  1. PSU trains a lot of people who do or have wrestled elsewhere internationally too.
  2. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Turn and face the stranger. And let's start by greeting those strangers. Intermat welcomes a host of previously unranked wrestlers to the land of the ranked. Welcome to the club gentlemen. Take a seat anywhere. The meeting will start on March 21st. In addition to the 13 new wrestlers joining the ranked club, there was a pretty good shake up at 125, 174 and 157. This late in the season it is not normal to see this kind of volatility. As expected we have a sixth team expected to finish second. Iowa has rallied hard from a weak sixth to a strong second. And still no Ben Kueter in the 285 rankings, so we have that to look forward to, as well. And finally we get to the race for the big trophy. While better than the post SVN fall out, things keep getting tighter for PSU in spite of the additions of Davis and Kasak to the rankings. That is a testament to how far Iowa has come. It is still an expected runaway victory (48.5 points), but Jimmy will be happy to see that PSU is clearly on a path for misery by late March.
  3. Just gonna leave this here for you in case you missed it in the Travis Whittlake thread.
  4. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe it is not over yet. Maybe taking the rumored Brands advice to ORS this year and wrestle for Iowa next year.
  5. In four words you hedged your bet too.
  6. I'm a fellow tool guy. Built my new house around the workshop. No frozen fingers for me.
  7. Yeah, there are a few who paid a price when they tried going upper body with Nick Lee.
  8. Gomez looked healthy at the world championships, so I would not be surprised to see the level he was at when he beat Yianni. Even though he wound up getting pinned, his three toss attempts in the world match with Nick Lee are worth the price of admission. https://www.flowrestling.org/events/11049592-2023-senior-world-championships/videos?playing=11251702
  9. He lost in the blood round in 2017 before breaking through in 2018, thanks to my wife and me.
  10. Good point. I collect college wrestling data. The funny thing is I don't really collect the tables, charts, and graphs. I do not save many of them.
  11. Not a collector of anything, butI do have an Apollo 13 pinball machine that I love. What is your favorite.
  12. It is hard to know what you are talking about because there were so many times he beat Massa. I think my favorite was the time Massa figured out a way to give up 6 plints in rideouts. That has to be some kind of record.
  13. When I watch FRL I think Pyle does a fine job. He has things to say, points to make, and steers the conversation. Then I watch these clips they put out on Twitter of Pyle sitting in front of the window talking and I find it hard to believe he is the voice of Flo. They seem very poorly thought out, rarely make a strong point making me wonder why I took the time to watch, and the verbal ticks (um, uh, you know) drive me to distraction. It is as if he does not talk on camera for a living.
  14. I just assumed Vera was so tiny at 97k he could make 125#. My bad.
  15. Looks like I mis-read Wrestlestat
  16. Imagine sending out 10 ranked wrestlers and not having a chance
  17. One more thing. There are 7 ranked v ranked match ups in this one and by the time the match starts all 10 may be ranked v ranked.
  18. The first of a wrestling triple header. Probables with Wrestlestat predictions 125: Davis v DeAugustino - Davis 8-3 133: Nagao v Ragusin - Nagao 7-3 141: Bartlett v Lemley - Bartlett 10-3 149: Kasak v Gomez - Gomez 12-5 157: Haines v Mattin - Haines 12-2 165: Mesenbrink v Amine - Amine 5-4 174: Starocci v Griffith - Starocci 5-4 184: Truax v Bullock - Truax 10-6 197: Brooks v Striggow - Brooks 18-4 285: Kerkvliet v Davison - Kerkvliet 6-4 Final PSU 26-6 Some tasty match ups in this one. 125 Davis, not yet ranked (but that has to change, right?), against #3 DeAugustino to provide some clarity at 125? Yeah, no. Still no clarity no matter who wins. 133 #4 Nagao against not yet ranked, but still 16-0 at 133, Dylan Ragusin. Nagao hasn't beaten anyone notable while Ragusin's best win is probably over Colaiocco from Penn. Both guys have questions outstanding they need to answer. 149 True freshman Kasak coming in for injured Shayne Van Ness shows off PSU's depth. His only loss so far is to teammate Bartlett at 141. But this is a big step in class against one of the favorites at 149, Austin Gomez. 165 Mesenbrink v Amine may be the most interesting match up of the night. The contrast in styles and experience could not be more stark. PSU's red shirt freshman is all gas/no brakes. Meanwhile Michigan's fifth year junior likes to keep them close. Though Amine is coming off of a rough stretch (lost 3 of last 4), he has seen it all and will look to shut Mesenbrink's offense down. 174 Starocci and Griffith, the first #1 v #4 match up, will bring four titles to the mat with them. Though Starocci is looking like a Hodge favorite this year while Griffith has already taken two losses. 285 Kerkvliet and Davison are the second #1 v #4 match up of the night. With 11 years of college wrestling experience between them this has to be one of the most, if not the most, number of combined years on the mat at one time. Surprisingly this is the only pair that have ever wrestled each other before, though Davison was at Northwestern for that one. Davison leads 1-0, but Kerkvliet is the favorite to even the series.
  19. And what principal would that be?
  20. That guy you asked about was Kerkvliet, not Hutmacher. And the L is yours, not Hutmacher's. Read your own posts. You will see it.
  21. We will need soooo much more than your word on this. Video or it didn't happen.
