  1. Think I read this some time ago, but thanks for sharing again! I might have a couple links you'd and I'll post them here for you and the forum.... https://nusports.com/sports/2015/6/26/MIDLANDS_0626155320.aspx https://nusports.com/documents/2016/1/13/Midlands_Record_Book.pdf http://www.win-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/year-by-year-at-midlands.pdf
  2. That wasn't meant to say coaches were "ducking" anyone, and I agree, athletes need to train and compete smart, including getting the correct amount of rest. It's also possible, in your season long schedule to work to peak for a tournament like Midlands, which is at semester, and then begin anew at the start of the second semester, making your second peaking phase for the conference and NCAA tournaments.
  3. For many years, Midlands was the place to wrestle after Christmas. In the early years, there wasn't much international stuff for our top post collegiate wrestlers to compete in, so you had for example in the early 70's, Gable, the Petersons, Behm, Taylor, Hellickson, Fujita, Schalles, Wojociechowski, Yagla, Azevedo, Gonzales and Kemp, all competing there. Because it was THE event back then, many of the top teams came. Having 3 tournaments in the same time frame has diluted all of the tournaments down..the Southern Scuffle, Midlands, and the Iowa whatever you want to call it....I know the "Salute". And there's other factors as well....I don't have time to even think about what coaches are thinking about why or why not to compete, and where to compete.
  4. Medicine Man is back!!! Welcome...nice to see you've still got those skills....Fadz HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  5. Let's make 2023 the BEST!
  6. Maybe more specifically Crimson.
  7. And if you believe that, I can show you where Jimmy Hoffa's body ended up.
  8. GOOD ONE...LOL
  9. I guess we better proof read more carefully.....I've been there and done that as well.
  10. Maybe Mark Churella knows how to do it better.....it's his tournament....started it when he was the head coach a LasVegas. I believe it's in it's 40th year this year.
  11. You've got at least 7 spelling mistakes .....please correct them....OH....you posted 3 hours ago....."but it was too late....she'd already been mooned"(from The StreaK) OR
  12. It's great....still would like to have more time to edit a post.....a couple times I looked back later, and couldn't correct/change something. In all....it seems to be great!! Thanks to all who may have helped including "Big Bob". Question .....are the files from the old forum available now??? (asking for a friend)
  13. Among a few other phrases....and cheers to you as well....keep your belt buckle shiny and your shoe laces tied.
  14. Are you in reference to a former NCAA Champion from Iowa State (as a wrestler and as a coach) using this quote when he broadcasts????
  15. Wish you had more time to edit your posts.....this should have said 5 years is plenty
  16. All those extra years of not getting on with your life....job, getting a retirement setup at work, family.......just sayin..... years is plenty....still glad I got out in 4 and got on with my life.....at the other end of your career, you may appreciate it. I know there are points that might be argued here....just sayin'
  17. Very clever.....extra credit!!!
  18. I've always respected Panther wrestling! Doug Schwab is doing a great job there presently. Lot's of great Panther wrestlers through the years, besides, Sandy Stevens wouldn't appreciate me going against the Panthers
  19. He's only one of "hundreds" that Belaglozov picked apart in a match. Wasn't meant to demean anyone, including BP.
  20. In my video library, I have a video of Sergei at one World Championship using 2 on 1 to a step around bodylock against every guy....put them all on there back. He was a "machine"....and non-stop!!! I think that was his goal....to hit every guy with it.
  21. I know it's not collegiate, and I was looking for some Belaglozov bodylocks in competition to add to the Christmas thread where I mentioned bodylocks to a fall/pin. Before I could get that far, I found this "gem". An example of my good friend/team mate Sergei Belaglozov showing a few of his skills on his feet and par tierre. Enjoy!! Merry Christmas https://fb.watch/hE7_kX0i9j/
  22. And may all your Metzgers and Steparound Bodylocks end up on pins. As in.....
