  1. I’m ok with this one.
  2. All these years? Bob never aided TheMat …
  3. Kerk was enrolled. Thus, transferred.
  4. Yes, forum users over the last two decades have their own collective Mandela effect in place. That sounds logical. I'm 100% unbiased here.
  5. Bob won the bet.
  6. Toughness isn’t always about fighting… in my first season working college hockey, I saw all sorts of toughness … and that’s where they have to wear full cages and there isn’t fighting. They’re basically wrestlers wearing skates and carrying weapons.
  7. Hockey players are so much tougher than soccer players.
  8. Infringing on Ross’ gimmick.
  9. You had every idea this would be the path this thread would take. C’mon …
  10. I also live in Minnesota, but about an hour north of where O’Reilly is from.
  11. It’s amazing that I followed much of the dairy farming discussion with great interest and understood the argument - my wife is the daughter of dairy farmers … so yeah, add another wrestling family to the dairy farming subgroup. And we border Canada … to get this tied to the topic.
  12. Beef short ribs. They aren’t as dry than they look. This was the first cut. Taste was good but I would have preferred to get them on 8 hours, but can’t really justify doing the smoker that long for basically one plate of food.
  13. Got some Holy Cow on my beef spare ribs I just dropped on. Will smoke at 180 for 3 hours, then bring up the temp in a bit. will play that by ear when i check the temps. These three big ribs aren’t a uniform size, so I expect the smaller one to be a bit more done.
  14. What specific help from the Touhys are you referencing? Or are you broadly talking their presence here. I’m not disputing they had a role in some things, but their influence as depicted in the film is a ways from reality, like a lot of “based on a true story” and “inspired by true events” stories. And yes, he’d have found his way to a D1 program eventually.
  15. He’d have played D1 ball regardless.
  16. Read the story.
  17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Oher?wprov=sfti1 Wikipedia’s description of the events - source linked here: https://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/24/magazine/24football.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
  18. Oher was already enrolled at the private school and an all-state football player before he moved in with Tuohys. His HS coach was Hugh Freeze before Freeze was hired at Ole Miss. I suspect if they did nothing, we wouldn’t have a movie featuring them so prominently but I believe the probability of him playing in college and the NFL about the same.
  19. … and is the third person involved in the 1984 controversy with the Olympic team who often doesn’t get mentioned. I met him for the first time a few years ago down in Texas … where he was WITH Randy Lewis.
  20. Yes. it on the UWW schedule each day.
  21. Hadn’t heard that one before …
  22. I didn’t say talented people and future coaches weren’t part of those programs but Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee saw more success when they were competing in the various qualifying regionals than in the SEC, where the qualifier system at the time was limiting. The point to bring up here is how every program, no matter how big or how strong, can provide quality and dedicated mentors and coaches for the next generation of wrestlers.
  23. Alabama wasn't good. Never ranked. Never an All-American. Never finished higher than 37th at the NCAA championships. Auburn was showing promise when it was dropped in 1981. They finished 9th in 1981 with three All-Americans, including Clar Anderson who won an NCAA title two years later at Oklahoma State. Auburn was ranked in the Top 25 only three times in its history, those last two seasons. Historically, they weren't good. They had two good seasons at the end.
  24. I hate Twinkies … but I hear the word almost daily. We also don’t have them in the house.
  25. It would actually make the EIWA 18 teams …
