Thanks.  Any evidence this money was moved to football?  The IU link even names the main donors and includes quotes from them specifically talking about wrestling.

Someone said it on the internet. What more proof do you need?

Not sure if it was posted somewhere here but Willie said on Basch that allegedly Poeta was offered the job back but then he made a bunch of demands that the school wouldn’t agree to.

Yeah similar to what I suspect.  Report was they were preparing to re-instate before b10 tournament.  My sources investigation found nothing.  I figured Mike wouldnt agree (sign forms) to not sue.  The t-shirt thing is nonsense, there are disclosure/conflict of interest forms for that.  Look at the non Nike hats Carl & DT were wearing in recent videos.  Did Mike get crossways with his direct boss ... probably but ...  I expect there will be $s change hands.

Typically, athletes and staff can wear whatever they want including competing brands on their personal time outside of competitions, practices, press conferences, and official appearances. I'm hoping Sanderson is spotted walking around in CAEL'S COOKIE gear

It wasn't "personal time."

Hanging out after practice (work), arguably off the clock/personal time and grey area at best.

Its not the point but do you consider locker room in athetic dept facility interview "personal time?"

There's process for doing what was done its not an issue.  Now I can say that universities are often known for not following their own rules,  MP's case in point.

To clarify: contractually, athletes and staff are not required to wear the apparel of their school's endorsement deal on their own time. So yeah, locker room, not competition or practice, not an official presser and or appearance.

BREAKING NEWS WAY LATE: Responding to the OP. Peota has been fired

The allege violation wasn't that Poeta and the team where wearing non nike clothes but that Poeta was using University funds to buy his wife's apparel (not Nike or school approved).

My uneducated read from afar is at some point, Poeta and his boss started to not see eye to eye.  So when his boss got the chance, he suspended him for the above allegation.  As others have noted, its still a very minor infraction and after an investigation the University didn't think it warranted termination.

Poeta felt vindicated (and quite possibly never did misuse funds) so he overplayed his hand and when he wanted to be cleared, which the University didn't have to and didn't want to admit they were wrong, so with Poeta not complying the AD had enough to justify firing him.

It's too bad because the reinstatement would have been enough to give the impression that Poeta didn't do anything wrong.

If it’s true that he used university funds to buy merchandise from his wife’s company, that’s not really minor IMO.
