  1. I think it was only 7 (Bartlett, SVN, Haines, Starocci, Truax, Brooks and Kerkvliet)
  2. I think Mesenbrink is likely to end the year in the top 5. Probably not Kasak though.
  3. Only Kasak is outside the top 10. Mesenbrink at #7 is their 2nd lowest ranked wrestler. 125 Davis - 4 133 Nagao -5 141 Bartlett -2 149 Kasak - 12 157 Haines - 1 165 Mesenbrink - 7 174 Starocci - 1 184 Truax - 5 197 Brooks - 1 HWT Kerkvliet - 1
  4. Yes, it does. There are like 4 locations.
  5. In the past the Young Guns Wrestling Club supplied Penn State and Iowa with their best wrestlers (Spencer Lee, Kemerer, Nolf, Vincenzo Joseph, Nico Megaludis, Josh Shields, Josh Maruca, Jimmy Gulibon, etc). But now is AWA taking over with guys like Keagen O'Toole, Mitchel Mesenbrink and the Mirasola twins? I believe the answer is yes. Whichever school can tap into the AWA pipeline will maintain dominance for the next decade.
  6. He's no Spencer Lee, that's for sure.
  7. Based on these rankings Iowa has to be the favorite for the team title.
  8. https://www.ncaa.com/_flysystem/public-s3/files/24_D1Men_Ranking1_Top33[99].pdf Penn State only has 4 wrestlers in the ranking and 0 ranked #1. 125 Ayala 131 Crookham 141 Woods 149 Lovett 157 Franek 165 O'Toole 174 Ruth 184 Keckeisen 197 Hidlay HWT Hendrickson
  9. He is still undefeated as the #1 seed at 157 but he's looked a bit off lately. He almost (and probably should have lost) to #21 Saldate yesterday and in many other matches he's not looking dominant at all. I've heard rumors that the weight cut is getting hard or perhaps a lingering injury?
  10. No. But add Mesenbrink I think they could do it.
  11. What happened?
  12. Giving up 40+ pounds Impressive or embarassing
  13. Technically yes, but how many matches did he actually wrestle in another college's singlet? Answer: 0
  14. Who is Mesenbrink's Bubba Jenkins?
  15. Ah yes, it was Gamblin' Nelson Brands. My bad.
  16. In last nights Penn-State Michigan dual Mitchell Mesenbrink had a crossface on Cam Amine when he suddenly winced in pain, pulled out his arm and showed the ref what seemed to be toothmarks. It was clear Mesenbrink was accusing Amine of biting him. Now that I think about it didn't Aaron Brooks get bitten by another Amine a few years back? Or was it Zain Retherford versus Malik Amine? Anyway, the Bitin' Amines sounds like a great band name.
  17. This is a fair assessment. Nagao still struggles finishing in neutral and relies too much on scrambling to finish. Truax still only has 1 shot.
  18. I'd be happy there's any reporting on wrestling at all.
  19. He admitted not wrestling was a last minute decision and he was ready to go and not injured or sick. What gives?
  20. Looks like I was right on the button with this one....
  21. Coming into this season it looked like Penn State's weak spots would be at 125 and 149 (once SVN got injured). However, halfway through the season it's surprising to see that the wrestlers with the most losses are actually 2 of Penn State's primo transfers in Nagao and Truax. Now I think both of these guys still will AA in March, but Penn State is showing that less heralded or proven homegrown talent (e.g. 14 year old Braeden Davis at 125, 141 pounder Tyler Kasak wrestling at 149, even Josh Barr are more than holding their own). Now Mesenbrink is obviously tearing it up but it looks like 2/3 transfers are not really living up to the hype so far. Michgan has 5 super high profile transfers in their lineup (Deaugstino, Cannon, Gomez, Griffith and Davison) and their team is looking like it won't contend at Big 10s or NCCAs. Perhaps teams need to focus more on homegrown talent rather than bringing in warworn mercenaries.
  22. Can Braeden Davis even grow peach fuzz at this point? If someone should get another 9 years of eligibility it should be Davis since he's clearly a 13 year old true freshman.
