If he keeps getting knocked out in the 1st round he will just turn into a laughing stock, hopefully he gets some softer matches so he sticks around, I have been enjoying the argument between Willie Mat Scout vs. Ben Davis on X regarding Gable.

That WAS a "soft" match against an 0-2 opponent on Saturday.

They will watch to root against him.  What is the general consensus on Hokit from the MMA crowd?  I know most of them agree with a lot of what he says, but I feel like I’ve seen a lot of people being critical of just the fact that his whole persona is a bit (although you can’t deny it helped him get this title shot so soon)

I like Hokit - entertaining and enjoy his fight style. But he's wrong - Michelle Obama is all woman.

There's lots of wrestlers who get handled right out of the gate and then they get better. Gable just happens to be higher profile so everyone notices. If he sticks with it, he'll be more savvy and have a strong career. Incidentally, I don't understand - did he stop lifting and eating? He looks much small than in college and can't be helping him. There's no way college PED testing is less stringent than MMA.

I guess I just don't know. I assume MMA is not strict? You're saying they are?

I hear they test all NCAA finalists before their championship matches, so presumably Gable would have been tested before every final (when he looked much bigger than last weekend).

Peptides use is rampant and a lot of them are out of your system quickly. The most famous stack is BPC157 and (something)500. Its really helpful for recovering from injuries and sturdiness in general, and its out of your system very quickly. Not sure how long which sarms stay in the system, but you with the variety of options and ways to prevent a sudden crash in performance this stuff is absolutely everywhere.

That moron Ferrari advertised a type of weight loss consistent with HEAVY ped and cycling off(or at the very least a weight fluctation impossible for a healthy person).

I assume the UFC is much much more stringent.

In related news, if you are one of the rare people who eats 10 steaks a day, don't tell anyone, it doesn't land you in good company.

After the matches...

And oddly, very rarely do ncaa guys test positive, except for a couple recent D3 guys.

It was seemingly impossible to get people that hate Gable to understand I wasn't trying to defend Gable or anything he's done/said nor to get them to like him.

That's despite being abundantly clear that my point was that Gable is not 'a failure'. He could never win a UFC fight again and he still wouldn't be a 'failure'.

He was an Olympic Champ and voted the heisman of college wrestling. Because of that he got long-shot opportunities in two of the highest leagues in their industry. If you thought it was likely that he made an NFL roster, and thus consider it a failure, that's a you issue.

it's almost like they're saying you shouldn't attempt things when the opportunity arises. it's loser talk in my opinion.

I am by no means a Gable guy, but I do think it is worth noting he is 3 years younger than DC was when DC had his first fight. Now the landscape of MMA has changed, and guys are better now, but heavyweight and light heavy are certainly further behind from a skill standpoint than the lighter weights so I think he could have a very bright future ahead of him. Loss is not something he has had to deal with a ton in his life and never to this magnitude so how he transitions from this will be very telling on the rest of his career in my opinion. I do think his frame is not that of a heavyweight, DC made it work but DC was as good as anyone ever at forcing fights where he wanted them to take place aside even again Jon, he was able to get things in dirty boxing range.

Also, I believe Hokit had his first fight at the same age that Gable did, is smaller than Gable, is fighting out of basically the same gym, and is now in a title fight against someone with notoriously bad wrestling.

Did you just kiss and tell?

Also you have got to be kidding me... in my entire lifetime the ncaa has never EVER caught one PED user from the test at the d1 wrestling championships. You think no one takes anything? Hell some of the guys who wrestled in the tournament have gone on to pop in the UFC. Wake up.

Can you name a time and D1 guy has ever tested positive? I cant. How about at the D1 national championship? To my knowledge they have never caught anyone.

Allegedly, a guy by the name of Zahid Valencia.  It was supposedly an ASU drug test and not an NCAA.  If it happened.

Never happened. He popped for cocaine(allegedly, i think the term used was party drug) in a UWW drug test. It had nothing to do with the school or the NCAA and also wasnt PEDs.

But thats kind of my point the NCAA has NEVER caught a d1 wrestler for PEDs and I would hope none of us are stupid enough to think no one in d1 wrestling is using.

I mean we have a recent 4 timer caught by UWW and suspended for something worse than what Zahid got caught for and we just pretend a)it was an accident b) it never happened or c) even if it did happen he was clean for all 4 titles...

This is a Pandora's box we as fans just dont want opened and I tend to feel that way as well. The sport feels pure but its likely not true and thats a matter of fairness.

sure

NCAA does not have to honor WADA suspensions.

Is your source for this Zahid?

The NCAA didnt honor it. ASU did which is why you thought the administered the test. Likely because he was representing sunkist and wrestling in their room.

You're awfully snarky for someone who doesnt have any clue about the situation at all.

Its also weird thats what youre clinging too when the other things I said are more interesting and relevant to the sport. But hey I'll be back with an article to make you look stupid.

ASU national champion wrestler Zahid Valencia suspended after failed drug test - The Arizona State Press https://share.google/OfuMpk6cVW6Mv3xgl

He failed a test in Italy for recreational drugs and ASU chose to punish him for it. You know, exactly like I said.

Dude: I might know what you are talking about if you could properly use contractions, capitalization, and spelling.  Your mess is unreadable.

And the fact that it appears that you think you are interesting is laughable.

"reportedly"

So your source actually refuses to guarantee that is what happened.  Terrible job.

Why are you "clinging too" this?
