  1. How many of those guys listed in the OP do greco?
  2. Are you drafting for folkstyle or freestyle (which is the only post-graduate wrestling available)?
  3. Just to be clear, none of the athletes are denying that they placed bets in violation of NCAA rules...just that they're mad they got busted?
  4. No, for several reasons. 1. Tournament is already 3 days...adding women would make it even longer. 2. It's a totally different sport right now - freestyle vs folkstyle. 3. Could you even find an interior arena big enough to hold all the mats needed?
  5. I don't think so...a lot of guys don't have upside compared to last year (especially the guys who are defending NCAA champs) Lilledahl+ Nagao = Bartlett = Van Ness= Mesenbrink+ Haines= Facundo--- Starocci+ Barr-- (he's a stud but he's not going replicate Brook's points as a freshman) Kerkvleit=
  6. Ryan is a bit of a whiner, but he's a great coach. Definitely top 3. Praying for a speedy recovery.
  7. Yeah, he's homegrown...now look at their 10 most recent AAs and how many were homegrown?
  8. I'm a huge Starocci fan but he's not really much of a freestyler. And he's a tweener size-wise. It makes the most sense for him to win a 5th NCAA title then parlay that into a UFC career. There's no reason he can't be as big (or bigger) prospect for UFC than Bo Nickal.
  9. Rutgers has to rely on sloppy seconds (or third). It got them their first two NCAA champs but they've yet to become a top 10 team. Until they corner the market on elite NJ wrestlers they will struggle to break into the top tier of teams.
  10. Financially, what is the upside of Starocci not wrestling for NCAA next year? It's not like he's got a million dollar UFC contract lined up.
  11. Ohio State is cursed. First Sasso gets shot and then this.
  12. Two Iowa Goats, see picture for reference: Caitlin Clark just signed a $28 million endorsement deal with Nike. $28,000,000 on top of what she'll earn from her WNBA contract. Meanwhile what is Spencer Lee getting? He's basically the Caitlin Clark of wrestling and just dominated OTT. Crazy how little wrestlers get paid compared to other sports...Spencer would be extremely lucky to make 10% of what Caitlin Clark will make from her Nike deal alone.
  13. It's also hard to imagine that offer coming from Penn State.
  14. I imagine Americans would heartily welcome more Russians and Iranians coming to our colleges...
  15. Well to be fair he fell short of winning a NCAA title in his five tries.
  16. America isn’t even the best country for freestyle wrestling though. So why do we assume foreigners would rush to the U.S. to wrestle collegiately?
  17. But speaking English doesn't mean they'd actually be interested in wrestling in America...
  18. He is also extremely short for a projected 133/141 pounder. So was Luke Pletcher, but the lack of length certainly isn't boosting his upside.
  19. Freestyle, more so than folkstyle, allows a wrestler to literally win without scoring an offensive point (passivity->shot clock-> points). I feel it often leads to results where a wrestler who arguably did less than his opponent can be declared the victor. Also, matches are seldom loaded with pushout points which folkstyle haters claim will boost scoring and action. So do we still want to abolish folkstyle and switch college to exclusively freestyle?
  20. Lots of unsavory behavior by Penn State fans (and wrestlers) this weekend at the Olympic Team Trials. Several Penn State immortals fell (David Taylor). Was this the weekend that finally turned the tide on Penn State for both recruits and wrestling fans generally? Is Penn State now the evil empire?
