VT had the 2, 3 and 4 seeds at 149, and 4 seed Collin Gaj won the bracket. He beat both guys that Nininger lost to (Gioffre and Lemley) and Miller also lost to Gioffre as well as Andre Gonzales.

1. VT has absurd depth at 149

2. Miller should go back up to 157, I don't know why he came down

3. Gaj should be the starter at VT, RS Nininger

Add in Henson who is redshirting as another VT 149 guy

How do we see the brackets of midlands? Also, how can we get around the UI of the FloArena? Is there a way to see the traditional layout of brackets in trackwrestling ? I hate the Flo brackets so much

I don't have an account on Flo, but I saw the Midlands brackets there not 5 minutes ago.

A lot of good wrestlers? There’s one top 10 guy in the entire field.

And he lost in the quarterfinals and failed to place.

So you say boss.    A half on never placer should not be bagging on kids that are dedicating their lives to this.  Also.  Noticed you didn’t say you qualified for NCAAs.  In hind sight.  I will believe you didn’t.   Be better as a human

I wouldn't put too much faith in NCAA "qualifiers" either if I were you. Lots of putzes who have no realistic chance of winning qualify for nationals. 9th placers from B1G routinely qualify for nationals, and I think I've seen 10 or 11 from B1G making it at a weight for NCAAs. There are 77 D1 teams and 33 guys qualify per weight. Over 40% of the starters qualify for nationals. That's not as high as the NHL (50% of teams make the playoff) or the NBA (67%), but elite would be something closer to 10% qualifying. Can you imagine an 8 man bracket like they used to have back in the 20s and 30s?

No need to denigrate any d1 wrestlers.   No need to denigrate any D2 d3 naia hs or any other wrestlers.

especially if most of them Would probably smoke you

It's not the wrestlers' fault there's only 77 D1 teams and every other school has dropped its program. It just concentrates the talent into fewer teams. Those guys are still the 33 best wrestlers in the country and they're all badasses. Any one of them would break you in half within the first minute.

As a community.  We bag on those that go 0-2 bbq at nationals or big 10s or whatever.   those guys are likely state champs.  Multiple time placers at worst.   We are bad to our own community.

This sport  is hard.   Very hard.   I played baseball soccer and football.  This sport is the hardest.  Sometimes we forget that.  Something we bag on d1 guys that aren’t 400-0.  It’s annoying

Wow, you sure seem to talk a lot about the lack of talent of people you've never seen wrestle. I seem to recall you denigrating a guy who actually WON the Midlands earlier in this thread (my apology if that was somebody else). I know you denigrated a guy who said he won a couple matches at Midlands but didn't say he qualified for NCAAs.

LOL, sure they would. So are you one of those simpletons who doesn't realize weight classes exist for a reason?

National champs and even multi-time All-Americans can make a very nice living from wrestling, coaching in college or starting a club.  Starters can somtimes go back to their hometown with enough of a name to trade off of like in Real Estate or Insurance. Room guys do all of the same work but often the best they can hope for is that it helps them get a teaching position when they can list wrestling coach.

I know a lot of wrestlers from the past who did well in wrestling who now have great careers. What it takes to be successful on the mat is also applicable in the work place.

I was talking only about wrestlers who use their wrestling resume to find employment.   The discipline wrestling teaches is a different area

Thought athletes did sports in college for the scholarship to get a free ride education.

I would bet on the 33rd seed at 125 lbs. at nationals over random overweight internet guy.

Some like to study the roots while others pick the fruit. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

More wrestlers move on to other jobs than stay in wrestling because there is NOT ENOUGH MONEY IN WRESTLING. Don't take it from me, go ask Jake Herbert .

Whisenhunt listed as M-For to Ortega, but then wrestles and loses in the consolation bracket.  I thought that a MFF ends your tournament.  What am I missing?  Did he step on the mat and then forfeit (thus an Injury Forfeit) and it is just listed incorrectly?

Several guys are there because they need matches for RPI ... a default still counts as a match for RPI but a Med FFT does not. He stepped out on the mat and defaulted. Wrestling Ortega also does not help his RPI, but wrestling Spidle and Lopez does as ranked attached wrestlers. He's also coming off an injury.
