I know this sounds odd, but I have my reasons.

Right now, what is happening in England should serve as an example of a country in trouble, or at least, a country going through a massive change from the way of life they once had. If that holds, time will tell.

Here in the US, we have these socialist (I am not using the term as a derogatory term, I am using it as their actual political platform). Who somehow, despite it failing in nearly every single instant, believe that somehow our economy, infrastructure, and citizens will love it. The simple faces are: To have socialism, you have to significantly increase taxes, you have to reduce choice (in almost everything),and  you have to mentally accept that there is nearly no data that you will succeed.

I was always taught that you have two ways of learning things: the easy way or the hard way. In this case, I think in America, we need to see how his plans change NY.  I am also very supportive of LA doing it. I want to see the rich elite in those cities who support these ideas, stay in those cities, and pay new taxes. I want to see them realize the reality of what they support. Let's see what happens to their income, their property values, etc Same for Minneapolis.

I say, let him have his way, according to him and a large number of his supporters in the Democratic party, and even the many supporters here, this would be amazing for America. At this point, what do we have to lose?

Humans don’t often admit their failures with their big ideas.  At least that’s my experience.   They won’t admit it’s chit.   They will keep going with the chit then the rest of us will be stuck with it.

That’s the down side.

Not sure I agree, but maybe I think the bluff needs to be called.  Maybe I am wrong, well, I probably am wrong.

The Mamdani socialism experiment will fail because "they" didn't allow "True Socialism."  The remedy is to cancel, arrest, propagandize, increase taxes, seize, and eat the rich.

Right now it looks like Mamdami will win from the polls.   The V will have his wish, to the detriment of the city in my opinion.   Socialism always looks good for the first few years and then reality sets in and it is too expensive and inefficient.   Cuomo is no saint but should prove better than Mamdami.   And that is saying something.   After what happened to him as governor, I never thought I could support him for anything.   The only thing that has me support Cuomo is that Mamdami is dangerous, especially if he gets like minded folks in the city council.

I would think a lot of businesses would say enough is enough. They will be leaving very soon to greener pastures. Where taxes are much lower and are friendlier toward businesses. I also believe a lot of people who have the means will leave to states and cities that are safer and have much lower taxation. If I was a county or a city, I would be actively recruiting the businesses to come with some very attractive financial incentives.

Paul, that's if you were a county.   But those that are are liberal leftists who think businesses are the enemy and trying to financially rape the people.   So there would have to be a lot of work to get that turned around.  That's where competition comes in but they just don't think that way.   Keeping costs down requires competition, and liberals don't like competition in general.

Will Damniny’s changes to city law enforcement bring islamic rape gangs to NYC like London has?  Will overall violence increase?  Can anyone on Wall Street feel safe?  There’s a lot that can go bad and some of it can have a negative effect on the rest of the country.

Meh. I don't know much about him. He's New York, local. Don't care too much unless he runs for prez or moves to WI.  Gotta be better than trumptard though.

Surely you have an opinion.   What if he was running for gov of wi or mayor of whatever town you live in

Didn’t you make 16000 comments in the Mamdani thread ?

The culture in my burbs has changed over.  Votes blue now.  Women covered and speaking non English in public places.  Certain people absolutely terrified of my lovable golden retriever.

Giant mosque on 20 acres is under construction directly next to the school in the middle of a predominantly Christian sub-division.  Both my neighbor houses were bought for 100K over asking by legal immigrants.  This change has sped up in transition since 2015.

NYC is coming to a place near all of us too soon.

You were the first to see my overall point, thank you...

I am waiting to see how someone wanting policies that expand public transportation, child care for kids, and housing affordability is dangerous  evil and will bring about the destruction of a city many on here think is already a hellish leftist cess pool.  Mamdani will have a mandate when he wins very interesting to see what happens

How many were about him specifically? Zero or close to it. Why should I care about the NY mayor candidate?

Remember, he cannot do it alone.   He needs a compliant city council.   He just can't change laws by himself or he becomes a king and we know we don't want those around here.

But to answer Braves concern, it is a matter of who will pay for this.   He wants to rapidly raise costs for the city and that means higher taxation, but who will get taxed?  Businesses and the rich.   Businesses will just raise their prices and Joe taxpayer will foot that bill.   So costs go up in the city.   Businesses can relocate and that will further exacerbate the situation.   When the rich leave the city, then the burden will fall on those that don't or can't leave.  Then it becomes the utopia  you are looking for when the city can no longer afford these perks and expectations are shattered.  This is a voice of warning that many are giving.   It is borne out of history and experience.   "There is no such thing as a free lunch" is as true today as it was yesterday.   Someone eventually pays for the lunch.  And usually it is the little guy.

Don’t know of the question is for you or the conveniently silent Lefties on here.

why do the hard core lefties either 1) not give a fark.  Their rhetoric is clear.  The rich can afford it therefore shut up and pay.   Corporations can live with things like theft as they make to much $$$ etc.   (similar argument…. Rich = pay) or

2) just not acknowledge or believe businesses pass taxes on to the poor or that businesses and the rich will leave.    Consider things like it’s already happening in nyc Chicago LA etc….   Or the arguments to make minimum wage  infinity ( 🙂 ) …. Because infinity minimum wage equals a living wage for all.

Because it has to be funded and the same people can’t be asked to pay over and over and over and over for those that don’t. 🤦‍♂️

Its easy to be a non believer when you’re alive but it won’t be when you die.
