Sharipov?! Still?!

You're thinking of Sharif Sharifov. This is last year's 125 bronze and 2020 "world champ" (covid cup). Defected to Bahrain a minute ago and pretty sure he's still in his mid/late twenties.

i am an idiot on the internet

Always funny when they travel across the world just to wrestle US guys. At least he'll get an international opponent in the finals.

What was the criteria in the Hamiti match - had a TD at the end to tie, 4-4, but lost.

France had 2 2's, Hamiti had a 2 and 2 1's

I'm so confused. SB got bullied pretty easily - yet still scored the majority of the points. Is SB a medal threat or are they both fodder?

That's just Yazdani's underhook and pressure. Buchanan would has never felt anything like that.

I didn't see the match but it looks like Yazdani's up 2 weights here, 97kg instead of 86.  Not sure why. Given how much he relies on his underhook pressure, I don't see how can succeed up at 97. I wouldn't read too much into Buchanan's win.

Was hard trying to weed through the Iranian thread to find out the reasoning.  Maybe someone can answer me here.  Yazdani at 97kg???  Make it make sense
