  1. Wildcard in the sense of his health and how it affects his wrestling... Of course he's good when he is healthy - he was in good health and put together a great run through the Pac 12 and NCAA.... prior to that he was in bad health and recovering and lost to the OSU backup.
  2. Surprised to see Vasquez gassed - he moved up a weight so it shouldn't be a weight issue. He could still AA, but he is on the outside looking in. He doesn't seemed to have developed as well as I thought he would. Same with Chlebove. He seemed to make jumps last season and has looked a little flat. Schultz just seems like he is done. Ruiz is a nice spark for th team. He has looked pretty decent this season. On top of Larkin, where have Ysaguirre, McClane and Manville been?
  3. Cool... I will have to take a look. Larkin has done a great job at Valiant.
  4. His dad founded and coaches at Valiant Prep in Phoenix. He is not listed as a coach at Artreus, but he is probably involved in some capacity. The coaches are basically the ASU coaches and it's held at ASU. Kaleb wrestles for Artreus along with ASU guys like Figs, Schultz, etc. It would be hard to pry them away from ASU with Larkin's history, Valiant being just down the road, etc. But at the same token, is it the best place to reach their goals? Time will tell.
  5. From ESPN: The NCAA issued a statement Friday saying that "NCAA rules do not prevent a student-athlete from unenrolling from an institution, enrolling at a new institution and competing immediately." If a player can negotiate an NIL at another school, unenroll from school, then enroll at the new school providing NIL, why do we have the portal? Why do we have certain dates athletes have to be in the portal? Other than add/drop dates for classes and being eligible (which can up to a month after the semester begins), sounds like the portal is more of "guidelines" than actual "rules'
  6. Man....some of you lost a lot of money on this bet... Who would have thought that his brothers are getting more attention this season.
  7. That's a legit question.... can they progress and reach their goals at ASU? Chlebove, Vasquez and Schultz all seemed to have taken a step. back. Ruiz has looked good and Figs can be a wild card. Recruiting has been down and it doesn't help that they had a major de-commitment.
  8. UNI has looked very good this season.... ASU continues to struggle...
  9. They offered more than Bob?
  10. That's been his bread and butter this season...relying on length to counter shots... guys will adjust to this. Not much in the sense of scoring, but he does ride pretty hard and can rack up the riding time. He has done this to some pretty good wrestlers this season
  11. The only rankings that will matter will be the coaches final ranking and then what we call seeds... But it's always good to have the annual, I mean semi-annual.... ooops, monthly wrestlestat discussion.
  12. Although this may be true, Surber beat him this season. He may not be starting at OSUe. Last year I argued that he was going to struggle keeping his weight at 197 .... but many argued that because he cut down to 92kg (202.8) that he would be fine. There is not doubt he has not looked good this season and that he is a tweener. We have seen guys be more successful their second year down a weight, so time will tell.
  13. Yeah, he's out. Med year hopefully. From wrestlers grind.....
  14. Yes I get that.... do you see what I am responding to? "Two competition days to be exact" IMO, the fact that he is injured and not been wrestling should bring his ranking down. At the end of the day, it won't matter anyway because he has a lot of important matches and the Big10 ahead of him.
  15. Duals on 1 day...Soldier Salute 2 days.... That used to be 3 before new math.
  16. Pretty common over the years for "journalists" and media to use stuff that is posted on here. If you are an old-timer on here. you know that FLO was grabbing topics and threads off here to put in their podcasts and to write articles a number of years ago.It won't be long where we may need to protect our board from thievery....
  17. With the amount of money Iowa has to recruit guys off rosters, I am certain this is true. I bring unorthodox training methods ....
  18. True.... I guess it's only 11-1
  19. Its' the same delusion on the board every...single...year.... If this happens and this happens, then Iowa has a shot....and they never do.
  20. And the sad part is that even with technology to watch from the comfort of your home, Flo can make it even worse. I feel like there is a video to be made, "If Flo broadcasts were really what was happening in a match." Kind of like, what if Zoom were real life.
  21. Old school! Wonder what that looks like under a black light or a micro scope?
  22. Are they a Penn State fan since 2011? I thank you for showing me this to prove that there is still a little hope left in the world.
  23. It's good to see Iowa homers using Spencer's name finally acknowledging what everyone knew... you must pay big money to recruit wrestlers from other teams in order to have a chance at a title. Good job.
  24. Penn State fans since 2011 have been so blinded by success, that there is no way that their guy could possibly lose. Any close/controversial call should go their direction, because THEY ARE, PENN STATE.
  25. It's all of wrestling "media" trying to break stories first and have inside scoops... creating drama and theories creates clicks.
