  1. Sure if you want to go by placements..... I wouldn't say he looked better the other two years though. His 6th place. year he lost to Lee and Seabass by 1 point each at the NCAA. Tough weight.
  2. 2023 was definitely his best year....but his 2nd best year is a toss up.
  3. Earlier you said there would be a huge hole at two of 174, 184, and 197 if Larkin went 149.... why do you need Bearclaw? Teemer, McLane and Ruiz are more thafine at 157-165- 174.
  4. He would be very small for 197, but he might be the best option. We have seen other guys jump weights like that. He won't beat Ruiz out at 174 and as noted, a transfer coming in at 184.
  5. 100% .... I am in the minority that sees Carroll as a hwt and Merrill as a 197.
  6. If it's accompanied with a pepper eating challenge, it's probably legit.
  7. Just to be clear, Carroll is also a grown a$$ man.
  8. Yeah...they are set with. young options there with Carroll and Merrill.... I am pretty sure that DT is smarter than that.
  9. As a side note...that is only half crazy.....I wouldn't be surprised to see law suits come out of the winter sports group to ensure a second portal window so that all three groups have two.
  10. True.... but once you do start for two years and you are getting closer to the podium, sitting for a year doesn't seem like a good option....but at this point it doesn't seem like there are any many options due to the timing. And that's all to say he would be able to beat out Merrill or Carroll.
  11. Who was bumping to 197? There is a hole there regardless of 149-184 -McLane probably gets squeezed out.
  12. well played
  13. Pretty sure they will recruit over him again if they have the chance.
  14. So you are saying that he should be satisfied with his career and be content to be a backup? It's about that he will not get to start for a team and get the opportunity to get on the podium because he cannot transfer due to the timing. Some guys who have been starting and want to get on the podium, are not satisfied with sitting the bench.
  15. John Smith.... Joe Smith....
  16. Yep... 24/7 open portal....NIL guaranteed.... No eligibility requirements for "student" athletes.... As I have said, they will wrestle two periods for one team, transfer to the opposing school between the 2nd and 3rd, and then defeat themselves in overtime.
  17. Larkin will plug right in at 149. Not much of a drop off.
  18. Sure - you can lose your spot at anytime....but that's not the point. The point is that when they come in after the window closes to enter the portal, they have no options.
  19. Probably the most prolific...but I am guessing it has happened to several who were penciled in and the team brought someone in after the window closed.
  20. Absolutely - Allirez staying is a win for the little guy and for all of college wrestling.
  21. Man...pretty tough for guys who stayed, then transfers come in and take their spot and they are stuck with no way to transfer or compete anywhere.
  22. I think it's 30 days ... and I think it is over now.
  23. I think you might be correct- the fall 15 day portal might only be for spring sports.
  24. Since he already redshirted, I think he probably wants to start somewhere.
  25. Yep...... window closed. That's why I hate this timeline .... lots of guys get put in bad positions. I am not sure when the portal opens again but it will be Fall/Winter. If I understand the new rules correctly, he could transfer anyway, enroll, then hit the portal when it opens to be immediately eligible to actually compete attached. NIL deal should be in place no matter what since it's not the school handing it out. He could also go in the portal Fall/Winter then officially transfer at the semester. He may have to compete unattached at opens in the beginning.
