Realistic? Lilledahl Misslebrank Haines Mirasola Welsh Might (probably) forgot someone. U23 is always a domestic and international crapshoot... some years Hendrickson is the man, other years Richie Lewis is the world champ. ETA: Lilledahl will probably get better domestic and international competition at juniors

With all of this talk about to gap from 197-285

This provides more evidence to my argument: if you build it, they will come. If you do not provide opportunities for high school guys to either 1) Cut drastically 2) Provide a next-weight growth outlet that is not in respective line to a 125 moving up to 133 or even 184 to 197 3) Go on a hardcore bulk job and permanently change their body in an undesirable way. Not everyone wants to be 245+ Then the numbers will never be there at the college level. The titty boy dancing bears in college are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. They exist the same as itty bitty guys who are career 125s by default - they can fill a roster hole but we all know they aren't doing anything. -
Seeing Caliendo/Iowa as the face of the tourney with an OkSt guy hanging his head in defeat was not the image I expected

Carl: "You got a plan or something?" Magic Man: "Yes, it's a very popular plan with buy-in from fans, coaches, and wrestlers. Your program is invited as the guest of honor." Carl: "I don't like your plan that's stupid."

What?! No way. They have been the best thing since wrestling was invented in 2011. Stay classy Sandusky U.

Spencer Lee could have wrestled at Buffalo University and still been in the olympic finals. He's that dude.

100% facts

The Raney boys have world aspirations. Illinois put multiple people on senior world teams last quad in both styles. Iowa had zero the entire quad until Spencer Lee saved the squakeyes from a quad shut-out and I think we all agree he would have had a much different career arc if he went literally anywhere else. Cherry on top: Illinois' 133 beat Iowa's 133 twice last year, including in the NCAA finals. I know where I would pick...

Considering he didn't become a coach until the conclusion of the most recent olympic games...

Two years with Taylor and Hendrickson will go a heck of a lot farther than 5 years in the Iowa room. With Brandvold (and to a lesser extent Gable) gone from Minny, I don't understand why every blue chip big in the country isn't lining up to waive any and all NIL deals for the chance to be in Stillwater or State College. They are where olympic dreams will be made.

Best to ever beat you (more post-NCAA banter)

I give the "best" title to the only person with a world championship to their name. When I was in high school, I went to an offseason practice at Eastern Illinois University when they still had a program. There was a 2x AA alum that was back working with some of the college guys and I got an invite to come to the room for some workouts. So anyways this dude doesn't really focus on wrestling anymore and I've got a solid 30-40 pounds on him but he just absolutely beats the crap out of me. And then, because I was a moron in high school, I said or did something that I thought was innocent but apparently lit a fire under his ass because we went on feet again and he took a short swing that literally knocked me out for a hot minute. So anyways, I get to tell my kids that the coolest thing that ever happened to me is that I got my ass kicked by Matt Hughes and I learned a valuable life lesson that day that you should absolutely never run your mouth and the only time you ever can get away with it is on an anonymous internet forum... if you're lucky. -

Counterpoint: it's still really early in the year so you might as well hit that deductible and out-of-pocket so you can get all the bonus procedures you've been putting off for years

Would be something if he grows his coaching skills up and takes over Wiscy in a few years

I said his ceiling is a mix of one of, at worst, the three best assistants in the country at any level mixed with B1G head coach with multiple AAs and the occasional finalist appearance. What about that says "Gilman can't coach" His floor is his floor. Still better than most. Gilman marches to the beat of his own drum and no one else's so don't be slighted.

Don't forget the dodgeball cardio

Great competitor, not sure coaching is in his future and certainly not while he is still competing. Ceiling: Mix between Terry and Bono Floor: Chertow-like nomad

What are YOU doing with your 401(k) right now?

A threshold exists where exits migrate from dictated to negotiated. -
Ramos recruited + coached a 2x NCAA champ/ 5x AA and has had at least one AA ever year since joining in a state historically lacking wrestling resources and a school that had long become an afterthought. I will take that "cringe" every day of the week and twice on Sunday. So save the strays for someone else.

Let me try to clarify my scenario: I am a senior leader that can either move up or move out depending on the political winds that month. I would rather max immediately and lock into the match than risk chipping a little every two weeks. For me, it is risking leaving free retirement money on the table so yes it is long vs short. I am fortunate to have the ability to max out my contributions early when many people are doing their best to pay for braces and save enough for nice clothes for their kids and I do not lose sight of that. Ever.
