  1. I thought you meant develop kids in regards to folk I guess I was not looking at this in the context of greco which I should have been considering hes in the u20 finals.
  2. I would argue Nc state and Northern Iowa but for sure really strong room between the RTC and college team around that weight too.
  3. I think Vega may be the most underrated kid in the 2025 class Im guessing their lineup could feature a TF from 125-149 in 2026 Knox, I. Cortez, E. Cortez, Vega Dejesus is very good and could mix things up at 133 as well. Perentin seems really stock for 174 but hes a stud as well I think 3 of these dudes will be at who's 1.
  4. he is incredible at greco but he lost to Thomas Verrette at junior nats and Thomas is like a 15-25 type guy in the nation I would not expect huge things from him in folk at least not right away.
  5. Don't want to start a new wtt trials thread but I see Andonian and Duke both at 70kg I need that match I think there would be at least 7 throws. Blaze registered at 61kg I think it would be foolish to pick him as the favorite to make the finals against vito over Daton or Nashon but I may be a fool. Hoping Jax enters and Desanto enter as well. KOT,Carr,Ringer,JB at 79kg is fire I may be Picking KOT to win that weight. 92kg feels like Zahid vs trent part a lot unless DT enters.
  6. I fear it could be a few years too late but would still love to see it regardless.
  7. according to flows new rankings not including bonus points if rankings held national scores would be.. PSU: 124 Iowa: 103.5 OK state: 59.5 Nebraska: 57 Ohio state: 49.5 Important thinks to note PSU is getting no points at 125 they removed davis I think Lilledahl goes high on the podium. Iowa is also receiving zero points at 125 but unless Peterson can get down I think that is accurate. Levi is ranked second at 174 I personally think thats going to be facundo in either scenario I think I would have both behind Welsh and Hamiti personally I just think its a big Jump for Levi in one year. They have Carter 1 at 184 and Cochran at 197 at 21 which would get maybe ).5 points? I think they get more points at 197 if Barr goes.
  8. I wonder if you could attribute the transfer "issues" of Penn State more to a change in schedule than anyone else. As of recently they wrestle the black knight and thats about it for tournaments until the post season. They wrestle a very difficult dual schedule but maybe if you are use to having 30+ matches and a couple feels at a two day weigh in + multiple matches it is hard to adjust to purely dual meets, and even at that very few of their guys wrestle in every dual. Im not saying this is a bad thing they peak better than any team has for the past decade but perhaps its difficult for transfers to adapt.
  9. no it was honestly a bit of a jump scare
  10. 57kg: I expect Luke to medal I think he is world level for seniors let alone u20's. In his way I think will be Valizadeh from Iran who was the 2023 senior world rep for iran and grabbed two wins over an unknown and Rzazde from Azerbijan who is tough. He also has a win over Horst Lehr who infamously pinned thomas gilman. There is also the Japan rep who I am sure is good and then Pavlov from Russia who recently won euros but Luke beat him last year 9-2. Prediction: gold but Iran worries me 61kg: I think Marcus Blaze is the best high school wrestler I've ever seen just given the accolades of the guys hes beaten as well as how sound his defense is, that being said this weight is brutal. Jamal Abbasov took second at Euros and beat ben davino 5-0 at cadets last year. The guy he lost to at Euros 6-1 is Andrei Midlovets who teched his way to the finals before beating Abbasov. Ono from Japan was up at 65kg for the senior Asian championships where he took third only falling to tumur ochir. Edik Harutyunyan is also a returning bronze from 57kg last year. Prediction: Gold Blaze is that dude 65kg: I am very interested to see how Bo does here. I think his pace could be a serious issue for the international guys. I am worried that he snaps guys into his legs sometimes and that could prove to put him in a hole he can't dig himself out of. Abdullah toprak doubled up on bronze medals last year at u20's and u23's taking a 3-1 loss to Mendez at u20's. He also managed to score 4 points on Amouzad this year which is 4 more than Zain scored. The Iranian is also a returning Bronze medalist from last year and won the asian championships this year as well as a cadet gold in 2021. Hosokawa from Japan took 5th at the emperors cup. He took bronze at Asians last year and has a win over 2022 u20 champ Jalalov. Prediction: Bronze for Bassett 70KG: Would be a bit surprised if Duke did not win gold I think his only fault is he gets a bit tired but what he did to kannon webster twice was quite insane. Karampour from iran teched his way through asians so hes definitely a stud. Baitukaev did the same through Euros and I think will be his biggest test. He took Bronze last year and lost to Meyer 8-0. It was a match that came down to a few exchanges though but I still think its a match I favor PJ in. Prediction: Gold for Duke 74kg: Similarly to Duke I think Dee should be the favorite at this weight. Yaprak from Turkey is tough he took third and 5th and u20 and u23 euros ironically the third was in u23's. Locketts biggest threat is Reza from Iran who took silver at 70kg last year losing to Meyer 11-6. He teched his way through Asians and took third at the second ranking series beating Bayramov 5-0 and actually going the distance with zhamolov losing 7-0. Prediction: Gold for Lockett I will do the second half in a bit I've grown tired.
  11. Any chance they suck brock man down for 1 year or is he red shirting?
  12. Dylan Gilcher breakout year incoming, beat ty watters at dapper dan although Ty kinda messed up his knee in the first period I am pretty high on him still though.
  13. Iowa could send the biggest FU in the world to the guys that committed there by recruiting gable and letting him wrestle over Keuter who took a year off of football to dedicate to wrestling. Michigan or Minnesota seem like the most likely destinations if he comes back though although I'm not sure if he would need to be a grad transfer to wrestle so maybe Minnesota is out. I hope he continues to wrestle but he seems to be trying to do anything but wrestle so I'm guessing MMA will be his next endeavor.
  14. should we start taking bets on where he shows up second semester?
  15. It was a one score match the last time they wrestled from a 50/50 feet to back situation. Paro is in a new training environment and SVN is coming off his third almost year long layoff since HS. Barr and Facundo both operate from collar ties and like outside step high c's and only seem to let their offense go occasionally.
  16. 125 - Lilledahl over Cruz via Major PSU 4 - 0 133 - Ayala over Nagao via Decision PSU 4-3 141 - Bartlett over Block via Decision PSU 7-3 149 - Parco over SVN Decison (I think Shayne loses a step at least earlier in the year probably gets it back at big10's/nats PSU 7-6 157 - Teemer over Kasak Decison (big 157 vs tiny 157 I could see Kasak shooting himself out of the match and adjusting later) 9-7 Iowas 165 - MM over Caliendo Major (if its rec hall maybe tech) PSU 11-9 174 - Arnold over Facundo Decision (this match is a toss-up it depends if Facundo can generate like he does in free which he has not shown he can) Iowa 12-11 184 - Brands/Smaller Ferrari over Barr (Barr reminds me a lot of Facundo maybe its a Michigan thing just needs to learn to let it go) Iowa 15-11 197 - Starocci over Buchanan via Decision Iowa 15-14 285 - Ben (He's never dedicated this much of his life to wrestling Keuter) over Kerk Iowa 18-14
  17. Bjj starts standing and from there the similarities in a lot of ways end. Of course, being able to dictate where the bout takes place is big and leg riding can be a factor as a body triangle or double boots to flatten someone out can be two of the most dominant positions. In my opinion the only thing that allows for there to be more money in BJJ is the fact that Joe rogan and Jocko are so vocal about it. The Hub of BJJ is actually in Texas and puerto rico now I believe with Craig jones and nick rodriguez's gym in Texas and the danahar death squad in puerto rico (where gordon ryan trains). Michael pixley was a fargo champ and Nicky rod started wrestling but they also started training BJJ exclusively 5-10 years ago.
  18. unless Messenbrink is at trials for 70kg which I believe has been said he wont be he will not be at 157 either Im guessing Levi is at 174 or red shirts 149 will be SVN and 157 Kasak. Lilledahl pushes for a major against Cruz. Caliendo will also be the guy at 165 Pk either sucks down to 157 and wrestles off Teemer or beats gable at 174 or he rides the pine.
  19. Retherford announced as a coach for the NLWC. After everyone leaving recently, I think this was a crucial get for the Nittany Lions.
  20. should have lost to deprez and Aiello :[
  21. Pyles seems to think Levi will be red shirting this year... I think that makes the team race very interesting. He also thinks Barr would be going 197 I personally would be excited because Carter vs Parker is probably the best matchup, we could have next year but I think PSU's best lineup would be Barr 184, Carter 197 or carter 184 and Mirasola 197. Certainly not next topic but given PSU's track record with true freshman I think Mirasola could win that weight.
  22. spend money to keep their recruits and betting on themselves to develop them an uncanny concept.
  23. Jacori has not wrestled freestyle since 2017 and I have no idea the last time Buchannen did I would assume high school. So to me you are paying them to wrestle for a semester I don't foresee either guys being needle movers in freestyle. So I guess I should add a semester and good workout partners. I know they have alumni with A LOT of money but I just cannot imagine spending that kind of money when their biggest recruit from this upcoming class is Leo Deluca (who is very good). Unless their intent is to just buy proven commodities who are already In college moving forward I think those funds would be better allocated to ensuring they get these big high school recruits if they can truly afford to potentially pay 3 guys 1.5 million who in my opinion I could very well be wrong will never get close to making a national team out of school. I guess ultimately I may be underestimating the funding in wrestling and specifically at Iowas I just think its a foolish investment, it does put them in the national title hunt if some things swing their way though so perhaps it will prove to be fruitful.
  24. The rumor was 500k for Buchannen and Teemer but I have to think that number is BS for a semester, that is all I have heard though.
  25. he usually has a pick he goes to both near and far leg but I think between that kids size and him dropping down so often he just could not get it going. Definitely would have liked to see him put a few more attempts together rather than going one at a time. Hes kinda made a name for himself by chasing guys down late just did not work here.
