  1. satiev won the cycle after cael won his and I would take cael against most people at his age now. I guess I just think the sport evolved a lot in the 90's and early 2000's from where it was in the 60's and 70's. It's also hard to find film on those guys which probably taints my perspective a bit. Ultimately, I'm aware of two losses Satiev took in 13-14 years at the most competitive weight there is overall. I think both he and JB hold a special place to me for always having a target on their back and being able to adapt for over a decade to stay on top. The difference to me is Satiev never had to shift weights to continue winning.
  2. I am terribly bias in regard to sports evolving over time, so I tend to discredit much older athletes mentally. In terms of accomplishments, he is certainly the best.
  3. Ive always been biased towards longevity rather than peak so to me he is already the american goat. I think Satiev is the GOAT of the sport and will still be even if Jordan wins another gold.
  4. I think its more of Carter is just better at this point and time. Barr does not have a ton of offense at this point and time I would pick him to AA but have no confidence he 100% beats guys like Little,Cardenas,Elam,Beard let alone Ferrari or Buchannen. Carter would still be the pick to win the weight. There is also the chance PK beats carter and you come away with a second place and then potentially a blood round finish with Barr. Worst case if you flip flop in my opinion is like 7th for Barr at 184 (I think this is worst case) and carter second at 197 (also worst case barring something catastrophic).
  5. I personally chalk up a bit of DT's OTT's performance to not being in it mentally but more so I think 86kg may just not be his optimal weight anymore at his age. Ghasempour is a 92kg guy but only because he could not be Yaz I do not expect a big size discrepancy there. What will be interesting is how Sadulaev looks at 92kg. For Taylor to beat him I think its going to need to be a match where he is very offensive and is ok going down early to give himself a chance to run down sadulaev late. In his Russian nationals finals match sadulaev looked tired and very little wrestling occurred. Its probably blind optimism but Im going DT: Gold Sadulaev: silver Ghasmepour: Bronze what will add a bit of a wrinkle to all of this is if Atimukhan comes down. This kid jumped levels like I have never seen in a few months last year when he won senior worlds. at the ranking series in July he lost to finesilver 8-2 and Zahid 10-0. Two months later and he pretty much blitzed the field at senior worlds. He lost to Taz this year 4-2 and has wrestled the entire year up at 97kg including where he won the u20 title (shoutout Radamacher for being the only guy to not get teched by him). Im not even sure if we see him down at 92kg here but I think his rate of improvement coupled with a few guys that are getting long in the tooth makes him someone to talk about if nothing else.
  6. believe its missing AB as well
  7. I think he will grow into 133 at some point but fair point since 2010 I think Mcdonough,Delgado,Spencer are the only guys to win 2 or more.
  8. I think Lilledahl is pretty far and away the front runner. Kannon webster is coming off a RS at 149 I don't see him winning it this year, but he is probably the most notable RS freshman I can think of. If Zack Ryder somehow ends up as the guy at 174 for PSU I think he deserves a mention. I do not see him beating Keegan, but crazier things have probably happened.
  9. Transitive property + wrestling math + not accounting for guys getting better. When Ramos was up at 133 he lost to Cannon 1-0. Cannon the following year beat Crookham 3-1. Blaze beat Ramos 4-1 in OT. Thus Blaze clears and I am filled with 100% confidence in this evaluation.
  10. Seth Mendoza, Dom bambinelli, Kollin rath all went undefeated at elite 8 duals which is probably the toughest dual tournament in the country. Bambinelli notably beat Asher Cunningham 11-3 who was a pa state champ and ironman third last year. He also beat Perentin in the powerade finals Perentin got that one back against Cunningham here. Bambinelli only had one decision, and it was 6-1 over Ben smith. Kollin rath also went 7-0 including an 11-0 win over Brogan tucker who beat Vince bouzakis in this tournament. Seth Mendozas weight was not the toughest, but he racked up 5 techs a 10-6 win over moses mendoza and a 7-4 overtime win against Jake hockaday who places high everywehere. Add these 3 in with Sinclair and Gage walker from the 2024 class and I think things are looking very bright for the Tigers.
  11. Duke's strength is senior level already I think his development hinges a lot upon if that continues to develop (I assume it will he's 18) he has Dake level man strength and more of an offensive arsenal. Jax needs to develop a go to leg attack that's not a dump otherwise hes very satiev esque and I think the sky is the limit for him. Blaze could probably medal at senior worlds right now hes going back down to 57kg for u23's I think as he physically matures his offense will open up hes about as sure of a bet as I think we have. I think Bo could see some bumps in the road as he runs into more guys that can match his pace and physicality compared to the other guys I just don't think the ashnault win holds up quite the same because we have no idea what ashnaults training situation was like. ranking them I would go Blaze Lilledahl (did not talk about him but 4 age level finals Jax Duke Bo Im also still very high on Anthony Knox and as for college guys Messenbrink and Mendez are only getting better and are already super super elite as well.
  12. only thing I can think of is maybe national team duals but Im not sure that Mizzou is going.
  13. I worry about Facundo at 157. He will definitely be huge, but his output is pretty low as is maybe his collar tie stuff will be even more effective with the strength and size difference, but I could also see his output just being nonexistent and him fading later in matches. Much respect for getting down for the team though.
  14. Dynasties tend to attract very casual fan bases I'm afraid. Living in central PA and having been at the trials I can attest that at least the people around me were not very informed compared to a normal wrestling fan. And there are a lot of people that cult follow psu sports that do not care about wrestling just that psu is good at it. I think that part of the fanbase sucks and unfortunately represents a large part of it.
  15. his losses at the senior level since 2018 (he was 20). Thomas gillman (world champ), Vito (world champ), Abasghadzi (world champ), Takahashi (world champ), Gross (finished top 5 at worlds), Blaze (could very well be top 5 in the world) and a man from China I don't know his accolades. Fix is still a top 10 guy at 61kg in the world we would have absolutely no depth if every guy stopped wrestling because they have top of the world guys at their weight. Blaze is going to grow into a 65kg and Vito has injury issues if you told me fix was our rep in any of 2025,2026,2027 I would not be surprised.
  16. He looked the best I have seen him in some time until the Blaze match.. Perhaps Blaze is just that good. He has a better training situation now than he has ever had and is probably making good money from the cowboy RTC with their newfound money man. If he loves, it still and is making good enough money, why would he hang it up.
  17. Keegan could not sit the corner on levi because levi was able to elevate him. Thats a position where Keegan sort of dominated Carr. Carr wrestled Levi primarily from space which hes able to do because hes so fast and slick. I dont know that Keegan can do that and effectively get to levis legs. I thought the match was not super competitive in favor of Keegan before this but now Im leaning levi I do not think folk makes a ton of difference. Keegan does make adjustments as well as anyone so I would say that is the x factor but as of now I have it 55:45 levi.
  18. Not at all, it is the only fanbase I've seen actively boo and cheer against the greatest athlete in our sport however I was more so replying to your remark about a few looney tunes implying he was overreacting to a few outliers when it was a large part of a very full arena.
  19. he got boo'd out of the arena the one heckler was the worst obviously, but it takes more than a few people to deafen an arena with boo's.
  20. they don't break position, seem to have very very explosive athlete's and transition from takedown to turn better than anyone in the world. Pretty good recipe for success. It's unfortunate that nishuichi and Ono will probably be the same weight for their careers, because I think they are the two best young guys in the world aside from Blaze right now.
  21. Grounding is the only thing that needs to get ironed out. About as frequently do I see the better guy get laced to a tech at a high level as I see someone get caught and stuck in folk. I think with grounding an easy fix would be first time is an attention second is caution and 1 although I personally think grounding is a big part of the style and it's kind of interesting to watch guys who have mastered it, but I know it can be annoying to watch.
  22. certainly not hopeless Vito should be the on paper favorite but ill take Ono.
  23. In terms of partners in the room I think Cornell, PSU, Ohio State make the most sense. the guys you mentioned at Cornell Nick lee, Zain, BB at PSU, Jesse and Davino at Ohio State. Okie state has Fix,Gillman,Roman but I think blaze grows into a 65kg 141/149 in college and at his current level I don't know that those guys give him super competitive rolls in a year or two just by the nature of his improvement and them being smaller. I'm personally pulling for anyone but PSU because if they get him Luke and PJ there is no team race for another 4-5 years again and team races are fun.
  24. Feel good about everyone on our mens team bringing home a medal. If Ghasempour and Sadulaev go at 92 that will obviously be a brutal field but I think DT looked great. Blaze is obviously the main talking point for guys that did not win but I was also super impressed with Duke and Forrest as usual. Levi also looked really really good that shot he pulled in on Keegan was insane. Guys that were a bit disappointing for me were Keegan and Mirasola. Keegan probably should have teched Carr that rear standing stalemate was insane but from there he did not score another point in the tournament. I thought Mirasola was really going to push to be a top 5ish guy here and he just was not. would have liked to see Cardenas go through the entire backside he killed everyone outside of the Jacques match.
  25. Because its easier than saying their fanbase was classless at OTT's
