WrestleStat March Matness 2024 Tournament Pool
PortaJohn replied to FanOfPurdueWrestling's topic in College Wrestling
I've been able to win many of my pools with usually only taking one #1 seed. Sometime I take none and build it around #2's & #3's. For the big board luck definitely has to be on your side -

I wouldn't say that but think of it this way just for fun. Using WKNs chart lets say the admin let you take 5 #1 seeds for your 1,000 & I took 5 # 2 seeds (800) I'd have 200 points to spare and could take a #1 seed. Chances are I beat you by having 6 scoring wrestlers vs your 5. Your five #1's expected score (102.65) vs my five #2's & one #1 (106.93) It's all about value. Also, you have to take Carter Starocci. A) he's the best value pick at #9 and probably at any weight B) It's an offset pick. Have to strategize because everyone is taking him or at least they should -

I'd drop O'toole and pick up another top seed if you're looking for bonus value. He has a tough go quarters on. There's an obvious top seed that I think a lot of people forgot has been wrestling this season -
I believe next year pretty much finishes off the covid cycle.

Aaron Brooks Mistakes Stadium for Mosque: Misses on Opportunity for Fourth Title Kansas City, March 24, 2024 In a hilarious mix-up that left bystanders amused and Aaron embarrassed, a college wrestler, Aaron Brooks, mistakenly confused a bustling stadium for a mosque during a recent event. The incident occurred last night at T-Mobile Center, one of Kansas City's most iconic sports and entertainment venues. Aaron, known for his fervent passion to win a fourth title, had eagerly anticipated Saturday night's finals. However, what unfolded was an unexpected twist of events that had Aaron seeing the world through a different lens. As crowds flooded into the stadium, Aaron, caught up in the excitement of the moment, failed to notice the telltale signs that he was not entering a sports arena but rather a place of worship. Ignoring the architectural cues and the absence of a wrestling mat, he confidently made his way inside, his mind filled with visions of having his hand raised. It wasn't until Aaron found himself surrounded by rows of individuals engaged in quiet prayer, their heads bowed in reverence, that the realization of his mistake dawned upon him. Shocked and embarrassed, Aaron attempted to blend in with the worshippers, but his unmistakable sports attire made him stand out like a sore thumb in the serene atmosphere of the mosque. Witnesses to the amusing incident couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of the bewildered athlete amidst the congregation. However, rather than causing offense, Aaron's unintentional intrusion sparked laughter and camaraderie among those present. "It was definitely an unexpected moment of levity," remarked Salman Ahmed, one of the worshippers who witnessed Aaron's blunder. "We were in the midst of our prayers when suddenly this guy walks in wearing a Penn State track suit. We couldn't help but find it amusing." Despite his initial embarrassment, Aaron was met with kindness and understanding from the mosque's attendees, who reassured him that everyone makes mistakes. He was invited to join them for tea, where he shared laughter and stories with his newfound friends. Reflecting on the incident, Aaron expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received and vowed to pay closer attention to his surroundings in the future. "It was definitely a memorable experience," Aaron admitted with a sheepish grin. "I'll be sure to double-check where I'm going next time, but hey, at least it gave everyone a good laugh." As Aaron's accidental adventure came to an end, it served as a reminder of the importance of embracing diversity and finding humor in life's unexpected moments – whether they occur on the wrestling mat or in the halls of a mosque.

Well, I think this settles the debate. Mark Manning is a whiny bitch.
-
Thats a great trivia question for @cowcards how many wrestlers have both won and loss a match by forfeit at the NCAA tourney (single year)
-
Again. Cael is not solely responsible for the national duals debacle. He's one of quite a few evil coaches who participated in its demise
-
Yeah but this is a message board so its far more important to argue a) is Manning a whiny bitch b) how evil is Cael Sanderson
-
No way! That would make the season even more irrelevant and everyone is susceptible to a bad weekend, slight injury, sickness, girlfriend dumped you, etc. One weekend shouldn't define your season as to whether or not you can wrestle at Nationals.

ROFKIN Won't Charge Biden in classified Wrestling Probe Kansas City, MO _ President Joe Biden claimed Sunday that last night he finished on top of the podium at the 2024 NCAA Division 1 Wrestling Tournament, although records indicate he was not there. In a videotape aired by Rofkin Sunday, the Delaware Democrat was asked about what wrestling tournament he competed in and how well he did. On the videotape, a clearly angered Biden told the questioner: ''I think I probably have a much higher placement than you do. ''The first year in college I decided I didn’t want to wrestle and ended up in the bottom two-thirds of my weight class and then decided I wanted to stay and went back to practice and in fact ended up on the top of my weight class,’' he went on. Biden has been deviled about questions in the last 10 hours about his wrestling career. In the videotape, Biden went on to say, ''I went to (Syracuse) on a full wrestling scholarship.’' ''I won the international NCAA competition. ... I was the outstanding wrestler ... I graduated as a three time All American... And I’d be delighted to sit back and compare my placements to yours if you’d like, Willie,’' Biden told the questioner. Biden told Flowrestling he was ''frustrated’’ and ''angry as hell’’ about the Rofkin report. ''It’s so easy to make things look like there’s something sinister about them,’' he said. ''I guess every single word I’ve said is going to be dissected now.’' Of his NCAA finish at the National Tournament, he said, ''I exaggerate when I’m angry, but I’ve never gone around telling people things that aren’t true about me.’'
