  1. Trump: Bad people are bad. There were bad people *10 on the right and bad people on the left too. Trump: There were fine people there (Saturday) who were not the bad people I just mentioned. The bad people are unacceptable. Billy: See? Trump called the bad people fine people. Terrance Howard: I agree with Billy. According to my logic, 1*1 = 2. Theoretically, Trump could be the most racist person alive, and if only violent racists were present, in reality, he directly condemned racists and stated he was not calling them fine. Emotion overcomes logic here because Trump also condemned violence from counter-protesters. Cognitive bias leads Billy to dismiss Trump’s much greater focus on the racists. Trump’s actual words do not downplay the racists.
  2. It is interesting that Trump is simply repeating what others in Springfield have been claiming for months. Listen to 1:39 from the March 12, 2024 City Commission Meeting.
  3. Bomb threats at schools raise a red flag for me. In my area, there were several bomb and shooting threats after recent publicized shootings, which reflects copycat or attention-seeking behavior. The "eating pets" comment was a clever way to bring attention to the immigration issue, but the schools themselves aren’t related to this topic. If anything, targeting city hall makes sense.
  4. Part of the confusion stems from the torch-lit march the night before, where protesters chanting slogans like “Jews will not replace us” were clearly associated with white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideologies. The next day included those individuals, members of militia groups, AND what Trump referred to as “fine people” who were peacefully protesting the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue. While it’s understandable to question whether anyone protesting to keep the statue could be considered "fine people," it’s disingenuous to ignore what Trump repeatedly said and twist it into support for racism.
  5. Even if one believes as you do that there were only white supremacists and neo-Nazis, its clear that Trump was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists. You are being unusually dishonest about this. ---- TRUMP: Those people – all of those people, excuse me – I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. I’ve condemned many different groups, but not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists by any stretch. TRUMP: Those people were also there, because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue Robert E. Lee. So – excuse me – and you take a look at some of the groups and you see, and you’d know it if you were honest reporters, which in many cases you’re not. Many of those people were there to protest the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. So this week, it’s Robert E. Lee, I noticed that Stonewall Jackson’s coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after. You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?

  7. Curious... have you read the sequel to OP's #1?
  8. If you can admit the fine people hoax, I'll point out the lies. If you believe Trump referred KKK as fine people, providing evidence of the problems on the wiki is a waste of time.
  9. Work? Um... and what did you do with a wikipedia article? And without the honesty to call out the multiple examples of spin, opinion, and lies. ...sock puppet...
  10. I can spot the racist behaviors in that wiki article but can you spot the lies? How many can you spot?
  11. Will you take 4 minutes to listen to what Trump said on August 14th, and then revisit his words from August 15th. The transcript is provided under the video from August 14th. August 14th ...but based on the events that took place over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, I would like to provide the nation with an update on the ongoing federal response to the horrific attack and violence that was witnessed by everyone. I just met with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the deadly car attack that killed one innocent American and wounded 20 others. To anyone who acted criminally in this weekend's racist violence, you will be held fully accountable. Justice will be delivered. As I said on Saturday, we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. It has no place in America. And as I have said many times before, no matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws, we all salute the same great flag, and we are all made by the same almighty God. We must love each other, show affection for each other, and unite together in condemnation of hatred, bigotry, and violence. We must rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that bring us together as Americans. Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans. We are a nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal. We are equal in the eyes of our Creator, we are equal under the law, and we are equal under our Constitution. Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America. Two days ago, a young American woman, Heather Hayer, was tragically killed. Her death fills us with grief, and we send her family our thoughts, our prayers, and our love. We also mourn the two Virginia state troopers who died in service to their community, their Commonwealth, and their country. Troopers Jay Cullen and Burke Bates exemplify the very best of America, and our hearts go out to their families, their friends, and every member of American law enforcement. These three fallen Americans embody the goodness and decency of our nation.
  12. [Announcer Voice] Epic Rap Battles of History! Bleeding Heart! Versus... Data-Drenched Dummy! Begin! Bleeding Heart: I’ve got compassion and care, my empathy’s top-tier, While you’re buried in data, can’t even shed a tear. You might have the numbers, but I bring the soul, In the game of emotions, I’m always on a roll!” Data-Drenched Dummy: Your feels are just fluff, can’t compete with my stats, I’ve got the hard truth, and I bring the cold facts! You think you’ve got heart, but I’m the brainy boss, When it comes to real knowledge, you’re at a total loss!” Bleeding Heart: Oh, here we go, you’re bringing data to a feelings fight? You crunch numbers, but have you ever had a joyful night? I’m the master of compassion, got empathy in spades, While you're lost in spreadsheets, I'm catching all the shades! Dummy With the Facts: Oh, please, you’re drowning in emotions, sinking fast! I’ll hit you with evidence, and let the truth blast! You think your feels matter? That’s really cute, But without hard citations, your arguments are moot! You can cry all you want, it won't change the stats, I’ve got reality on lock, and that’s where it’s at! Bleeding Heart: You think numbers are everything? Wow, that’s sad! But you can’t measure kindness, and that’s just too bad! I fight for justice, I fight for my truth, While you’re lost in your charts, missing the proof! Dummy With the Facts: Your "justice" is shaky, just based on a feel, But facts don’t care if your outrage is real! I’ll win this debate with evidence in hand, You can’t fight reason—it’s how the truth stands! [Announcer Voice] Who won? Who’s next? YOU DECIDE!

  14. I'm with @wrestlingguy on this one—it’s therapeutic. Real life can be isolating when it comes to talking about important stuff. My men's baseball team is stacked with Democratic politicians, my county leans Democrat, my workplace leans Democrat, and my wife couldn’t care less about politics. The Reddit channel for non-work discussion was a no-go for different opinions—it felt like walking on eggshells. Twitter? Same story. It was a leftist echo chamber with cancel culture. Some people's comments and beliefs change the way I think about that person; I don't want too much of that in real life. But here? This wrestling forum felt like a safe space for discussion—no fear of getting body-slammed for having an opinion. We share values like work ethic, perseverance, and personal responsibility, so there's some solid common ground. Close enough in our shared interest in the sport, but far enough removed from real-life relationships. Even through the bickering, there’s a lot to be learned.
  15. @Jason Bryant - Honestly, we’ve hit our goal of making enough noise to grab the attention of the TV star who’s tuning in for the latest drama! We’re definitely feeling seen and heard!

  19. Nope I sure don't. And apparently from Trump's repeated condemnations... he didn't think they were fine people either.

  21. Yes!
  22. You keep framing in a way as if the only people supporting the retainment of the Lee statue at the awful Unite the Right rally were neo nazis and white nationalists. This is false. Most of them were but not all, including locals and heritage/history preservationists. There were also militia groups there for reasons other than race reasons. A lot of nuts IMO. You leave out that he condemned neo nazis and white nationalists repeatedly, at different times, and directly in the 'fine people' discussion. Read it fully yourself: https://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/15/full-text-trump-comments-white-supremacists-alt-left-transcript-241662 Another spin job is to say that Trump called Antifa as very fine people. Why isn't it being spun this way? No. He said that Antifa, Neo Nazis, White Nationalists, extremists committing violence are bad. But he also said there there were people on the right and left of this issue at the rally who were peaceful and fine.
  23. FOMO. I have a young (and poor early 20s) niece who spent her last dollars for Taylor Swift tickets rather than her medical expenses. Reckless spending is a coping mechanism... Regardless of how you manage your spending, there are trade-offs to maintain that current life style. For me, paying the higher costs for the status quo means delaying my retirement plans.
