Who did Davino & Blaze beat?

Off the top of my head Davino beat Drake x 2, VanDee x 2, Blaze and lost to him in TB, Fugitt, Frost, Boarman….. all quality wins

So Davino beat the 3,6,13,16,24 and lost to 3

Jax beat the 4,5,6,20 and lost to nobody.

I guess coaches rank took margin of victory and eye test heavily into account.  I don't think margin of victory is a good measure for predicting the future.  But it looks like the Jax vs Ayala match followed by Ayala at Big Ten had a big impact.  Plus the Seidel and Larkin wins.  I think Jax could have been 1, 2, or 3 without the committee getting anything wrong.

Don't know the algorithm but Jax beat the 4, 5 & 6 seeds, two of them total domination.  The 1 seed didn't wrestle the 2 or 3 but the 2 & 3 didn't wrestle the 4 or 5 and both had losses to each other.

Why even wrestle in the early season at this point. Especially in the B1G. Wrestle your redshirts early in the year and just go hard for a couple months with your veterans

I agree that if you have a guy who can do more in half a season then anyone else can do in a whole season, then that guy can make the first half unimportant.

Kind of like Josh Barr at 197 except Barr didn't wrestle as many highly ranked guys in his half season.

Jax is undefeated and beat some quality guys. Why wouldn’t he be the #1 seed? Blaze and Davino are both freshmen too, so what would put them above Jax?

He only wrestled 13 matches.   That's why.

They had one job to give Davino the rightfully earned #1 seed and they got it wrong. You can't give a one semester wrestler the #1.

Officially rooting for Davino to run this gauntlet......Knox in round of 16, then Byrd, then Blaze, then Forrest/Seidel.

Outstanding Wrestler incoming..........

I think Jax has impressed a lot of coaches and they didn't want to look dumb if Jax goes on a whirlwind, they know Jax will score the others are chasing. I think they went with their gut in this unique situation. Did the coaches ranking put him above Davino?

Haven't seen the coaches ranking but they must've because the matrix favored  Davino.  At least for next season we don't have to read post after post about the importance of the regualar season.  Jax fixed that.

Davino beat the 2

Actually, the minute Byrd lost in the Big Ten tournament Blaze was sitting at number 1. If he beats Davino again he would have stayed at number 1. So, when Davino wrestled Blaze, he was number 1. If he beats Blaze again at a neutral venue (Cleveland) Davino will be in the finals. Blaze is from Perry High School 35 miles from Cleveland. Maybe not so neutral.

At only 13 matches did Jax even qualify for the coach's rankings? They have minimum numbers. It was mentioned on some other threads.

I never said Jax didn’t deserve the 1, I just wanted to see Jax/seidel and blaze/Davino opposite…. You asked what would have prevented Jax 1, I thought maybe amount of matches could have prevented it

Good job thanks. It would have been nice to split Davino and Blaze and see how Jax does against them. Jax is wrestling well. It should be some great wrestling.

I think all would have preferred say Forrest/Blaze one side and Davino/Seidel other side with Larkin, Ayala, Byrd sprinkled around for good measure.  Instead we got kind've b10 & b12acc sides that had already wrestled.  But this is what happens with an unbiased structured algorithm - enter data get output.

Exact opposite. This is what an algorithm looks like. Coaches ranking swayed things.

To be fair Jax wrestled both semesters just wrong weight class (kindve like Larkin 😉 ) fall semester for ranking credit.
