  1. Wish you a Merry Christmas!
  2. I went a couple of clinics at Grove City years ago....Jim Humphrey (Indiana) one week and Dave Schultz (Wisconsin) the other. I'm sure they had ulterior motives for being there (wink)....at the clinics were Kenny Ramsey, Rex Holman and Adam DiSabato.....Hellickson got all 3 though. The Schultz clinic was super....not that Hump was bad. Schultz renamed a hold the "Grove City leg hook" to add a little humor.
  3. Oops.....I forget a Gibbons cliche that came to life today in the ISU/Iowa dual......"Bring the hips to the party", oh and...."close his pockets".
  4. Can you refresh my memory on that discussion on the old board? He's got a couple of daughters.
  5. No way you can compare him to Sergei Belaglozov.....Belaglozov was a "MACHINE".....there's nobody out there on the collegiate level...maybe any level that compares to my former team mate ....Sergei Belaglozov....his motor and toolbox was HUGE!!
  6. I agree, and "sqwawkers", I like that!
  7. Schwab is a good coach!
  8. I'm starting to think.....wow, let's just wrestle....maybe we should just start at the next weight every year...smh
  9. Well said....I agree.....but in some of Jordan's interviews he even goes beyond the mat itself, talking about balancing family life with his training and there, he'll get into the training, including wt. management, competitive schedule, wt. training, technical stuff and more, not so much when he has the opportunity to announce but on Flo for example....loved his interview termed "Coffee With Jordan Burrough's", and then to be there the other day on television with his family at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as proof of what he talks about....great role model.
  10. First off, I was talking about Jordan Burroughs....greatest ambassador should have been a clue. Second, I had to Google Jimmy Lennon Jr.....I watched boxing growing up/back in the day, but not anymore.....watch some MMA, and lastly, I do like Tony Romo's announcing, I think he does a great job....still think Jordan B. is the best thing that's happened to our sports since Gable, back in the day and longer.
  11. I realize he does radio, and that they use his feed sometimes for video.....I'm just saying.....he drives me nuts.....I just shut off the audio and watch the match.....I I didn't like PSU wrestling, I wouldn't watch, but I do....just give me Tim Johnson, Jim Gibbons, or other guys like that. Even Gibbons, who is a friend of mine gets to me a little with some of his frequent terms/phrases....."belt buckle", "shoe laces", "Silver Fox"....... Just stating my opinion, maybe I shouldn't as the topic used the term "amusing". Radio fans can love him.....I watch wrestling on TV/livestreams/Flo......therefore, I prefer a television announcer. 12. So, it's not just me.
  13. I know a lot of guys love this guy Jeff Byers PSU....but he drives me nuts.......sounds like he's announcing the Kentucky Derby or doing an auction......talks a mile a second.

  15. I consider JB our greatest ambassador right now.....articulate, great role model, has his "stuff" together and can express it so well..... Great to listen to!! I don't think I would put him with those two. He's special!!! Another great announcer from past .....Keith Jackson, also I liked Jim McKay.
  16. I was thinking the same thing.....the Iranians are wrestling fanatics.
  17. Wow, I forgot about Charlie Heller....tough dude and then, as I look at it, Joe Gormally (Northern Iowa) placed 4th in Div. 2 in '78, 2nd Div. /4th Div. 1 in '79, and 7th in Div. 1 in '82.......TOUGH WT. CLASS!!!! Thanks for the help!!!
  18. Here's another exerpt found from "OrangePower"?
  19. I just did some Googling and found an excerpt from the old mat.com forum which is now closed.....In an article I read, this was the reason Fujita came to OSU....Uetake alerted Roderick of him. Destribats - International Wrestling - TheMat.com Forums http://board.themat.com › ... › International Wrestling Jul 23, 2021 — And Uetake did lose a match in an Olympic trials to another Cowboy great....Yoshiro Fujita...... GoldenAggie.
  20. Makes me want to try smoking a turkey or chicken....haven't used my smoker in years.
  21. I know you're going to say because he never lost, but really???? Over John Smith 6 time world and Olympic champion (consecutively) If I remember correctly, Uetake did lose a match in the Olympic Trials (Japan) to Yoshiro Fujita.....Fujita then competed for OSU NCAA Champion and most likely 2 timer if he isn't seriously injured first round of the 1972 NCAA's and has to default out.
  22. Darryl Burley....an all-time favorite....4 time finalist 2 time champion
  23. Now that you mention it, how about 1982 177 pound bracket ....one of the most epic matches of all time Mark Schultz.....3 time NCAA Champion Olympic Champion and 2 time World Champion vs. Ed Banach ......3 time NCAA Champion as well as Olympic Champion. Also in the weight...Jim Scherr Nebraska NCAA Champion and 2 time world silver medalist, Perry Hummel ISU NCAA 4-4-4 and Ed Potokar Ohio State NCAA 8-3 with 151 wins
