  2. Sure it's not a new Jimmy under the same name as the old Jimmy?
  3. Agree.... we may need to add an addendum.
  4. You forgot to mention Iowa. Every transfer conversation on the board has to include PSU, Iowa, OK State and ASU. It's a board rule. It's in section 5 of the handbook.
  5. Pac-12 is currently trying to negotiate a new deal with ESPN and Fox for media rights. They are also discussing a separate deal with CW for games not picked up by ESPN and Fox. The hope is that the new deal will keep Oregon and Washington in the fold. The Pac-12 has shot themselves in the foot so many times they are in a wheelchair. I foresee them becoming the "castaway" conference.
  6. Did Costco forget to put out the samples in 2022-2023?
  7. Good point.... It will be interesting to see how NIL impacts a coach's job the next few years. The direction seems to be that a good marketing/salesman may be have a better program than a coach who knows how to develop talent. I'm wondering if we will see NIL deals for multiple years that are somehow tied to staying at the school... a contract of sorts.
  8. Not necessarily seal the deal so to speak.... but do you really think there aren't conversations going on between the coach and those funding NIL to land transfer portal guys? Edit: I agree it's not part of an official job description or that they broker the deal, but I guarantee you coaches are involved in some way in conversations happening. In that sense, it's become part of the job unfortunately.
  9. Well said.... I wonder if 3rd parties can get an NIL to recruit for NIL?
  10. Landing NIL deals for your wrestlers as part of your job is pretty new to everyone.
  11. In theory.... fans are usually on the complaining side rather than the "constructive criticism" side.
  12. Yet the A's still made a profit last year and COULD have spent more money to field a more competitive team. Remember when @NearFall @Thumper called for Bakersfield to drop their program because it wasn't competitive? How do you expect teams who were barely surviving pre-NIL to survive in post-NIL? Call for their dropping of the program?
  13. The Mets will pay a huge luxury tax on the $270 million they went over. (230 million cap). Part of that luxury tax goes back to the other teams and part of it goes to player benefits. Of course this was all negotiated with a union. This is part of the competitive balance. The A's took in the least amount of revenue last year, but still profited on the bottom line even w/o the revenue sharing. I have no problem with kids transferring... the portal is fine..... the problem is the NIL side... and it has a profound effect on the portal. Scholarship limits were a way to keep a level playing field. They don't matter anymore when you can bring in a guy for 250k which includes all of his schooling. You can have 30 guys on "scholarship" now. Scholarships are now for mid-tier guys. The problem that needs to be dealt with is how to keep a more level playing field with NIL. If this does not happen, we will see mid-low level teams not be able to keep and sustain competitive wrestlers and teams. The end result will not be good for NCAA wrestling. Am I against the portal? No. Am I against kids getting NIL money? No. I am against the free-for-all that is happening with no regulation. It will not be a good end result.
  14. What happened to Jamison this season? I had high hopes for him.
  15. @BobDole I think you may have just accidentally created a reward for "Poster of the Week".... or perhaps a consequence for "Worst Poster of the Week."
  16. Was I wrestling? "End it fast before he finds out how crappy you are."
  17. And just like that, you got your 15 seconds of fame.
  18. Faux Jimmy trolling regular Jimmy.
  19. Does the interview actually say “college” as well. What I have read is that he is wrestling in the us open.
  20. When recruiting, but not when it comes to transferring. Remember when it was almost impossible to transfer?
  21. Not everybody has been begging for it.... Those who have, probably did not foresee how complicated and out of control it would become. Pro sports have free-agency but they also have competitive balance where there are salary caps for all teams, revenue sharing for small market teams, etc. So yes, you can have it both ways, but certainly not the way the NCAA has done it by opening up the flood gates then backing away while watching from the bushes.
  22. It's free agency, however in this case the teams do not have a cap, revenue sharing or a means to keep things semi equitable. Scholarship equity at 9.9 doesn't exist when you do not have to give a scholarship to cover all school costs. If the team you support is a "top" tier team with $$$ you should feel great about it because you can build a very solid lineup from the portal with $$$ . If the team you support is a mid level to lower level team then you should be angry about this, because your best guys will be filling the gaps of the top tier teams.
  23. Define “not many”. Washington has quite a few guys in D1 right now.
  24. He's been listed for quite awhile in Flo and he is in Wrestlestat. He has a younger brother Lars as well.
