Yep... loved the part in his interview where he was brought to tears by the standing ovation at his last home match and how fun it was to coach high school kids. A true legend. Edit: Can you imagine being one of the those HS kids with an old guy walking in the room and thinking you are going to smash this senior citizen...haha.

Not an answer to your question, but this was a fun interview with him about 10 years ago. What he has to say is still very relevant. Good guy. When he came back to wrestling after being gone 30 years, he was an assistant high school coach.

Josh Rhoden moved to D1 at Oregon State two years ago, however in his time at Clackamas CC he won 5 national titles, 3 runner-up and won five straight national duals in a span of 11 years I believe.

Yeah I wouldn't disagree with that. Depending on the major program, I think you are correct that most have their guys already. He would be a nice addition to a mid-major as you mentioned. Of course we know he will be poached if he has success at UTC or another school.

A true freshman, 4-3 against qualifiers, with a redshirt available and 3 years eligibility, is a good pick up for someone.

I only see one portal opening for wrestling. They also changed it so that grad transfers have to also enter the portal by the date. His choice - Scott could land a HC or assistant job at a D1 school pretty easily - if he doesn't it will be because he is making that choice, not because he has been banished.

In a few recent articles and a recent interview with Coach Pendleton on Flo, the Pac-12 will get an automatic allocation waiver for the next season and most likely a second season as well. The champions will automatically qualify and all others go into the at-large pool. Thankfully OSU is wrestling a very good and tough schedule next season to get in a better position for at-large births. Coach Pendleton mentioned that OSU had the opportunity to go to the Big 12 (although he says Pac 12 by accident) but decided to stay and use the two years to build the conference into 8 -10 teams to establish a West coast conference. He also mentions that there are teams that are interested in joining them. As I (and others) have said for a long time - the Pac-12 should be a conference filled with the Western teams. Haha....it really doesn't really mean much to your argument. He did his damage for 3 1/2 years and they protected him. Their job is done and completed. Now they have to abandon him and put the pressure on for him to drop out because they know if he doesn't he will lose the election.
