  1. One of the greatest matches of all-time... has to be a 31 year old infected wound that never quite heals for Abas.
  2. School collectives is a pool of fundraising from a wide group of people/businesses that is still independent of the school. Coaches can give input and work with the collective, like you said to pinpoint needs. However, coaches and AD's can't negotiate any deals. There seems to always have to be a middleman to break up the direct involvment. This might be where decreased NIL came from involving DT - in the collective payouts. There are also the wealthy boosters that directly fund an NIL.... for example, a guy named Bob really wants a guy to come to his school, he can directly go to that wrestler and offer 500k ....then, also for example, the coach can say, I don't have anything to do with that, he is free to do as he wants.... but we all know that there were discussion behind the scenes of who is going to be offered that 500k. It won't be long before coaches can also be the negotiators of all of this anyway. Look how far this has come in a short time.
  3. Are there some handshake agreements? Probably. Under the table money? Probably. But, I am pretty sure if an athlete wants to be paid 100k for the their NIL they agreed to, that they want that in writing. I sign a contract every year for my job and the company I work for creates it and I look it over and sign it. If you are paying for the services, and that is what it is, paying to use someones Name Image and Likeness, you also want to be protected legally. As the payer, you want to be protected as to not being sued for using someone's NIL without permission....hence NCAA football video games. Do all contracts look the same? I am guessing they don't since there are differing arrangements of what you are getting paid for. Do some contracts expect nothing? Probably. At the end of the day, when you start getting up there in serious money, probably should have a lawyer and a contract. If you don't you end up like that QB in an 13.85 million lawsuit over an "agreement"
  4. Yep... the only "legal" way I see that happening is that DT talks to the 3rd party about re-negotiating the NIL contract in order to free-up some money for someone else. In that case DT can't be involved in that re-negotiation and both the athlete and the 3rd party would have to agree to a new contract. What could have happened here is that Hendrickson may have had a verbal deal in place for NIL prior to Taylor getting the job on May 6th. Taylor is announced and then Amine wants to come in as well so they have to renegotiate the agreed NIL to bring another guy in. Hendrickson agrees to renegotiate, gets announced May 19th and Amine May 23rd. In this case a contract is never signed.
  5. How does a coach reduce an NIL amount that is a legal contract between the athlete and a 3rd party that the coach cannot be involved in?
  6. Add 2024 guy Merrill to that mix as well... someone is probably heading out in the next couple years.
  7. There was definitely more talk of him bumping up to 149 than ever going down to 133. He will have to learn to use that length at 133 to his advantage.
  8. It's going to take me a while to get used to the names in the OSUe lineup.
  9. Wow - this is surprising.... it's been a very long time since he has been at 133. He was an average 141 and a little all on the tall side - 8 lbs will be a tough cut. Cleveland is a good kid - always enjoyed him at OSUW - I hope he does well there.
  10. I agree - the kid is tough and keeps getting better. He was flying a little under the radar two years ago but jumped a couple levels from his 8th/9th grade year.
  11. Mauger is an Idaho kid - I hope he does well. Good kid and a good family.
  12. That's a tough class right there. I was hoping OSUW would land Vega, but it's hard to pass up a Cornell education.
  13. No transfers.... just HS recruiting... how is your class looking? Obviously kids could still flip if they aren't signed and not all the kids are committed yet. I am pretty happy with what Oregon State has been doing. The 2025 class is shaping up pretty well IMO. Khale McDonnell - CA - State placer - currently ranked #3 in CA at 215 Koy Davidson - Iowa - Knocked off 3x defending champ #10 Carter Freeman to win a state title last year. Manuel Saldate - #17 - 3x NV state champ, Fargo AA, Slam Academy kid with Chase Pami I believe Jeff Lopez - CA state runner up - knocked off Cortez in the semis last season. Took a break from wrestling for a couple years and came back with a bang. He has been ranked previously. Adrien Reyes - #11 CA 2x state placer, Fargo champ, #11 at 175 Not a 2025 guy, but we added a very late 2024 in Moses Mirabal - CA state champ who was originally committed to Brown.
  14. I don't see one in the stands...
  15. I think you meant NinjaCheese9
  16. Case closed.... for this week.
  17. Wrestlestat shows the medical year, but not the Olympic year. If he got both then he has 3 years left.... but 2021 was the free year, so wouldn't he get yet another year?
  18. Good points - Remember when the would start guys in on a double leg? haha.
  19. It's not so bad....I rented a car from Hertz, added new Linens to the bedroom, filled out a FAFSA without being in school and created the classroom of my dreams.
  20. What's even more boring is watching 4 minutes of dry humping on the mat....but if that's what you prefer and think it's more exciting then being back on the feet, then you are entitled to your opinion. #growthesport.
  21. Minimum is 12,500 for players with 2 or less seasons. It can be more if the team wants to do it - but that's the standard. https://www.si.com/nfl/what-is-the-nfl-practice-squad-salary
  22. I am sure Gable has a pretty nice bank account right now. For the record, he will make somewhere between 12-20k per week on a practice squad depending. If he stayed on a practice squad for the entire season he would be in the 200k-300k range most likely. He would make a lot more than that in NIL by wrestling....but he would also have to give up on trying to make an NFL team. Stephen Neal started as a practice team player as well, but the next year he got his first start. If he decides he wants to give the NFL a legit shot, he will need to bulk up quite a bit and he will need to commit to 2-3 years of learning on a practice squad.
