Your team would have to allow you to forgo the entire season (basically) and then take over a weight class at post-season/nationals. If I’m the “regular” guy at 157 for 20+ matches this season and then come tournament time I have to sit so Shapiro can go wrestle for hardware, I’m going to be pretty salty

Couldn’t he also just take the extra year and just not really use it/be a backup plan in case Taylor/Araujo get hurt?

Yep, and I think this is sort of where 5/5 will go. I think plenty of guys will still find a year or 2 where they sit for various reasons like development or waiting for a senior to finish or whatever. I don’t think nearly as many people will be trying to fight for 5 full years of contest as we might think

That is what I have been thinking. He has burned 3 years already, he has 2 more max under each rule set. Why declare old rules and be ineligble when he can just do the exact same thing under the new rules (unless there a restrictions I don't know about that deal with competing in FS while in RS vs not in RS

If you were the caliber of wrestler Shapiro is, would you just punt a year as a backup?

Isn’t that essentially the same as what he’d be doing by redshirting?

If he's not a backup he has 2 tournaments? I think. If he's redshirting  or backup he has 1 tournament ?  Or am I wrong again.

Anyone else shocked that @mr.nonothingatall wasn't the first to break this news?  :classic_huh:

Breaking news as Tom and terry brands are caught "making it rain with cash" while Jordan williams recommits to Iowa where he will struggle to remain eligible all season.... But in reality they just want him for that freestyle

Does this mean AJ crawled out of the portal?
