  1. There was already whisperings about Williams when DT arrived. The sad part about this is that despite his problems last year, having DT come in with strict policies, he chose to do this again. Hopefully he can get things straightened out and get to another school down the road. We have seen others succeed.
  2. This thread is a half day late - it was reported yesterday and is publicly out there. BTW this post does not hurt the wrestling brand on a wrestling message board....it hurts the brand where it has already been posted to the public.
  3. props @cowcards for explanations.... It's not like the NCAA hasn't been filled with questions, vague policy and flip flopping for the last 5 years.
  4. He is only going to have three sets of college fans anyway.... the team he signs with...the team he transfers to....and the team he grad transfers to. Most people will end up not being his "fan" anyway.
  5. Well one of the guys is 285 and Slack is an undersized 197, so I am not sure it applies to all Amen.... Preach it brother!
  6. Good find! Follow up: can they attend a different institution in the Fall semester and transfer for Spring - or do they also have to be enrolled at the institution in the fall they will be competing for in the Spring? EX. if Buchanan enrolls and attends Oklahoma (but doesn't compete) this Fall, but is in the portal as a grad, can he transfer at Spring to complete at Iowa OR does he have to be at Iowa in the Fall to complete in Spring?
  7. Yes - enter beginning in August (or date the year starts) up to the last day of the Spring window for wrestling. However, it does not make clear if you can actually be eligible. that season. I have heard 2nd semester eligibility, but have never seen it in writing. Just like everything going on with the NCAA the last 5 years, nothing is clear.
  8. I keep asking this question - the rule change is obvious and in writing by the NCAA that there is one portal opening in Spring and now grad transfers also have to go by the same date. Those saying Teemer and Buchanan are being recruited by Iowa say there is a second portal in the Fall for grads, but I have not seen that anywhere. What would be hilarious if that was an Iowa assumption, they spent all this money to recruit them, then find out they can't go in the portal. A fitting ending.
  9. Not being sarcastic, but why would he? University of Tokyo is on par if not better than PSU as far as education. Seems like his training and coaching he and the team have received has been pretty good and proven to be better than the US on this cycle. Not anti-PSU, but not sure what the advantage would be. I am also not familiar with the financial opportunities he has in Japan vs US.
  10. I would argue they are doing a side rub on the nipple....which means you are in. Congratulations!
  11. The Beaver is sniffing the nipple.... we are in.
  12. He could also take advantage of the mascot …Roadrunners….
  13. Hmmm...how do I put this.... I'm not an advocate for Ferrari by any means.... but you have a team that self funds, few scholarships, low attendance and literally hanging on by a thread. Dare I say, could this be a shot in the arm for this program? I mean, it's not like they have major companies pulling their sponsorship if it turns into a circus. Whether you like or not, people are going to tune in to Bakersfield.
  14. Hmmmm....maybe I missed something - I thought he was already in portal-land (not to be mixed up with Portland).
  15. And their spectacular.... But anyway, I am sure it's a little spoof on Bassett and every top school that wants him and an NCAA champ who can't get any interest.
  16. That’s what I thought too. They brought in Anthony Valencia as an assistant but I haven’t heard anything about Wick.
  17. A visit with Cal State Bakersfield.
  18. Yep - sad story of how all that went down....and for a baseball program that never got off the ground. Owens is often given a lot of credit of their success as well.
  19. Could be... if so , then yes, that's a big room for 30 wrestlers.
  20. Waiting for Lenny Zalesky at Humboldt State to release their roster. Should be interesting....
  21. They lost 2x state champ Nakoa Fouret (brother of Kekana at Oregon State) who is now at Clackamas. THey also gained Jake Castagneto who I believe was originally committed to NDSU, Hudson Rogers who was originally an Oregon State commit, Talen Eck who I believe was also committed elsewhere and NJCAA runner up Bridger Ricks from Western Wyoming. Hall has done a good job in a short time of getting a few guys into the room. The next recruiting cycle should be a good one for him. There is some good talent coming up in Utah.
  22. Actually it would be 60 including the women. I am not sure what their practices look like, but if they wanted to run simultaneous practices or have conditioning/strength sessions together this gives a lot of room to do that.
  23. It probably is a loop hole to go to the RTC, however I am not sure how many kids who could be on an official roster somewhere else are going to tread water at an RTC in hopes of being 3rd string at a weight rather than 4th string. Keep in mind we are talking about 120ish kids who were beyond the roster limit for P5 schools last year. Those 120 that are being left are are being left off for a reason...maybe time to go to a mid/low level D1 team or go D2/NAIA?
