Thought Merrill would have had riding time.   Would be nice to have a RT clock.

They said it was at 57 seconds.

I agree the lack of RT clock is bad.

Those effin sissies. The sky wasn’t even turning. I hope nobody was hurt anywhere else, I really do. At the BOK it barely hailed. Ryder was ten times tougher than the person on the weather alarm.

all that said, I am all in for the pokes but am impressed with NDSU. Those kids have guts.

So Mizzou has qualified 4 of 10 with one still alive for an automatic qualifier. I’d guess Edmond gets an at-large (although he doesn’t deserve it). Do Mayfield and Bates get one based on past performance? I hope Mauger gets one but not holding my breath.

Overall, really disappointing outing for the Tigers. We need a change if we want to keep guys like Mendoza, Rath, Steed, Sinclair, and Stillwell from getting plucked by NIL…

———————-

125: Mauger (7th/8th) - Needs At Large

133: Gage Walker (WB Semi) - Qualified

141: Easton Hilton (0-2) - Out

149: Josh Edmond (7th/8th) - Needs At Large

157: Teague Travis (WB Semi) - Needs to finish 5th or better. Sucks he ran into Robideau in the quarters.

165: Maxx Mayfield (1-2) - Out

174: Cam Steed (Finals) - Qualified

184: Aeoden Sinclair (Finals) - Qualified

197: Evan Bates (0-2) - Out

Hwt: Jarrett Stoner (WB Semi) - Qualified

Roark a Mo native is tough, but to see him ride Mack the whole third was tough. Wanted badly for Mack to score from bottom. Overall as stated, super disappointing outing for the majority of the team. Smith needs to let the best guy go regardless of grade. We refuse to ride, Edmonds mostly and struggle on bottom.

Bates is in a tough spot bc he didn’t even make it to the 9th place bracket and one of the wildcard criteria is finishing one spot out of an automatic spot. 197 has Rune Lawerence (in the 9th place match) , Brock Zurawski from rider, in the big 10 Gabe Arnold is going to steal someone’s bid and their are only 4 wildcards available.

oh hmm i don't think he did for the QF - maybe he did for the consolation match to preserve his eligibility but i don't think he could if he failed the protocol

@SetonHallPirate has Zerban on the blotter but idk if that means he's DQd from at-large eligibility

Nope...very much eligible for at-large eligibility. Really is a preliminary look at who needs an at-large.

No worries.  I should do a better job of proof reading before I push the button.  It was a real issue back in my drinking days.  Sure don't miss that.

As I get older and the drinking doesn't... reduce... I notice i full-send shit far too often. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Also, if anyone is at B1Gs this year, hit me up.  I don't anticipate having good reception in there, so if I miss you until tonight - I apologize.

I will be the rather inebriated skinny old black dude hanging around the Maize and Blue all day.  Day drinking starts at 5:00 AM with Uber.

Edit:  Wrong thread, I know.

There isn't a criteria of physically stepping on the mat twice at conferences?

What was the Starocci thing about, then?  He had to step on the mat for 0:01 for both of his matches.

See my repost I just added from last year after the Stanford vs MU dual, and enjoy all the comments about MU wrestling at the time.  I think I even commented on one of the posts about "Holding that thought!"

I certainly admire loyalty to a program and Brian Smith deserves a huge kudos for his part, but it is time.

It's nice to see Arizona State in 3rd place in the team scores.  Their dual meet record this season was pretty dismal.   Nice to see them showing well at the championships.   The finals is clearly dominated by Oklahoma State and to a lesser extent Iowa State but ASU has three finalists in the Larkin brothers and Ruiz.

Had to check on this one...but it's two countable matches. A win in the first match and then a medical forfeit that counts as a loss in the next counts in that regard. (I thought the same thing you did at first)

I agree time for new blood at the top.  I think most misunderstand my post, probably because I don’t do a good job of conveying my thoughts.  Do I want to see the best guy wrestle, of course, but for many years I let decisions or outcomes that I have no control over effect me waayyyy to much.  Like ruin my day or week.  So I try and see things a little different than normal.  Do I think Mendoza should have started the year, yes.  Unfortunately, grew and the trigger to go up was not pulled fast enough.  I think Seth is vastly superior to Edmond.  I also think he could have AAed this year.  I think it would have been unfair to Mendoza to just throw him in at the end of the year.  Meaning I don’t think he would have maximized his potential because of decisions made from Smith thru the year.  Since none of us can change those I try and think next year he will be even more of a hammer.  Does all of this suck, yep, but I’m trying not to let it feel like I’m eating a big sh!t sandwich.

Year just didn’t pan out for UNI. Guys like Farber, Simma, and Anderson didn’t improve, Land and Voelker got hurt, and nobody really stepped up at 157 and 197. Might be a tough couple years coming up.
