  1. True! I was thinking more recent, but you are correct. I believe Quincey Clark was an AA there... one of only a couple if I remember correctly.
  2. So he could win...or he could lose...as my hot take suggests. I'm right again......
  3. I tend to agree - they will have a lot of expenses just transitioning to the Pac-12 and upping their football and basketball markets.... but, it technically is "unclear." Same with other sports as well...baseball... BSU tried and didnt' even get a season in and CSU doesn't have a program either. I am "guessing" that there will be some talks/negotiations about how to streamline their athletic departments beyond Football and Basketball. They also need two more teams to become a "real conference."
  4. The Pac-12 is starting it's rebuild by adding Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Colorado State. Two of those schools have had wrestling programs, Boise State and Fresno State. It is unclear whether these schools will add wrestling. However, in order to be a viable conference they will need to align with their sports. The six teams will collaborate to target more teams to be added to the conference. On a related wrestling note, the teams in the Pac-12 for wrestling are committed to rebuilding the wrestling conference. There are teams interested. Stay tuned. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41226997/sources-boise-state-four-schools-set-join-pac-12
  5. I think that maybe there is a chance that Starocci could lose, but probably not, however the possibility exists and quite frankly, I 100% believe it could happen if certain circumstances arise and maybe he could lose. Prove me wrong! Is that a hot take?
  6. You must have missed Fargo the last 8 years when a lot of top tier guys don't go anymore.
  7. WIth some big early duals only 7 weeks away, I am 99.9% sure that they will not approve the assessment and have a weight decent plan roll out until all the numbers are met to make that date.
  8. If someone makes a hot take about Amine every day from now until NCAA....there is no way to be wrong.
  9. My understanding was that the assessor can deny the assessment (red x) for several reasons. If there is missing information, such as a body fat test, current weigh in, etc. then you would deny the assessment because it's incomplete information. .You will notice that every wrestler that has a red X has their projected weight class listed. I doubt that every one of those guys is on weight the second week of school.
  10. Are you looking at the Trackwrestling? I dont' think the Red X means they are under that weight.
  11. Today: #1 Cam Amine will not AA this year.
  12. That's a solid lineup... still having a hard time envisioning Brockman down at 184...that's going to be a nightmare cut.
  13. When you're a grad student and a free agent that is completely acceptable. I am surprised that people choose to not know the difference between the situations.
  14. Yep - I thought he should have had that first step out point and he definitely was in on some shots he could have scored from. He's young and getting better... Now to come back for bronze. GO USA.... GO BEAVS.
  15. Yeah he got that elbow to elbow and Bo had no answer. Tough loss there. Hopefully he can reset and get bronze.
  16. Wow.... that was quick.
  17. Good comparison - yeah he has grown a lot - He did wrestle the open at 92kg and then bumped up to 97kg to win this spot. He is a tall kid with a frame for heavyweight. I don't think that is the plan, but his body might say otherwise. He has the 2023 senior level world champ next.
  18. One of the greatest matches of all-time... has to be a 31 year old infected wound that never quite heals for Abas.
  19. School collectives is a pool of fundraising from a wide group of people/businesses that is still independent of the school. Coaches can give input and work with the collective, like you said to pinpoint needs. However, coaches and AD's can't negotiate any deals. There seems to always have to be a middleman to break up the direct involvment. This might be where decreased NIL came from involving DT - in the collective payouts. There are also the wealthy boosters that directly fund an NIL.... for example, a guy named Bob really wants a guy to come to his school, he can directly go to that wrestler and offer 500k ....then, also for example, the coach can say, I don't have anything to do with that, he is free to do as he wants.... but we all know that there were discussion behind the scenes of who is going to be offered that 500k. It won't be long before coaches can also be the negotiators of all of this anyway. Look how far this has come in a short time.
  20. Are there some handshake agreements? Probably. Under the table money? Probably. But, I am pretty sure if an athlete wants to be paid 100k for the their NIL they agreed to, that they want that in writing. I sign a contract every year for my job and the company I work for creates it and I look it over and sign it. If you are paying for the services, and that is what it is, paying to use someones Name Image and Likeness, you also want to be protected legally. As the payer, you want to be protected as to not being sued for using someone's NIL without permission....hence NCAA football video games. Do all contracts look the same? I am guessing they don't since there are differing arrangements of what you are getting paid for. Do some contracts expect nothing? Probably. At the end of the day, when you start getting up there in serious money, probably should have a lawyer and a contract. If you don't you end up like that QB in an 13.85 million lawsuit over an "agreement"
  21. Yep... the only "legal" way I see that happening is that DT talks to the 3rd party about re-negotiating the NIL contract in order to free-up some money for someone else. In that case DT can't be involved in that re-negotiation and both the athlete and the 3rd party would have to agree to a new contract. What could have happened here is that Hendrickson may have had a verbal deal in place for NIL prior to Taylor getting the job on May 6th. Taylor is announced and then Amine wants to come in as well so they have to renegotiate the agreed NIL to bring another guy in. Hendrickson agrees to renegotiate, gets announced May 19th and Amine May 23rd. In this case a contract is never signed.
