  1. This would probably fit in many of the different forums. A great perspective not just on wrestling, but life. This exemplifies where a vast majority of wrestlers end up... doing everything right, but not reaching the ultimate goal. The journey and how the journey shapes people is what wrestling is about. I think most of us would agree, that the people we are today was shaped by the experience of wrestling.

  2. Man if they were to add one more piece... Griffith or Buchanan.... they will have Iowa worried about their second place trophy. If they add both....
  3. I can think of worse things at Ok State....
  4. So he's transferring to Penn State?
  5. I'm pretty sure they changed it to one score and switch holds because of what Buxton did to me at Vegas. I'm not bitter.
  6. Maybe bronze his knee brace and hang it up in the wrestling room?
  7. Messenbrink, Rowley, Spratley off the top of my head for this year. Next year will be interesting to see if it happens more.
  8. You have to wonder with their depth, how many guys will stay there who can't get on the mat. Are there guys who will go there....find out that they can't get on the mat... then transfer out knowing they got a couple good years of training to prepare them for their next step of starting at another school? There are guys that will stay the duration, but see little time (Nevills).
  9. Agreed... saving guys to build them up for 4 years may become something of the past. I can see an OLY year, wanted by the the wrestler who has olympic dreams, being used.... but the redshirt of collegiate competition will be less utilized by top wrestlers if they are the best in their weight.
  10. So quiet you can hear a mouse fart.
  11. True PSU fans since 2011...
  12. If I were speaking in terms of wrestling history, then yes.... but it was only in the context of PSU's roster being built this year through the portal and NIL. The context of future rosters being built will be defined in an NIL/Portal era vs Pre-NIL/Portal era. It is it's own category in and of itself, but not the only way to break down eras.
  13. They really messed that one up ... they even raised Bartlett's hand when the official score had Lee as the winner.
  14. I think we need to distinguish the two eras. Assembling and developing a team is different than being able to fill in the holes in free agency. Down the road college sports will refer to eras as Pre and Post NIL/Portal when it comes to dynasties.
  15. Kind of interesting that Larry Lee had a 20 minute interview about withdrawing shortly after the announcement was made.... Hmmmm Spencer Flee needs to take a year or two off - get some surgeries - get a break - and see if he can make a comeback. Good thing he signed that 5 year deal with HWC.
  16. They really messed up the Lee - Bartlett match. After going back through the match, Lee actually won and moves on to the finals. Pretty much everyone had it wrong except the official scorers
  17. Butler is that guy that's always been hovering along the outside edge of the AA tier of wrestlers. I think he makes the jump - solid pick up for Rutgers.
  18. Fly under the radar portal king: Jacob Butler
  19. 48k raised... 223 different donors.... it was a good day for Beaver wrestling. D1 coaches, former coaches, alumni, fans, OSU administration all donating to the cause. Thanks for enduring these posts.
  20. I'm all about the mid-low tier teams getting better. Good for Purdue.
  21. Yes, if that's the correct rule.
  22. Living out his faith as a positive example, in a large secular public school that does not believe the same as him, very well could be the best place to glorify God.
  23. Man, can't imagine how tough this must be for family. 16 year old wrestler (athlete) who died within 24 hours of being diagnosed with Leukemia. https://www.foxnews.com/us/philadelphia-teen-dies-within-24-hours-cancer-diagnosis

  24. THere is a 30 day window for the portal if the coach is fired in-season, but I am not sure about out of season. If found this from 2018 about transferring... this was pre portal but I am guessing it's still valid. ... the student-athlete’s head coach at the original institution resigned or was fired during or after the most recent season of competition, except that the student-athlete is not immediately eligible at another institution at which the head coach is employed;
  25. Almost 39k for OSU wrestling... I am impressed by the coaches who are donating...D1 head coaches supporting OSU wrestling. Wow ... very cool. As a side note it's not Brands or Sanderson.
