  1. So you are saying that he should be satisfied with his career and be content to be a backup? It's about that he will not get to start for a team and get the opportunity to get on the podium because he cannot transfer due to the timing. Some guys who have been starting and want to get on the podium, are not satisfied with sitting the bench.
  2. John Smith.... Joe Smith....
  3. Yep... 24/7 open portal....NIL guaranteed.... No eligibility requirements for "student" athletes.... As I have said, they will wrestle two periods for one team, transfer to the opposing school between the 2nd and 3rd, and then defeat themselves in overtime.
  4. Larkin will plug right in at 149. Not much of a drop off.
  5. Sure - you can lose your spot at anytime....but that's not the point. The point is that when they come in after the window closes to enter the portal, they have no options.
  6. Probably the most prolific...but I am guessing it has happened to several who were penciled in and the team brought someone in after the window closed.
  7. Absolutely - Allirez staying is a win for the little guy and for all of college wrestling.
  8. Man...pretty tough for guys who stayed, then transfers come in and take their spot and they are stuck with no way to transfer or compete anywhere.
  9. I think it's 30 days ... and I think it is over now.
  10. I think you might be correct- the fall 15 day portal might only be for spring sports.
  11. Since he already redshirted, I think he probably wants to start somewhere.
  12. Yep...... window closed. That's why I hate this timeline .... lots of guys get put in bad positions. I am not sure when the portal opens again but it will be Fall/Winter. If I understand the new rules correctly, he could transfer anyway, enroll, then hit the portal when it opens to be immediately eligible to actually compete attached. NIL deal should be in place no matter what since it's not the school handing it out. He could also go in the portal Fall/Winter then officially transfer at the semester. He may have to compete unattached at opens in the beginning.
  13. Doucet in a bad positon.....
  14. They have to have some sort of plan there for bringing all these guys in and Schwartz coming back. Don't they still have Lorenzo on the roster as well? He was a 2x NQ at Poly.
  15. I don’t see Belton making 133. If anything I could see him going up to 149.
  16. Agree….DT is obviously the new eye candy with bank but Michigan would be the best training for him with 3 guys to roll with and get coaching from. If he ends up at ok state I can’t help but think it was an NIL offer that blew him away.
  17. Ceremony would be most appropriate
  18. The rule changed this year (as someone else educated me on) and they had to be in the portal by the same cut-off date as everyone else. However, it only takes someone to sue to change it. If we know anything about the NCAA, in less than a year it should be total anarchy with anyone being able to play any sport, any time, any where, as long as they shall live. https://www.on3.com/news/new-ncaa-transfer-portal-legislation-brings-updated-rules-for-grad-transfers/
  19. He's still at ASU... After weighing in at 143 a few weeks ago, I think Larkin's ideal weight might be 149. It still fills out the lineup if he goes 149 - Teemer 157 - McLane 165 - Ruiz 174 - Valencia 184. The danger for ASU is losing Manville to Ok State.
  20. SInce @Thumper @NearFall @bronco is a coward and blocks me along with a lot of people who disagree with him, I will go ahead and tell you the truth.... Belton is in the portal, but not sure if he will continue wrestling, stay at OSU or actually transfer. I know exacly what happened, since I was mat side. At the 2023 Pac-12 championship you might remember that ASU put Yas in at the last minute to wrestle. In the championship, Belton pinned him in OT. Belton stood over him at the end. Probably not the best move. They got into it there and had to be separated. This year, Vaquez returned the favor with some choice words -they got into it and had to be separated. Rivalry....tempers.... competitors.... no backing down...that's what it was. It was a two year confrontation in the making that I am sure Vasquez had circled on his calendar. Not handled the best by either wrestler.... disgraceful? No. As a side note, OSU is not SOL at 141. Singleton was bumped up all year from being the #2 guy at 141. He got some ranked wins and was ranked in the top 30 most of the season. OSU will be fine at 141.
  21. So basically a series of free vacations to places their kid will never go to. First we will head down to Miami for a nice weekend on the beach and tell the coaches we definitely had a great visit and they are in our top 25 schools we are looking at. Next up we will head to NY.....
  22. Now you are saying the same thing.....
  23. You sure about that? This kinda sounds like it's talking about their own athletes.... "Upon submission of the Notification of Transfer Form (or email to the compliance staff for non-student-athletes), the compliance office at Cornell is required to submit the student-athlete’s information into the NCAA Transfer Portal or send out permission to contact within two business days."
  24. Maybe this goes into one of the 68 threads on DT rather than the portal thread.
