Not sure if you’re saying we should believe science or not believe science because this proves both points…

I knew he was right of center, which is fine -- I am too, in many ways -- but I didn't realize what a whack-job conspiracy theorist he is. If you don't think that's there's a difference, I can't help you.

You may be right that he's held these more extreme views for a while.  I do recall reading that he's an anti-vaxxer, which is a bit fringe, although I never had the sense he was pushing those views on others.

But he sounds like the crazy uncle that everyone dreads seeing on Thanksgiving.  His first post peddles the view that Bitcoin is headed to $10 million/coin.  Um, ok.  His next post says that Minnesota passed a law to allow illegal aliens to vote.  Um, ok. Just type "Grok is this true?" and it'll explain why it's false, but Ryan can't be bothered and parrots it anyway.  There's a bunch more like that.

Again, if you like crypto, fine.  If you think we should be more vigilant about preventing voter fraud, fine. Reasonable people can differ.  But at least keep one tire on the road, and if you're a D1 coach, don't peddle demonstrably false or objectively insane viewpoints.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea in general for D1 coaches to be pushing ANY divisive political views publicly.  It tells wrestlers and recruits that they're less welcome if they don't share those views, and tells them they're going to get an earful of it in the wrestling room, like it or not. Not good, especially when you're the running the program at the flagship state-funded institution in a top wrestling state.

But again, if you're going to do it at all, at least keep it within reasonable bounds. When you push conspiracy theories and blatant falsehoods, it suggests your judgment is impaired and you can't be trusted to make sound decisions on behalf of your athletes.

I don't necessarily disagree with this post...I personally don't support some of the takes he has and wouldn't post the things he does even if I believed them, but again that is me.  My point is that the stuff he does post is clearly not impacting the team, recruiting, nor the university.

And I don't necessarily disagree with yours either, but I'd probably reword your last sentence to say that his views and expression of them hasn't prevented tOSU from being successful.  Because that's certainly true.  They're killing it this year.

Whether it's adversely impacted the team is hard to know.  He's a well-liked guy overall, but we'll never know if, for example, any recruits shied away from tOSU because of Ryan's views, or any donors have withheld their dollars on account of Ryan's pushing of controversial views.

Also, his recent pro-ICE tweets certainly seem to have drawn some unwanted press and social media attention:

Not saying it's costing them any wins, but I doubt it's wholly without adverse impact, even if the extent of the impact is hard to gauge.
