough for 2 Ferraris!
  4. Thank you for posting these files! So much work into them and fun to use - much appreciated!!!
  5. Trying to leverage the good work of anyone that has built out a nice simulation model for scoring nationals.
  6. Sorry, yes, my eye's missed that one, 100% stand corrected!
  7. Second fiddel's row! I only see likely champ at 184. Everyone else I would put in the semis and not at the top of the podium. Corrected - champs at 165 and and 184! Only way MM doesn' win is if Tonya Harding's crew comes out of retirement and I probably still pick him to win!
  8. Yes, he was injured before wrestle offs and then was injured against Paniro. Paddy has been working through some issues as well. Truth is pretty much everyone on any roster is dinged up one way or another. These guys are so touch just to step on the mat with what they go through.
  9. Coach Ryan has been gently leaking this expected outcome for about a month now. This is what's best for Ohio State. Anyone close to the program knows that Paddy, Sammy and Cannon have all had a lot to overcome and are warriors. We celebrate Sammy and move on to cheering for Paddy and Cannon going forward.
  10. Curious from PSU and tOSU insiders what all this means? How does Sealy do against Kasak? How does Cannon do against Paddy and Sasso? we should see Cannon and Sasso this weekend so that will be answered but how about Sealy?
  11. We will know a lot more after this weekend.
  12. tOSU might have a run on the bank. Kilkeary, Bouzakis and Welsh. Welsh is the one that would hurt the most but probably stays put. Kilkeary and Bouzakis likely out, but not really a loss in points given McCrone and Davino. Also wonder if Davino could drop to 125 and bump McCrone up. PSU double booked at 133 Nagao could be on the way out, I can't see Kasak, Facundo, Sealey, Duke and Cunningham all sticking around. Duke and Cunningham yes, I think Facundo and Sealey have to go, same with Gibson. 30 man roster limit is going to cause some movement which is good for wrestling. PSU has 38 on the roster, loses 9 to graduation and picks up 6 recruits which means 5 must be cut.

  14. So many times I hear how Penn State develops athletes, Ohio State cannot, Iowa kills great recruits and now we have the great David Taylor. We now have the perfect opportunity to crown the best coaching staff for middle weights in 3 years! Which young superstar will be the highest placing 65 KG rep in 2028? Blaze to PSU Bassett to Iowa Forest to Okie State (not yet confirmed) Mendez at tOSU Of those 4, Mendez is the clear number 1 today, will any of the young superstars be able to catch him? Does Mendez pull a Snyder and leave tOSU after he graduates?
  15. A couple of observations: 1 tOSU cannot compete with the top programs from a financial perspective right now 2 the culture on the team is top notch. I’ve seen these guys at tournaments follow around and cheer for each other and coach one another. Only other program that I see do this is at the same level is Penn state. 3 there is some inbreeding with the coaching staff and that probably is part by design but maybe not the best for the program. I will say that there isn’t a program not named Penn state that has outperformed Ohio state for the past 10 years when balancing on the mat results with character and consistency. 4 the experience at the Covelli and the facilities are top 4 and I think that is where OSU will remain unless major money or restrictions come in play. 5 where I think OSU can go from here is that it would need to think outside the box and build a wrestling business model and not rely on donors as much since heavy hitters that love wrestling are in short supply.
  16. Although I think Penn State is not gonna happen, there is this guy named Marcus Blaze that will likely hold down 141 for the next 4 years.
  17. MPhillips - who is the best 57 in the room and who is the best 65 in the room according to your sources? I am not sure if I could say the best 125, 133, 157 and 165 weights are. I think for sure 141, 149, 197 and 285 are crystal clear, 174 I have for Carson and 184 would be Rocco if he was wrestling - I think?
  18. I suspect he may make a decision after Christmas. There are a lot of moving parts with Ohio State's lineup due to injuries and delayed wrestle offs. Gallagher had a pretty good CKLV which makes me think, Gallagher might be the better option at 157. Cannon just beat Chittum so there could be a pending wrestle off with Gallagher and Cannon.
  19. Shapiro has his issues for sure, but in watching the match, clearly he is suffering from head injuries. This is really sad because once it happens, it is very unlikely to be reversed. The only one to overcome that I am aware of is Helen Maroulis. She had to step away, get some type of special treatment and seems to have recovered quite nicely.
  20. I’m quite certain he will compete for a spot. Anyone around the program and RTC knows that he practices. How effective when it’s time to make weight and compete is not known.
  21. Anyone have a read on Iowa wrestle offs? When are they and any insight around 125, 165, 174 and 184?
  22. I’m not sold on Duke just yet but he keeps proving me wrong. I don’t think we have enough appreciation for Blaze just yet. It’s probably because his style is so defensive and it doesn’t wow you. People are who they are so I’m not sure that he will become an offensive juggernaut but if moving up to 65kg helps with his energy and gives him a couple more offensive attacks, I do think he is Olympic gold caliber.
  23. My bad, I stand corrected regarding 141. Still don’t see him going 165 in march
