  1. BTN+ is offering a pay per view option for the Iowa - Iowa State dual. $9.99 to watch the match. See link below. https://www.bigtenplus.com/en-int/livestream/iowa-st-vs-iowa-iowa-corn-cy-hawk-series/1836164?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2Y1osJsiE-YNmH4YVHMIE1Ags6Z3X4fC0qKulQLVDcAYELo-OPo4Nw_KQ_aem_QcalXQq2cWvK8d-uG5Xv9Q
  2. I agree that 165 would be the most likely upset. They wrestled twice last year and both matches went to OT with Caliendo winning both. I would expect Caliendo to win those one again but the margin is very thin. This match will be second semester in CHA so that should be factored in. We will know a lot more about the cut for Block, Hughes and Jamison as the season goes on. Last season the second semester was very rough on Jamison and he was just not the same guy. Will we see the younger wrestlers make leaps as the season progresses? Each team has some younger wrestlers that could continue to improve. For Iowa; Kale Peterson, Ryder Block, Gabe Arnold, Ben Kueter. For OKState; Troy Sprately, Cael Hughes, Tagen Jamison. Will any of the true freshman come into play? Angelo Ferrari and Cody Merrill come to mind. It will be a tight dual.
  3. MM's 8-5 win over Bear Claw was his closest match last year outside of his loss to Carr and close win over Hamiti (who is up at 174). It does not appear that MM has ever wrestled against Julian Ramirez or Peyton Hall. Both of these guys are capable of giving fits to the best of the best (KOT and Carr). Bear Claw's familiarity with MM likely keeps the match closer than the usual MM match and if you are close at the end, you have a fighters chance.
  4. I kept on hearing how Sprately has jumped level over the summer. Either everyone else has also jumped levels or Sprately appears to be pretty much the same guy he was last year.
  5. They will be favored in 5 out of 10 weight classes by my count. 125, 141, 174, 184, 285.
  6. Is he competing for them? I have not seen him in any of their early season results.
  7. Is he wrestling for Princeton this year? He was a big recruit coming out of high school.
  8. I would guess that Carter is just referring to the fact that he beat two former NCAA champs en route to his title last year.
  9. Is the cut tough for Whiting?
  10. I light of the fact that Sinclair lost to Andy Smith tonight it might be time to pump the breaks on undefeated 4x NCAA Champ.
  11. Good call MNRodent. If not Barr, then he will have to deal with Zach Ryder who is another that I should have remembered.
  12. The people that he would likely have to navigate to make that happen at 184: Rocco Welsh, Bennett Berge, Angelo Ferarri, Gabe Arnold, TJ Stewart, Max McEnelly and probably some others that I am forgetting. Sinclair is really good so maybe he could do it. Some tough young hammers in his weight range though.
  13. Casey injured his knee in practice and is done for the year. Tough break for him and the cyclones. https://cyclones.com/news/2024/11/14/wrestling-swiderski-to-miss-2024-25-season-due-to-injury.aspx#:~:text=AMES%2C Iowa – Iowa State head, that knee%2C" Dresser said.
  14. The made a mistake and announced something that was going to be announced anyway, prematurely. Whooptie-doo! There are far too many real problems in the world to spend actual energy worry about something like this. Y'all should take this energy down to your local old folks homes/children's hospitals and go visit some people.
  15. Tough pull for Gaitan down to 165 or has Euton just gotten that much better? That is a surprising result to me. Gaitan was R12 at 174 last year.
  16. I would imagine the usual suspect will be on this. Iowa, tOSU, Rutgers all seemingly have plenty of money and a roster need for 197.
  17. Christian is not near as bad as some of these guys make him out to be. Not my favorite, but certainly not the worst.
  18. Should be a very close dual. We have not seen Surtin or Elam wrestle yet this year for Mizzou. I think they will need to have both of those guys go if they want to win this dual. All rankings below are intermat rankings. 125- #12 Noah Surtin or Gage Walker (Mizz) vs #13 Eddie Ventresca (VT) 133- #29 Kade Moore (Mizz) vs #10 Connor McGonagle (VT) 141- #13 Josh Edmond (Mizz) vs #18 Sam Latona (VT) 149- #24 Logan Gioffre (Mizz) vs #1 Caleb Henson (VT) 157- #32 James Conway (Mizz) vs #25 Rafael Hipolito (VT) 165- #14 Cam Steed (Mizz) vs #19 Connor Brady or Mac Church (VT) 174- #1 Keegan O'Toole (Mizz) vs #4 Lennox Wolak (VT) 184- #12 Colton Hawks (Mizz) vs #5 TJ Stewart (VT) 197- #4 Rocky Elam or Aedon Sinclair vs #13 Andy Smith or Sonny Sasso 285- #20 Seth Nitzel (Mizz) vs #15 Jimmy Mullen (VT) Below are my predictions which are just guesses as to who will wrestle with zero inside knowledge. 125- Ventresca dec Surtin (3-0 VT) 133- McGonagle dec Moore (6-0 VT) 141- Edmond dec Latona (6-3 VT) 149- Henson mdec Gioffre (10-3 VT) 157- Hipolito dec Conway (13-3 VT) 165- Steed wbf Church (13-9 VT) 174- O'Toole mdec Wolak (13-13) 184- Stewart dec Hawks (16-13 VT) 197- Elam dec Sasso (16-16) 285- Mullen dec Nitzel (19-16 VT)
  19. I would venture to believe that it did indeed happen if NPR, NBC and CNN are all coming against it, knowing their very liberal bias. It is a absolute shame and should result in firing anyone that issues these edicts.
  20. As a South Dakotan, I can say that John Thune is nothing more than a career politician bought and paid for by corporations. We does not serve the people of SD well. Neither does Mike Rounds for what it's worth.
  21. If I had to guess I would go 125- LL 133- Davis 141- Blaze 149- SVN 157- Duke 165- MM 174- Haines 184- Barr 197- Mirasola 285- Mirasola Ryder will be in the mix at 184. It is possible that Duke and Blaze redshirt but there really is no need with how good they are. If Lilledahl outgrows 125 then I would suspect that Nate Desmond would step in right away and Lilledahl would man 133, pushing Davis to the bench. If Duke redshirts then I would expect Sealy, Kasak and Facundo to battle for the 157 spot. The depth of this team is insane.
  22. That's awesome! Hope he competes well. An incredible comeback story regardless of the results.
  23. Could they? Sure anything can happen. That said; PSU, Iowa, OK State are very likely to place higher than them and top 3. The next tier of teams vying for the 4-5 spots would include; tOSU, Cornell, VT, Iowa State, Nebraska and Mizzou. I would love to see my jackrabbits as well but someone will really have to emerge for us to make that jump. Im not sure Stanford has enough high end placers to push teams like tOSU and Nebraska out of the top 5.
  24. Yep that’s right. Dropped three straight to Noto, Trevor Anderson and McCrone
  25. If I am remembering correctly a similar situation happened for Camacho last year
