  1. OP asked about military veterans who won NCAA titles. He didn't specify that they had to be enlisted before winning the title.
  2. Matt Brown, Penn State + Army
  3. Surprised no one has said Dean Heil or Jesse Delgado yet...
  4. As a Penn State fan, I think it has to be Kyle Dake - although hate is not really the right word. We certainly respect him and now he's a member of NLWC. But he always beat our golden boy DT and it was frustrating to see someone so good fail time and time again to beat Dake (except in fantasy matches). For Iowa is it Bo Nickal? Never lost to an Iowa guy and embarrassed many (pinned Sammy Brooks multiple times, including once via an almost pornographic spladle at Carver-Hawkeye).
  5. According to this 24/7 scouting report Keuter's NFL comparison is Leighton Vander Esch. https://247sports.com/Player/Ben-Kueter-46118691/ The Cowboys drafted Vander Esch in the 1st round, pick 19. His rookie deal was for 4 years, $11.84 million, fully guaranteed. He then signed another 2 year deal worth $8 million ($5 million guaranteed). So if the comparison is accurate and he has a career like Vander Esch (who has had injury problems which is why his extension is "only" for $8 million) he's still looking at about $15 million guaranteed. I'm guessing that would be about $14.5 million more than he would make lifetime if he stuck to collegiate/freestyle wrestling.
  6. I imagine he's equally passionate about football though.
  7. Ok, still at 3 years...a NFL player will have made MILLIONS more than even the best collegiate wrestler. The point is wrestlers get paid diddly and squat, even if they elite. You can be a NFL player no one has heard of and still make way more money.
  8. If he has even a smidgen of a chance to make the NFL (e.g. a chance at being drafted) it would be pretty stupid to focus on wrestling instead of football. A 7th round pick will make more money in a 5 year NFL career than a multiple time Hodge Trophy winner who goes on to win Olympic medals. Sad but true.
  9. Because it's more fun to claim that Cael can't coach...he just recruits all the best wrestlers who are already good
  10. I'm an Iowa hater but don't you think it's a little unfair to assume Terry hasn't matured or evolved as a coach in the last 20 years?
  11. Awesome. Is he getting a masters or PhD?
  12. He's downstairs drilling right now...
  13. May I suggest this young man for Terry's associate head coach?
  14. https://www.instagram.com/p/CxF23x-OJDp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Wittlake: PSU (commit) => Ok St => Or St
  15. Honestly, it is pretty crazy that Terry Brands, with all of his personal and coaching accolades, can't get a HC job.
  16. According to this: https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/threads/trouble-in-paradise.425634/ Maybe he wants to step out of his brother's shadow?
  17. Even if McHenry ends up starting they would have 2 fewer transfer starters than Iowa
  18. So, were any suspension actually reported for Iowa wrestlers? I think the only source was Pat Mineo...not sure I saw anyone else reporting on the suspensions for the Hawkeye mat warriors.
  19. After Iowa, Oregon State is the 2nd most logical choice. 0% chance he ends up at Penn State. They simply don't need him and he also burned some bridges when he decommitted from PSU.
  20. Have to think Bob is happy about the transfers, no?
  21. An Iowa team starting 70% transfers...or 80% if they do get Wittlake...what does that say about the Brands' ability to attract and develop their own talent? Iowa is becoming a team of mercenaries, all for the sake of trying to win another NCAA title.
