  1. Seems REALLY dumb for him to even be making such a threat, unless he WANTS to agitate people and have an excuse to use force. Create a crisis, just like he did in LA. Then take credit for it after it inevitably simmers down.
  2. Wow. Wish I was near there. He doesn't like free speech, huh? Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Um style.
  3. Ai answer: AI Overview +5 Yes, the test scores of special education children are counted in statistics, particularly in reports related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). However, the inclusion of these scores can have a specific impact on overall school proficiency levels, potentially leading to a slight decrease in the overall score.
  4. I would think some of them (maybe not all) are included in avg test score numbers and the costs are also included.
  5. I know you're trying to be funny or something but it affects both the test scores and costs. The most special needs kids typically get transported to the larger urban schools that can meet their needs. Their cost is significantly higher (to put it mildly) than a typical kid. Then these charter schools don't take in any special needs kids whatsoever (rural public take in some mild cases) so they have low costs and higher test scores and that's why they can brag that they're doing much better work for less money. It's all a crock of lies, just like everything else coming from the wingers.
  6. It got WAY worse since Trump sent in thousands of soldiers, unwanted by almost everybody in the state. Who could have guessed that would have happened?
  7. I support freedom and value the principles of the Constitution and Founding Fathers.
  8. Wrong. It's all protected under the 2nd amendment. Let's just go all the way and allow people to own 50 cal machine guns, tanks, missiles and even nuclear weapons. ANYBODY. They gotta be able to protect themselves when an army of 100 soldiers all converge on their home at once.
  9. More "efficient." Wingers have been saying that for decades now. How "efficient" can it possibly get? What specific cuts are you willing to make? Let me guess - Planned Parenthood, DEI and USAID. Between that and "cutting the fact," I suppose you think we'll come close to balanciing the budget?
  10. EVERYBODY needs to pay more in taxes.
  11. Cost of living is much lower in poor rural areas than poor urban areas. Not an apples to apples comparison. The urban schools also typically are forced to deal with more special-needs kids while the smaller town schools aren't, not to the same extent at least.
  12. From AI: The United States has a more expensive healthcare system than Canada. In 2022, U.S. healthcare spending averaged $13,493 per person, while in Canada it was $6,319 per person. This means U.S. healthcare costs are roughly double those in Canada. I do agree that the U.S. system is great for billionaires though. Waits are too long in only extreme cases because they triage who gets the care that is limited, such as organ transplants, etc. Some of that happens here in the U.S. too. I'd gladly risk having my healthcare triaged in an exteme situation for my healthcare costs to be half of what they currently are (health insurance costs from me and my employer and Medicare taxes combined).
  13. Yah; and they can actually get decent care up there at a reasonable cost. Hopefully they don't bring fentanyl with them if they come back. I heard that's a huge problem with Canadians.
  14. They're late teens and early 20s. I want what's best for them. That's for THEM to decide but I'm willing to provide input. I'm good w their decision in the end. I have more keeping me here right now than they do. That's typically the case for younger people in comparison to older people.
  15. How did Gov Evers (here in WI) "break the law?"
  16. I have too much going on here and too many loved ones. However, if I were young and single with no kids, I'd try to get out in a heartbeat. We're on a bad slope right now and sliding fast. I've encouraged all my kids to get out to a place like Canada or Europe if the opportunity is provided.
  17. The fetus can't survive outside the womb before 22 weeks (approx) but that doesn't change the fact that the woman should be allowed to have it removed from her body. Control over your body and the right to not be forced to provide 24/7 life support to another living being are universally recognized rights. The wingers want to make an exception here simply because the fetus can't survive outside the womb before 22 weeks. That's not right though. The woman's fundamental god-given rights still need to be protected.
  18. Personal vendettas need to be set aside. The recent protest violence and differing views on how to handle that shouldn't be part of the decision of whether to fund them for the Olympics. As Wrestling Rasta says, they should probably get the funding if that's normally what cities get. Personally, I'm not automatically in favor of federal funding if only the local areas see the economic benefits but I'm saying that Trump needs to stop trying to use his position to punish people simply because he doesn't like them. Wingers shouldn't support that either. People that support this are acting like little kids.
  19. Protests clearly escalating, as predicted. They'd probably be almost done by now if Trump hadn't sent umwantef troops (and now active duty marines).
  20. LMAO. Good luck getting them to pay that. I'd tell Trumptard where to stick it, so would love to get a bill for that.
  21. If I'm the mother of a person, I can refuse to care for it. Just say I'm leaving it at the hospital. Or tell the proper authorities that you are no longer going to care for it and it will have to be somebody else's responsibility. Do you go to prison for that? Yes, even if the heart is beating. The wingers continue to be entirely inconsistent and arbitrary.
  22. It IS her? Wow. Well, Jimmy says its an individual person with its own DNA. You guys should try to get on the same page. Unreal.
  23. What a dumb analogy. A more parallel one: what would happen to somebody that refused to save a dog that couldn't support itself? NOTHING. NADA. ZILCHE. Same if it was a person.
  24. A lot of people don't understand what DEI is or its benefits. To me, the main benefits (at work) are being able to get participation from and retain talented staff that happen to be in minority groups and make sure they don't feel alienated. Almost everybody I work with, for example, happens to be white, educated and liberal. Make sure that people outside those groups feel comfortable working at my organization. How are you defining "DEI" here?
