  1. They won a team trophy this season.
  2. Wouldn't Pindrickson still win it?
  3. Congrats. Is he the first ever Hodge winner who won the year he transferred to a new team?
  4. That was really just Andrew. Dylan did AA after all.
  5. Davis has a redshirt available though. And Ryder is probably going to start despite Welsh transferring in.
  6. Kennedy is the ultimate team player. It's a shame he may be riding the pine this upcoming year despite finishing 4th this March.
  7. What was Spencer Lee's major?
  8. Well Welsh was a national finalist as a true freshman. We will see if Angelo can make the finals as a redshirt freshman.
  9. I think he was frustrated that he wasn’t even given an option to compete at 174 or 184. Based on Ohio States results there (both guys went 0-2 BBQ) at NCAAs, it’s assured Welsh would have been a better choice.
  10. Penn State was not the high bidder. Presumably Iowa and Ok St offered bigger bags but Welsh wanted to be in the best room with the best training partners. He also confirmed he’ll be wrestling 184, so it’ll be interesting to see if Ryder portals out or stays to win the spot. Welsh said that being in crowded room doesn’t matter to him because his goal is to be a champion and if he can’t win a starting spot at Penn State then he’s not ready to be a champion anyway.
  11. But how many teams aside from Iowa are starting 50% or more transfers the last few years?
  12. “If you can’t beat ‘em’, buy em’!”
  13. I’ve ragged on Iowa for its overdependence on transfers / one year mercenaries the last few years however is it unfair that other schools are calling them out for what we believe is common behavior by other top tier wrestling programs? Presumably Penn State has its own Bob Nicolls doling out bags of cash in back alley deals too.
  14. Who will be the next coach to defeat Cael at NCAAs?
  15. How did he do this year?
  16. How many more millions will Bob dish out for 3rd and 4th place finishes?
  17. Bob strikes again. Gotta give him credit for raiding Little Rock and turning it into Iowa South. 125 Peterson (transfer) 133 Ayala 141 Bailey (transfer) 149 Williams (transfer) 157 Facundo/McNeil (projected transfers) 165 Caliendo (transfer) 174 Arnold 184 Ferrari 197 Little/Ferrari (projected transfers) HWT Keuter
  18. NIL doesn’t come from the program itself. It’s from boosters. Like Bob Nichols who funds Iowa’s transfers.
  19. Ayala is a finalist and Ono has never wrestled folkstyle before I had a typo. 174 would either be Haines or Welsh
  20. It's not guaranteed or even likely, but they conceivably could win. 125 Volk is huge for the weight and could upset LL like Seymour did 133 Ayala is a favorite over whoever PSU puts out here 141 Bailey is a favorite over whoever PSU puts out here (even if it's Blaze) 149 SVN is a favorite over Williams 157 Kasak is favorite over McNeil 165 MM is a favorite over Caliendo but it's close 174 tossup (Arnold/Kennedy vs Welsh/Arnold 184 Ferrari is a favorite over Ryder 197 tossup (Ferrari vs Barr) HWT Keuter is a favorite over Mirasola
  21. This relies heavily on the transfer portal, which has been Iowa's MO the last few years. 125 Volk (transfer) 133 Ayala 141 Bailey (transfer) 149 Williams (transfer) 157 McNeil (transfer) 165 Caliendo (transfer) 174 Arnold / Kennedy 184 Ferrari 197 Ferrari (transfer) HWT Keuter
  22. To answer my own question it seems like he's already practicing MMA https://pennstatewrestlingclub.org/greg-kerkvliet-wrestling-and-beyond/
  23. I'm not sure he has interest in MMA, but he certainly has intriguing physical tools to be a heavyweight MMA fighter. Big without being overly bulky, long arms. Not sure if he has the killer instinct to be a fighter though. Then again, I don't think I ever thought Nickal had that either and he seems to be dong really well.
