  1. Suriano and Fix were two primo recruits coming out of high school who were as close as could be in terms of performance and pedigree. They had a WNO match that lasted over 30 minutes until a winner was finally decided, so yeah they were 1a and 1b. As we know, Suriano started at Penn State and then bounced to Rutgers and finally Michigan. Rutgers and Michigan at the time were definitely a tier below Penn State in terms of coaching and room. But yet he ended up winning 2 NCAA titles. Meanwhile Fix stayed at Oklahoma State under the tutleage of the GOAT of lightweights Mr. John Smith (sorry Spencer) for literally 8 years and never won a title. Honestly it's questionable whether he even improved at all from his freshman season. So is this an illustration of how coaching/the room may not matter as much as we all think?
  2. Can we just get rid of the big video ads that follow you as you scroll? I'm fine with the static ads but the video ads are especially annoying.
  3. And just like that, Gables time in the NFL is done. He will return to NCAA wrestling soon.
  4. There's still a little bit of white space Bob can sell.
  5. Would Gable call for "STALLING!" of Iowa's current NIL-focused graduate transfer recruiting strategy? Iowa was traditionally built on developing homegrown recruits into All-Americans and NCAA champions. Now it's built on buying other team's proven talent.
  6. Zach Glazier to SDSU Aidan Riggins to ISU Both Siebrechts are leaving apparently?
  7. $500k for AA non champ for 1 semester. How much for a Olympic gold medalist, 3x champ, Hodge winner?
  8. This is a crazy idea, but Steveson to Iowa would give them a guaranteed champ and knock off Penn State too. It might actually be the straw that breaks Penn State's back this year. It'll never happen but it would be a good move in terms of getting Iowa back to the top of the mountain.
  9. Actually, they are both from the same HS and both shoot straight on instead of finding angles. They are similar in those regards.
  10. Nagao actually was very ineffective with leg riding last season. I think he's moved away from it.
  11. This is not surprising at all. For as great as an athlete Steveson is he (1) never played football prior to joining the Bills and (2) is far too small to be a defensive tackle in the NFL. All the Aaron Donald comparisons were lazy given Donald started playing football at 5 years old and is 3" taller and 40 pounds heavier than Steveson.
  12. Keuter will have improved dramatically with a full season under his belt, and being dedicated to wrestling.
  13. There are some major homer picks here, and I am a Penn State homer. Teemer should be favored over Kasak given he placed higher (2nd) and Kasak is coming up a weight. Arnold/Kennedy are way more proven than Facundo in folkstyle. I would also favor Brands over Barr due to experience. Brands is a 8th year senior. Kerk/Keuter will not be bonus points. Kerk by dec.
  14. 5th = no trophy 3rd = trophy
  15. Which premium transfers have they lured in with big NIL bucks to fill 125?
  16. See every single 125 pounder after Nick Suriano left.
  17. Nolf would make an excellent coach. Surprised no D-1 program is offering him a spot. His creativity, pace, and scrambling ability would be so valuable to a program like Iowa. Nichols should take the $1,000,000 allocated to Teemer and Buchanon and pay it to Nolf to bring him in as Assistant Head Coach. Would pay much bigger (and longer) dividends than 1 semester rentals.
  18. Why would Tom Ryan care? Nagao did worse last year than the year at Minnesota. Whether it was due to Cael, illness, burnout or other I don't know.
  19. Nagao won't start. Kerk never suited up for another college so he's not really a transfer the way everyone else. MM is the only true transfer Penn State will start this year.
  20. In defense of Iowa with its 5 to 6 transfer starters. Michigan did the same thing last year (Deaugustino, Cannon, Gomez, Griffin, Davison) and didn't get much flack. Now they added AA Jacob Cardenas and Chase Saldate. Surely they've been handing out bags to land all these primo transfers, just like Iowa.
  21. Starocci can't be a lock up 1 or 2 weight classes. Especially with Keck at 184.
