  1. Is Minnesota the only team to do this?
  2. Aspects of Coach Goldman and his time at Indiana were hard to watch, but he did have guys consistently on the podium, a few in the finals, and some champs. Schools like Little Rock, Campbell, and Rider are getting athletes who get it done. I have zero idea why a school as strong as IU with led with someone as likable as Escobedo- a literal Indiana legend- hasn't yet.
  3. This thread seems a bit premature. Maybe a little more on topic is how hot is Escobedo's seat at Indiana?
  4. David Taylor's Cowboys look pretty good...about 75 points ahead of Nebraska and close to 200 total.
  5. Really it is the final nine unless someone thinks Basset is seriously considering going D2.
  6. All these things can be true at the same time: CP's finger pointing/deflection is super lame, and Flo's attempt to own the mistake via him and Spay was mostly halfa$$ed. ...AND... Whenever Flo screws up, there is mad rush to the interwebs to amplify it to the wrestling world and to build their own online cred. Some people really, really enjoy it. Most were not as upset about the mistake as they where about thrilled about the opportunity to take it to Flo again. That's pretty lame too.
  7. Taylor also had strong evidence (via M2) that he could lead a staff who brings in a bunch of young people, gets their buy-in, and makes them very good at wrestling.
  8. Thank you, David Taylor. It has been a pleasure.
  9. Sadulaev is looking better and better....
  10. For what its worth, there is a very real chance Gansempour makes the final. The assumption Taylor wrestles for Bronze is very premature.
  11. He will be pulled back in. Surely a head coach will not call it a day and will walk the talk and go get the next best thing.
  12. Damn. Not even close. Sad's hips and defense are insane.
  13. That's awesome!
  14. With no real knowledge of anything, just after seeing all his hyper-positivity, polished presence, and his need to share his faith, he and Tom Ryan have to get along really well.
  15. I guess Yianni is out? Somehow that slipped by me. Anyone know what's up?
  16. I'm saying that if USA Soccer wants to consistently compete with Brazil, France, etc... they need to get those guys who become elite football, basketball, and baseball players. In our culture that ain't happening very often. I guarantee you it does in San Paulo or the suburbs of Paris.
  17. No, but I do think the very best athletes in Dagestan and Chechnya, a region roughly with the same population as countries like New Zealand, are wrestling.
  18. Is this too far-fetched? Year in and year out, the very best, biggest, and strongest male athletes in New Zealand play rugby. They excel at rugby. Year in and year out, the best, biggest, and strongest male athletes in France play soccer. They excel at soccer. Year in and year out, the best, biggest, and strongest male athletes in India play cricket. They excel at cricket. Year in and year out, the best, biggest, and strongest male athletes in the USA play American football and to some extent, basketball. You get the idea... Our biggest and best ain't playing soccer which is why the USA is just ok on the world stage. There are great athletes playing for Team USA, but we are not sending our nation's best like France and Brazil are. If our very best grew up playing halfback on the soccer pitch instead of halfback in Pop Warner leagues, USA soccer would be in the mix every year. One could very much make the argument that our very best female athletes ARE playing soccer, which explains American success in world-level soccer.
  19. At no other time in history have we had so many wrestling pundits/"journalists"/talking heads running their mouths via podcasts and websites, creating all sorts of high expectations. I know the Flo dudes and the Bashamania bro convinced a bunch of people that Olympic domination was inevitable. Those sorts of expectations get listens and subscriptions, but they really are not realistic. The world is also really, really good at wrestling.
  20. I really like watching the Japanese team and would love to get a look inside of their development and training programs.
