Gambling ruins ever sport it touches so I hope that it stays as far away from wrestling as possible.

We don't need wrestlers throwing matches like basketball players throw games.

Ruins is quite an exaggeration

The PSU line really depends on 125 and 165, IMO.

125 will be the most competitive match of the night, I'd imagine. McGowan is good. LL has turned it on recently though, so I could see bonus, but I wouldn't predict it.

Whalen hasn't looked great up at 165. He was on a heater during his gray shirt season with the NJRTC at 149, but went 1-2 at NCAAs last year. He got majored by Brignola this year, who got majored by MM. So...can Whalen avoid the tech or pin? We'll see.

I would say Luke by dec. Blaze major, Davis dec, SVN tech, Duke pin, MM tech, Haines tech, Welsh pin, Barr tech, Mirsola tech. That's 47. Should be close.

McGowan's only losses are close. Major is possible though. I think Davis needs a major

PSU -46.5 vs. Princeton and Iowa (+9.5) vs. Oklahoma State (-9.5). Two enticing lines for the weekend.

Won't touch Penn State cause it's hard to judge bonus. Iowa v OK State is interesting.

125 - Tossup -- Going Peterson by dec -- Iowa 3 - 0 OSU
133 - Jax by dec - Iowa 3 - 3 OSU
141 - Vega by maj - Iowa - 3 - 7 OSU
149 - Tossup -- Going Swiderski by dec - Iowa 3 - 10 OSU
157 - Robideau by maj - Iowa 3 - 14 OSU
165 - Tossup -- Going Caliendo by dec - Iowa 6 - 14 OSU
174 - Tossup -- Going Facundo by dec - Iowa 6 - 17 OSU
184 - Tossup w/ Arnold in the lineup - Going Arnold by dec - Iowa 9 - 17 OSU
197 - Merrill by dec - Iowa 9 - 20 OSU
285 - Doucet by dec - Iowa 9 - 23 OSU

Iowa has to win a lot, if not all, of the tossups to keep it close. I'm going OSU -9.5.

No it's not.  When you have to ask yourself if the game is on the level it ruins the sport.  Players in every major sport have been suspended for gambling connections and the FBI just nailed a ton of college basketball players.  That's ruined for me.

I can argue both sides. Have an interest in an event or find an event interesting.

There has been one significant improvement come from sports gambling though: video review. If it wasn’t for betting, we wouldn’t review plays. It wouldn’t matter because it would just be entertainment.

Combat sports (boxing, kick boxing, mma, etc.) have been fixing events before baseball did.

Sports betting was only illegal between 1992-2018 due to PASPA. States had the onus to sanction legal betting before 1992. Nevada, NJ, and maybe CT had books before.

I’m not a gambler really. I wouldn’t touch the PSU one. It’s too big, too close to “perfect”.
It’s like big early season spreads in football games, when PSU would be favored by 56 vs Southwest Bible Tech for the Visually Impaired and Franklin would manage a 28-10 win…it was hard to make big plays with all the canes swinging around and service dogs on the field.

It’s Sr night and you never know if there are 1-3 gaps in the lineup to get a backup in for a match on his Sr night.

Iowa-anOSU is interesting. Round 2. This isn’t the same Iowa team, they’re heading quickly in different directions team wise…Iowa their annual slide, anOSU maybe with their new trend (small sample size so far) of peaking at the end of the season.

I checked two years ago and last year and they wrestled their full lineup for senior nights both times.

Did you check years going back to when Cael started at PSU? His Iowa St years?

PSU only has 3 seniors, I believe, and one of them is Levi Haines.  I would have thought that they would at least have put Lucas Cochran in the lineup at HWT for the meet.  The other senior is a transfer Graduate student that has never wrestled in a dual.

And Cochran is solid so it might not matter there. I would assume all would go, but if 1-2 or 2 didn’t, it’s wrestling, it’s a huge spread, they’ll probably cover but I wouldn’t touch it, but like I said, I’m not a gambler, this might be easy money. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

If I talk someone into a winning bet or out of a losing one, do I get a cut??

What odds can I get on the pastry starting more than 18.5 new threads in the month or March?  We have the right to gamble on everything correct?  🙄

Now THATS easy money! I’m taking the over!

Unfortunately, Pablo is working this week on assessment, so I'm not able to run a dual ranking.  I'd be interested in seeing what it would predict.

People have often asked me if I ever use Pablo for betting, or could I.  In principle, I could, but I wouldn't expect much, because it's up against informed betters.  But I've never looked into it.  My initial response was, "Who the hell is betting on NCAA women's volleyball?" but nowadays, there's a lot more action.

This^^^

Gambling is great. Haters need to stop clutching their pearls.

Football both CFB and NFL have the highest rantings of all sports on TV and I doubt anyone really questions where games are on the level.

Also, gambling has been around forever and if it wasn't legal, it would still be around on the black-market/illegal bookies.

I like Indiana (+3.5) and Virginia (+13.5) tonight.  Dunno if they are good or bad bets; just what caught my eye.

I also only bet $1; basically view it as paying for the entertainment of having a rooting interest on a dual I'm largely impartial on .  If I'm lucky than it works out in my favor and if I'm not than oh well - it was a $1 and that's the cost of having a rooting interest.

Big Ten Plus oddly lists the starting time on their website (where one is cued for the countdown to the start) for the PSU vs. Princeton match today as 3:38 PM (Pacific) where I am located or, I suppose 6:38 PM (EST).

What gives?  Absurdity or an error?

Senior night as the answer?

PSU and OkSt have both moved a point

I'm hammering Princeton to cover +47.5, sprinkling in Cornell +1.5 @ -105, and cashing in on DT teaching Iowa how to have fun instead of backing up @ -10.5

i am an idiot on the internet
